Development of Signal Monitoring Platform for Sound Source Localization System

  • The sound source localization system is used to some area such as robotic system, object localization system, guarding system and medicine. So time delay estimation and angle estimation of sound direction are studied until now. These days time delay estimation is described in LabVIEW which is used to create innovative computer-based product and deploy measurement and control systems. In this paper, the development of signal monitoring platform is presented for sound source localization. This platform is designed in virtual instrument program and implemented in two stages. In first stage, data acquisition system is proposed and designed to analyze time delay estimation using cross correlation. In second stage, data obtaining system which is applied and designed to monitor analog signal processing is proposed.

고속 시변 채널 OFDM을 위한 저복잡도 LS 채널 예측의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Low Complexity LS Channel Estimation for OFDM in Fast Time Varying Channels)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속 시변 채널 OFDM을 위한 저복잡도 LS(Least Squares) 채널 예측의 성능 개선 방안을 제안한다. 저복잡도 LS 채널 예측을 위해 사용하는 CE-BEM(Complex Exponential-Basis Expansion Model) 채널 모델의 경우 채널 모델 자체의 문제점으로 인하여 채널 예측 성능 저하가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 우선 시간 영역 윈도우를 이용하여 데이터 심볼에 의한 ICI(Interchannel Interference)의 영향을 제거한다. LS 채널 예측 결과에서 샘플을 취하여 윈도우의 영향을 제거한 후 특성이 채널 변화의 표현에 적합한 DPSS(Discrete Prolate Spheroidal Sequences)를 기저함수(basis function)로 하는 보간 (interpolation) 방식으로 채널 응답을 복원하여 CE-BEM의 문제점을 해결한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통한 성능 확인 결과 제안된 채널 예측 방식은 기존의 방식과 비교하여 특히 고속 시변 채널에서 우수한 성능 개선 효과를 보여주며, 선택된 기저함수의 형태뿐만 아니라 기저함수의 개수의 설정이 성능을 크게 좌우하는 또 다른 요소임을 확인하였다.

  • 기존의 IMBE (개량형 다중대역 여기 : Improved Multi-band Excitation) 음성 부호기의 초기 피치 추정 과정은 전체 부호기 연산 시간의 대부분을 차지하며 또한 미래의 음성 프레임들이 초기 피치 추정시 사용되므로 시간 지연이 유발되어 실시간 구현에 장애 요소로 작용되었다. 또한 무성음에 해당되는 프레임에 대해서도 유성음과 동일한 피치 추정을 수행하므로 알고리즘의 효율성을 떨어뜨린다 본 논문에서는 초기 피치 추정 전에 다이애딕 웨이브렛 변환 (Dyadic Wavelet Transform)을 이용하여 이를 바탕으로 유/무성음을 판별한 후 유성음으로 결정된 프레임에 대해서만 피치 추정을 행하고 무성음으로 결정된 프레임은 랜덤 잡음을 주어서 부호화시의 처리 시간을 단축하였다. 또한, 초기 피치 추정 전에 판별된 유/무성음을 판별하여 유성음과 무성음에 각기 다른 초기 피치 추정 알고리즘을 사용하고 미래의 두 프레임을 사용하지 않음으로써 송, 수신단에 유발되는 시간 지연을 제거하였다. 그 결과 초기 피치 추정 과정의 상대적인 복잡도가 23% 감소되었고 프레임당 처리 시간이 1/10∼ 1/11로 감소되었고 기존의 부호기와 거의 같은 음질을 얻을 수 있었다.

간결한 예측 모형에 기반한 납축전지의 정전류-정전압 충전시간 특성화 (CC-CV Charging Time Characteristics of Lead-Acid Batteries Based on Compact Estimation Model)

  • Modern embedded systems are typically operated by the rechargeable batteries in our daily life. Since charge of batteries is considered as an time consuming task, there have been extensive efforts to manage the charge time from the perspective of materials, circuits, and systems. Estimation of battery charge time is one of the essential information to design the charge circuitry. A compact macro model for the constant-current and constant-voltage charge protocol was recently introduced, which gives us a quick estimation of charge time with similar shape to the famous Peukert's law for discharge time estimation. The CC-CV charging protocol is widely used for Lithium-based batteries and Lead-acid batteries. In this paper, we characterize the lead-acid battery by measurement to extract the model coefficients, which was not covered by the previous studies. By our proposed model, the key coefficient Kcc results in 1.18-1.31, which is little bit higher than that of Lithium batteries. The accuracy of our model is within the range of ${\pm}10%$ error, which is compatible with the other studies such as Peukert's law.

Neutral-Point Voltage Balancing Method for Three-Level Inverter Systems with a Time-Offset Estimation Scheme

  • This paper presents a neutral-point voltage balancing method for three-level inverter systems using a time-offset estimation scheme. The neutral-point voltage is balanced by adding a time-offset to the turn-on time of the switches. If an inaccurate time-offset is added, the neutral-point deviation still remains. An accurate time-offset is obtained through the proposed time-offset estimation scheme. This method is implemented without additional hardware, complex calculations, or analysis. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiments.

기계 특성에 근거한 5축 밀링가공 시간의 예측 (5-axis Milling Machining Time Estimation based on Machine Characteristics)

  • In this paper, we present a machining time estimation algorithm for 5-axis high-speed machining. Estimation of machining time plays an important role in process planning and production scheduling of a shop. In contrast to the rapid evolution of machine tools and controllers, machining time calculation is still based on simple algorithms of tool path length divided by input feedrates of NC data, with some additional factors from experience. We propose an algorithm based on 5-axis machine behavior in order to predict machining time more exactly. For this purpose, we first investigated the operational characteristics of 5-axis machines. Then, we defined some dominant factors, including feed angle that is an independent variable for machining speed. With these factors, we have developed a machining time calculation algorithm that has a good accuracy not only in 3-axis machining, but also in 5-axis high-speed machining.

Multiprocess Discount Survival Models With Survival Times

  • For the analysis of survival data including covariates whose effects vary in time, the multiprocess discount survival model is proposed. The parameter vector modeling the time-varying effects of covariates is to vary between time intervals and its evolution between time intervals depends on the perturbation of the next time interval. The recursive estimation of the parameter vector can be obtained at the end of each time interval. The retrospective estimation of the survival function and the forecasting of the survival function of individuals of the specific covariates also can be obtained based on the information gathered until the end of the time interval.

회전기의 기여에 의한 시변성의 순간전압강하 예측에 관한 연구 (Investigation of the Estimation of Time-Varying Voltage Sags Considering the Short Circuit Contributions of Rotating Machines)

  • In this article, 1 would like to explore the estimation method of time-varying voltage sags in large industrial systems considering the short circuit contributions of rotating machines. For the power distribution system of KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation), the magnitude of initial symmetrical short circuit current is generally not changed. However, in industrial systems which contain a number of rotating machines, the magnitude of voltage sag is generally changed from the initial to the clearing time of a fault due to the decreasing contribution of rotating machines for a fault current. The time-varying characteristics of voltage sags can be calculated using a short circuit analysis that is considered the time-varying fault currents. For this, the prediction formulations of time-varying voltage sags are proposed using a foreign standard. The proposed method contains the consideration of generator and motor effects. For the test of proposed formulations, a simple system of industrial consumer is used for the comparison conventional and proposed estimation method of voltage sag characteristics.

A Novel Approach for Blind Estimation of Reverberation Time using Gamma Distribution Model

  • In this paper we proposed an unsupervised algorithm to estimate the reverberation time (RT) directly from the reverberant speech signal. For estimation process we use maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) which is a very well-known and state of the art method for estimation in the field of signal processing. All existing RT estimation methods are based on the decay rate distribution. The decay rate can be obtained either from the energy envelop decay curve analysis of noise source when it is switch off or from decay curve of impulse response of an enclosure. The analysis of a pre-existing method of reverberation time estimation is the foundation of the proposed method. In one of the state of the art method, the reverberation decay is modeled as a Laplacian distribution. In this paper, the proposed method models the reverberation decay as a Gamma distribution along with the unification of an effective technique for spotting free decay in reverberant speech. Maximum likelihood estimation technique is then used to estimate the RT from the free decays. The method was motivated by our observation that the RT of a reverberant signal when falls in specific range, then the decay rate of the signal follows Gamma distribution. Experiments are carried out on different reverberant speech signal to measure the accuracy of the suggested method. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method performs better and the accuracy is high in comparison to the state of the art method.

선박의 속력을 고려한 해상교통량 평가에 관한 연구 (Estimation of Marine Traffic Volume Considering Ship Speed)

  • 본 연구에서는 선박의 속력을 고려한 해상교통량 평가 방법을 제안하였으며, 이를 선박의 속력을 고려하지 않은 기존의 방법과 비교하였다. 평가를 위하여 평택 당진항 10일간의 GICOMS 자료를 본 연구에 적용하였다. 그 결과 제안된 방법으로 평가된 환산교통량은 기존의 평가 방법에 비해 4.41(${\pm}0.99$)배 증가하거나, 0.59(${\pm}0.04$)배 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 제안된 평가 방법을 적용한 각 시간대별 평균 해상교통혼잡도는 기존의 평가 방법 결과에 비해 1.43(${\pm}0.10$)배 높게 나타났으며, 각 시간대별 최대 해상교통혼잡도는 1.62(${\pm}0.34$)배 높게 나타났다. 해상교통혼잡도 최대 평가 결과인 피크타임 해상교통혼잡도는 선박의 속력 분포로 인하여 기존의 평가 방법과 다르게 평가됨을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 선박의 속력은 실용교통용량 평가 시 중요 값으로 적용되기 때문에 해상교통량을 평가할 때 선박의 속력을 고려하여야 할 것으로 사료된다.
