Though the freshness for agricultural products is an important factor related to their quality management, this terminology is being used restrictedly because it is very subjective. In this study, a dimensionless index which had the span of the maximum of 1 through the minimum of 0 was proposed to describe freshness of the product with time-variant quality and was applied to Tsugaru and Fuji apples. First, the compressive properties having the linearity in their change regarding time elapsed after harvest were selected. For Tsugaru apple, bio-yield and rupture forces had high correlation with time while for Fuji, bio-yield and rupture deformations had high correlations. When the slope, or ratio of force to deformation, was considered, the effect of cultivar could be neglected. When the linearly time-variant compressive properties for Tsugaru and Fuji apples were involved in the freshness indices, they described well freshness of apples. Also, the freshness decay constant depicted a characteristic which related to freshness decay rate. Therefore, the freshness index can be utilized to manage the quality during storage and distribution of apples.
A new method for injecting cooling water into the Korean research reactor (KRR) in the event of beam tube rupture is proposed in this paper. Moreover, the research evaluates the risk to the reactor core in terms of core damage frequency (CDF). The proposed method maintains the cooling water in the chimney at a certain level in the tank to prevent nuclear fuel damage solely by gravitational coolant feeding from the emergency water supply system (EWSS). This technique does not require sump recirculation operations described in the current procedure for resolving beam tube accidents. The reduction in the risk to the core in the event of beam tube rupture that can be achieved by the proposed change in the cooling water injection design is quantified as follows. 1) The total CDF of the KRR for the proposed design change is approximately 4.17E-06/yr, which is 8.4% lower than the CDF of the current design (4.55E-06/yr). 2) The CDF for beam tube rupture is 7.10E-08/yr, which represents an 84.1% decrease compared with that of the current design (4.49E-07/yr). In addition to this quantitative reduction in risk, the modified cooling water injection design maintains a supply of pure coolant to the EWSS tank. This means that the reactor does not require decontamination after an accident. Thermal hydraulic analysis proves that the water level in the reactor pool does not cause damage to the nuclear fuel cladding after beam tube rupture. This is because the amount of water in the chimney can be regulated by the EWSS function. The EWSS supplies emergency water to the reactor core to compensate for the evaporation of coolant in the core, thus allowing water to cover the fuel assemblies in the reactor core over a sufficient amount of time.

Impact is one of the major cause of damage to fruits druing varios processes from the production on the farm to the consumer. The tissue of fruits are ruptured in a very short period time less than 10ms by impact loading. Mechanical behavior of fruits under impact loading can be analyzed better with high speed sampling data acquisition system and one of them is a digital storage oscilloscope. A impact test system was developed to test the physical properties of fruits including apple, pear, and peach which may lead to a better understanding of the physical laws. The test system consisted of a digital storage oscilloscope and simple mechanism which can apply impact force to fresh produce. Rupture force, energy, and deffrmation were measured at the five levels of drop heights from 4 to 24cm fur each internal and external tissues. Rupture forces for apple and pear were in the range of 72.9 to 87.7 N and 70.8 to 84.1 N for external and internal tissues, respectively. Rupture forces far peach external tissues were in the range of 43.4 to 65.0 N.

Cyclic temperature creep tests were carried out an AS 7075 alloy specimens were subjected to a constant load and stepwise temperature cycles in which temperature was fluctuated between 30$0^{\circ}C$ and 25$0^{\circ}C$ with three different cycle ratios. The highest frequency of cycling was 1 cycle per 10 hr and the lowest one was 1 cycle per 12 hr. From the creep experimental results with the above conditions the creep strain under cyclic temperature can be predicted easily by introd ucing the equivalent steady temperature because defined by Eq.(16), but the rupture life is 1.1 time than those of constant temperature because of effect of temperature history at tertiary creep range. Besides thlis result, the results of the creep test under cyclic temperature conditions are respectively compayiea with calculated rupture lives using the life fraction law and Eq.(18). The agreement between the obseried rupture times and calculated ones is fairly good. So creep rupture lives can be respectively predicted using life fraction law and Eq.(18).

The effect of the substitution of Tungsten(W) for Molybdenum(Mo) on the creep behaviour of 22Cr-5Ni duplex stainless steel(DSS) has been investigated. Creep tests were carried out at $600^{\circ}C\;and\;650^{\circ}C$. Intermetallic ${\sigma}$ phase is precipitated during creep at $650^{\circ}C$, at which creep rupture time was much lower compared with at $600^{\circ}C$. The substitution of W for Mo in the duplex stainless steel was known to retard the formation of ${\sigma}$ phase. Minimum creep rate and creep rupture time, however, were hardly influenced by the substitution of 2wt.% W. An ultrasonic measurement for the creep specimens has been carried out for the evaluation of creep damage. The sound velocity increases propotionally with the increase of creep rupture time at $600^{\circ}C$ of creep temperature. On the contrary, the sound velocity decreases with the increase of rupture time at $650^{\circ}C$, which can be correlated with the microstructural evolution during creep.
P91 steel has been a highly researched material because of its applicability for high-temperature applications. Considerable efforts have been made to produce experimental creep data and develop models for creep life prediction. As creep tests are expensive and difficult to conduct, it is vital to develop authenticated empirical methods from experimental results that can be utilized for better understanding of creep behavior and can be incorporated into computational models for reliable prediction of creep life. In this research, a series of creep rupture tests are performed on the P91 specimens within a stress range of 155 MPa to 200 MPa and temperature range of 640 ℃ (913 K) to 675 ℃ (948 K). The microstructure, hardness, and fracture surfaces of the specimens are investigated. To analyze the results of the creep rupture tests at a macro level, a parameter called creep work density is derived. Then, the relationships between various creep parameters such as strain, strain rate, time to rupture, creep damage tolerance factor, and creep work density are investigated, and various empirical equations are obtained.
From January, 1990 to December, 1994, we have operated 10 patients with cardiac rupture. The patients are divided into two groups according to their clinical manifestation ; five patients in each hemorrhage and tamponade group. The patients in both groups could maintain their vital signs with closed thoracostomy and fluid resuscitation. The effect of pericardiocentesis was especially dramatic in three patients of tamponade group. The average time from injury to admission was 101 minutes and that of the patients who came our hospital via one or two other hospitals was 170 minutes comparing 31 minutes of those who came directly. The average time from admission to operation was 211 minutes. Considering 98 minutes for the diagnosis and preoperative management and another 30 minutes for the preparation for operation, operations were delayed by 83 minutes to get permission. We conclude that this delaying time for transport and operation of heart-ruptured patients should be shortened in order to manage them more effectively.
Magnesium alloys have given high attention to the industry of light-weigh as automobile and electronics with aluminium, titanium and composite alloys due to their high strength, low specific density and good damping characteristics. But the magnesium contained structures under high temperature have the problems related to creep deformation and rupture life, which is a reason of developing the new material against creep deformation to use them safely. The purpose of this study is to predict the creep deformation mechanism and rupture time of AZ31 magnesium alloy. For this, creep tests of AZ31 magnesium alloy were done under constant creep load and temperature with the equipment including automatic temperature controller with acquisition computer. The apparent activation energy Qc, the applied stress exponent n and rupture life have been determined over the temperature range below 0.5Tm and stress range of 109~187MPa, respectively, in order to investigate the creep behavior. AZ31 Magnesium alloy identify the activation energy for creep deformation and the stress dependence to creep rate at below 0.5Tm, and then investigate the mechanism for creep deformation and creep rupture life of AZ31 Magnesium alloy.
In most LMFBR(Liquid Metal Fast Breed Reactor) design, the operating temperature is very high and the time-dependent creep and stress-rupture effects become so important in reactor structural design. Therefore, unlike with conventional PWR, the normal operating conditions can be basically dominant design loading because the hold time at elevated temperature condition is so long and enough to result in severe total creep ratcheting strains during total service lifetime. In this paper, elevated temperature design of the conceptually designed baffle annulus regions of KALIMER(Korea Advanced Liquid MEtal Reactor) reactor internal strictures is carried out for normal operating conditions which have the operating temperature 53$0^{\circ}C$ and the total service lifetime of 30 years. For the elevated temperature design of reactor internal structures, the ASME Code Case N-201-4 is used. Using this code, the time-dependent stress limits, the accumulated total inelastic strain during service lifetime, and the creep-fatigue damages are evaluated with the calculation results by the elastic analysis under conservative assumptions. The application procedures of elevated temperature design of the reactor internal structures using ASME Code Case N-201-4 with the elastic analysis method are described step by step in detail. This paper will be useful guide for actual application of elevated temperature design of various reactor types accounting for creep and stress-rupture effects.

The creep properties have been evaluated for type 316LN stainless steel welded by the SAW method. The creep tests were conducted with different stress levels for both the base and weld metals at $550^{\circ}C\;and\;600^{\circ}C$. The results of the creep-rupture time of the weld metal did not show a large difference when compared to those of the base one, though it exhibited a little lower value at $600^{\circ}C$. The creep rate of the weld metal was lower than that of the base one at the same stress and rupture-time conditions. The creep-rupture ductility of the weld metal is found to be decreased by about 60%, compared to the base one. This is due to the decreasing of tensile elongation and the increasing of the yield stress in the weld metals.
