Robust On-line Rotor Time Constant Estimation for Induction Machines

  • This paper proposes an on-line rotor time constant estimation strategy for indirect field oriented induction machines. The performance of the indirect field oriented control is dependent especially on the rotor time constant whose value varies according to the temperature. The proposed method calculates the difference between the nominal rotor time constant and the real value from the d- and q-axis integration terms of a proportional integral (PI) current regulator and the demanded voltages of the induction machine to regulate the current in the steady state. Because the proposed strategy has a simple structure and is available in wide speed and torque ranges, the proposed method can be easily used in the industrial field. The effectiveness of proposed strategy is verified with simulations and a 7.5kW experimental setup.

  • This study attempted to confirm the possibility of estimating condensation time and initial compressive strength with five types of estimation needles in the existing Durometer D type. In order to determine the surface finishing operation time and develop a method for estimating the initial age compression strength, an estimation needle capable of complexly measuring the estimation time and the initial age compression strength based on the Durometer D type was derived as 1.5, 2.0mm.

  • As part of the study on the development of the setting time estimation system, this study attempted to confirm the change in hardness values for each influencing factor variable and secure its reliability. According to the research results of this paper, the hardness value of the setting time estimation system tended to gradually decrease in the case of the hardness value of the closing time by curing temperature, and the hardness value increased in the concrete state compared to mortar. Therefore, further research on influencing factors will be conducted in consideration of material and statistical factors in the future.

  • A new time-domain FIR parameter estimation called the receding horizon least square estimation (RHLSE) is suggested for stochastic systems by combining the well known least square estimation with the receding horizon strategy. It can be always obtained without the requirement of any \textit{a priori} information about the horizon initial parameter. A fast algorithm for the suggested estimation is also presented which is remarkable in the view of computational advantage and simple implementation. It is shown that the proposed estimation is robust against temporary modeling uncertainties due to their FIR structure through simulation studies.

  • We deal with the sliding mode control using the time delay estimation. The time delay estimation is able to weaken the need for obtaining a quantitative plant model analogous to the real plant so the sliding mode control with a time delay estimation (SMCTE) is very suitable for plant such as SMA actuators whose quantitative model is difficult to obtain. We have already studied the application of the time delay control (TDC) to SMA actuators in other literature. Based on the previous study on the TDC, we developed the gain tuning method for the SMCTE, which results were nearly the same as the TDC. With respect to the step response, the SMCTE proved its predominance in a comparison with other control schemes such as the PID control and the relay control. As well as the contribution of the above control methodology, the model identification for SMA actuators has also been studied. The dynamics for an SMA actuator was newly derived using the modified Liang's model. The derived dynamics showed a continuity at the change of the phase transformation process but the original Liang's model could not.

  • This paper presents an adaptive active tracking system with sector based scanning for a single PTZ camera. Dividing sectors on an image reduces the search space to shorten selection time so that the system can cover many targets. Upon the selection of a target, the system estimates the target trajectory to predict the zooming location with a finite amount of time for camera movement. Advanced estimation techniques using probabilistic reason suffer from the unknown object dynamics and the inaccurate estimation compromises the zooming level to prevent tracking failure. The proposed system uses the simple piecewise estimation with a few frames to cope with fast moving objects and/or slow camera movements. The target is tracked in multiple steps and the zooming time for each step is determined by maximizing the zooming level within the expected variation of object velocity and detection. The number of zooming steps is adaptively determined according to target speed. In addition, the iterative estimation of a zooming location with camera movement time compensates for the target prediction error due to the difference between speeds of a target and a camera. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulations and real time experiments.

Performance Investigation of Space-Time Block Coded Multicarrier DS-CDMA in Time-Varying Channels

  • In this letter, we evaluate the system performance of a space-time block coded (STBC) multicarrier (MC) DS-CDMA system over a time selective fading channel, with imperfect channel knowledge. The average bit error rate impairment due to imperfect channel information is investigated by taking into account the effect of the STBC position. We consider two schemes: STBC after spreading and STBC before spreading in the MC DS-CDMA system. In the scheme with STBC after spreading, STBC is performed at the chip level; in the scheme with STBC before spreading, STBC is performed at the symbol level. We found that these two schemes have various channel estimation errors, and that the system with STBC before spreading is more sensitive to channel estimation than the system with STBC after spreading. Furthermore, derived results prove that a high spreading factor (SF) in the MC DS-CDMA system with STBC before spreading leads to high channel estimation error, whereas for a system with STBC after spreading this statement is not true.

  • 이 논문에서는 IEEE 802.16.1a 기반 단말간 직접통신을 위해 동기채널 프리앰블을 이용한 시간 및 주파수 오차, 신호대 간섭및잡음 비 추정 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 프리앰블의 구조를 고려하여 시간영역 및 주파수영역에서 시간 및 주파수 오차를 추정한다. 그리고 단말의 동작 환경을 고려하여 두가지 영역에서 추정된 값을 결합하여 추정 성능을 높인다. 직접통신 채널 환경에서의 모의실험을 통해 제안된 기법의 성능과 시간영역 혹은 주파수 영역에서 추정하는 기존 기법의 성능을 비교한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 MIMO-OFDM 시스템에서 시간영역 훈련신호의 직교화를 통한 채널추정 방법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 Jeon[8]이 제안한 방법을 그대로 송신 안테나 개수가 4개인 MIMO-OFDM 시스템으로 확장하였을 때 수신기에서 다중경로 지연신호로 인하여 훈련신호가 직교되는 않는 문제점이 있음을 보였다. 이러한 문제점에 대한 해결책으로 훈련신호 중앙에 보호구간을 삽입하는 새로운 훈련신호 발생 방법을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 훈련신호들이 서로 직교하기 때문에 수신기에서 Walsh decoding sum기법을 통하여 시간영역에서 채널응답을 추정할 수 있음을 보였다.

유도전동기 직접벡터제어를 위한 회전자 시정수 추정 (Rotor Time Constant Estimation for Induction Motor Direct Vector Control)

  • 고피나스 모델 자속관측기를 사용한 유도전동기 직접벡터제어 시스템에서 회전자 시정수에 오차가 있을 경우 시스템의 동특성이 저하되는 현상을 살펴보았으며, 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 MRAC를 이용한 회전자 시정수 실시간 추정 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 방식의 타당성을 검증하기 위해서 자속관측기에 사용되는 전동기 상수들의 오차가 회전자 시정수 추정에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 분석한 결과 전동기 상수에 다소 오차가 있더라도 회전자 시정수의 추정오차는 5% 이내로 수렴됨을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안한 회전자 시정수 추정 알고리즘을 고피나스 모델 자속관측기에 적용하게 되면 전동기 상수 변동에 강인한 유도전동기 직접벡터제어 시스템을 구현할 수 있다.
