Autopilot Design for Agile Missile with Aerodynamic Fin and Side Thruster

  • This paper is concerned with a mixed control with aerodynamic fin and side thrusters applied to an agile missile using two-time scale dynamic inversion and linear time-varying control technique. The nonlinear dynamic inversion method with the weighting function allocates the desired control inputs (aerodynamic fin and side thrusters) to track a reference trajectory, and the time-varying control technique guarantees the robustness for the uncertainties. Closed-loop stability is achieved by the assignment of the extended-mean of these linear time-varying eigenvalues to the left half complex plane. The proposed schemes are validated by nonlinear simulations.

  • This paper is concerned with a control allocation strategy using the dynamic inversion and the pseudo inverse control which generates the nominal control input trajectories. In addition, an autopilot design method is proposed by using time-varying control technique which is time-varying version of the pole placement of linear time-invariant system for an agile missile with aerodynamic fin and thrust vectoring control. The control allocation proposed in this paper is capable of extracting the maximum performance by combining each control effector, aerodynamic fin and thrust vectoring control. The adopted time-varying control technique for the autopilot design enhances the robustness of the tracking performance for a reference command. The main results are validated through the nonlinear simulations with aerodynamic data.

  • In this paper model reference adaptive control (MRAC) of linear time-varying(LTV) systems is considered. MRAC for a linear time invariant(LTI) system does not assure the boundedness of the output and parameter estimation errors in the presence of time variations of the parameters. However, changing the adaptive laws such as use of $\sigma$-modification can result in the boundedness of the output and parameter estimation errors[5]. Together with the $\sigma$-modification in the adaptive law, we also modify the control law by adding an additional term to the standard control law. The additional term leads to smaller bounds of the output and parameter estimation errors when compared to the case where only the standard control law is applied.

  • A design of the global optimal sliding mode control is presented to control the second order uncertain time varying system with torque limit. With specified ranges of parametric uncertainties and torque limit, the minimum arrival time to reference inputs can be calculated. The proposed control scheme is applied to the motor system carrying loads. The merit of the proposed control scheme is that the arriving time at the reference input, which is the revolution angle, and the maximum allowable acceleration are expressed in a closed form solution. The superior performance of the proposed control scheme is validated by the computer simulation and experiments comparing with other sliding mode controllers.

  • In this paper, a robust discrete model reference adaptive controller is proposed using a generalized model reference adaptive algorithm for single-input single-output discrete systems. A signal dependent time-varying dead-zone is employed in a generalized adaptive control structure. This adaptive controller is shown to assure the boundedness of the signals of the system even in the presence of bounded external disturbance.

  • A high precision position control techinque of Brushless DC(BLDC) motor system with time varying parameters is expressed using the self tuning control method. The time varying parameters is estimated on real time by detecting voltage references from controller and mechanical motor speeds from tacho-generator. The effectiveness of the method is evaluated through the positon control experimental results of a BLDC motor system for reference change and arbitrary disturbance.

  • We propose a sliding mode controller tracking the states of a time-varying reference model. The reference model generates the desired trajectories of the states, and the sliding mode controller regulates robustly the errors between the desired states and the measured states. We apply this controller to the overhead crane. Its reference model generates the trajectories of the damped-out swing angle and the swing angular velocity to suppress the swinging motion caused by the acceleration and the deceleration of crane transportation. Also, this model generates the desired trajectories of the position and velocity of the crane. The crane model is identified from the experimental data using an orthogonal function. Kalman filtering is applied to estimate the crane states. The designed controller is simulated on a computer and is tested through a 2-ton industrial overhead crane using the vector-controlled servo motor system. It is verified that, from the simulated and experimental results, the sliding mode controller tracking a time-varying reference model works well.

  • In this paper, we present a construction method using perspective model which allows for the representation of the motion of a planar surface under perspective projection. The motion parameters are obtained by minimizing a disparity measure between the region in the current frame and the mapped region in the previous frame. The frames are constructed with dynamic panoramic image using a fixed reference or a time varying reference. By experiment, panoramic image proposed in this paper represents contents more efficiently than static image or video, and has a high volume reduction ratio.
