고차원 멀티미디어 데이터 검색을 위한 벡터 근사 비트맵 색인 방법 (Vector Approximation Bitmap Indexing Method for High Dimensional Multimedia Database)

  • 고차원 데이터 공간에서의 효과적인 검색을 위해 최근 VA-file[1], LPC-file[2] 등과 같이 벡터 근사에 기반을 둔 필터링 색인 방법들이 연구되었다. 필터링 색인 방법은 벡터를 근사한 작은 크기의 색인 정보를 사용하여 근사 거리를 계산하고, 이를 사용하여 질의 벡터와 유사하지 않은 대부분의 벡터들을 빠른 시간 안에 검색 대상에서 제외한다. 즉, 실제 벡터 대신 근사 벡터를 읽어 디스크 I/O 시간을 줄여 전체 검색 속도를 향상시키는 것이다. 하지만 VA-file 이나 LPC-file은 근사 거리를 구하는 방법이 순차 검색과 같거나 복잡하기 때문에 검색 속도 향상 효과가 그리 크지 않다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 근사 거리 계산 시간을 줄이기 위하여 새로운 비트맵 색인 구조를 제안한다. 근사 거리 계산속도의 향상을 위하여, 각 객체의 값을 특성 벡터 공간상의 위치를 나타내는 비트 패턴으로 저장하고, 객체 사이의 거리를 구하는 연산은 실제 벡터 값의 연산보다 속도가 훨씬 빠른 XOR 비트 연산으로 대체한다. 실험에 의하면 본 논문이 제안하는 방법은 기존 벡터 근사 접근 방법들과 비교하여 데이터 읽기시간은 더 크지만, 계산 시간을 크게 줄임으로써 전체 검색 속도는 순차 검색의 약 4배, 기존의 방법들보다는 최대 2배의 성능이 향상되었다. 결과적으로, 데이터베이스의 속도가 충분히 빠른 경우 기존의 벡터 근사 접근법의 필터링을 위한 계산 시간을 줄임으로써 더욱 검색 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있음을 확인할 수 있다.

A Study on the Improvement of Release Application Characteristics of Pneumatic Brakes for Freight Train

  • We have performed experimental studies for the improvements of pneumatic brake systems of freight trains. Currently, most of the freight trains operated by the Korean National Railroad have either empty-load or diaphragm type brake systems. In this study, appropriate methods that the air pressure characteristics in both type of brake systems are in accordance with each other have been investigated. We have also performed running tests using a 30 car-train set to design optimum capacity of a quick release valve. The test results show that the quick release valve is considerably effective in shortening the release time of the diaphragm type brake system. In the case of a normal brake application, the diaphragm type brake system with the quick release valve reduces the release time to 34% of that of the system without the quick release valve. This release time is almost equivalent to that of the empty-load type brake system. Accordance of braking performance in different types of brake systems in a train set is expected to prevent wheel flats and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • In this paper, an efficient time domain equalization algorithm for discrete wavelet multitone(DWMT) data transmission is developed. In this algorithm, the time domain equalizer(TEQ) consists of two stages, i.e., the channel impulse response shortening equalizer(TEQ-S) in the first stage and the channel frequency flattening equalizer(TEQ-F) in the second stage. TEQ-S reduces the length of transmission channel impulse response to decrease intersymbol interference(ISI) followed by TEQ-F that enhances the channel frequency response characteristics to the level of an ideal channel, hence diminishes the bit error rate. TEQ-S is implemented using the least-squares(LS) method, while TEQ-F is designed by using the least mean-square(LMS) algorithm. Since DWMT system also requires of the frequency domain equalizer in order to further reduce ICI and ISI the hardware complexity is an another concern. However, by adopting an well designed and trained TEQ, the hardware complexity of the whole DWMT system can be greatly reduced.

합판용 페놀수지 접착제의 속경화 (Fast-Curing of Phenol·Formaldehyde Resin Adhesives for Plywood)

  • To accelerate the cure of phenolic resin adhesives for plywood, the complexation with melamine resin and the addition of cure-accelerating agents were discussed. The hot-pressing temperature and time of phenol resin could be decreased by complexation with melamine resin. but the wet glue-joints strength of phenol melamine resin was lower than that of ordinary phenol resin in case of plywood using spruce veneer at core layer. Among the tested cure-accelerating agents. the sodium carbonate showed the greatest effect on shortening gelation time of phenolic resin. In addition, in the manufacturing scale test, the hot-pressing time of phenol resin with the addition of 5 parts sodium carbonate could be shortened about 20% compared with ordinary phenol resin which had same glue-joints properties.

제지폐수 벌킹제어를 위한 미생물 적용 연구 (Studies on the Application of Microorganism to Control the Bulking of Paper Mill Wastewater)

  • The paper mill wastewater actually generating bulking was used to apply to the spot. Batch and continuous type pilots were used in this study. Optimal time after propagating generation of activated sludge in aeration basin by adding Hoc forming microorganism was 24 and 36hours while optimal time of activated sludge in original aeration basin was 60hours. Showing the difference of sedimentation velocity at 7th day after operating a pilot continuously, SV30 was decreased to 50% at 13th day. COD value in aeration basin with floe forming microorganism was 35mg/L while COD value in original aeration basin was 52mg/L. It was indicated that application of Hoc forming microorganism can control the bulking of paper mill wastewater by shortening of recovery time and improving of pollution removal efficiency.

  • We derived a theory of increasing electromagnetic force which acts on arc column for reducing arcing time between electric contacts. A simulation method of arc velocity is presented by calculating blowout force using 3D FEM and drag force acting on arc column. This paper proposes 3 types arc extinguish chamber of different flux path and presents the specific electromagnetic force and arc velocity of each model by the analysis. The result of analysis and experimental proposes the prediction method of arc time when all conditions are same except external magnetic field.

  • This study is concerned about the design and structural analysis of high integrated tool tower ATC(Automatic Tool Changer) for machine tool. Recently, many studies have been undergoing to reduce a working time in a field of machine tool. Tool tower ATC belongs to reduce a stand-by time by shortening a tool exchanging time. The developed system can store more number of tool in small space than other machine. The analysis is carried out by CATIA V5 software. In the result of structural analysis, the safety factor of the developed system is confirmed.

튀김 조리에 의한 식용유지의 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Changes of Frying Oil in Cooking)

  • This work was carried out to investigate the changes of chemical and physical properties of frying oil, when it was used many times continuously without adding new oil. Four kinds of frying oil (soybean oil, rapeseed oil, shortening and crude lard) and slices of potato and Aji (kind of fish) were used in the experiment under the condition of home cooking. Obtained results were as in the followings. 1. Acid values and peroxide values of each frying oil were under the safety level (A. V = 1.5, Po. V = 50) except crude lard, when frying works were continuously repeated five times for 50 days. 2. Changes of saponification values of each frying oil showed a decreasing tendency except the crude lard. But in cases, stickiness or clothing of oil were not seen in frying even at the five times frying. 3. Changes of optical density of each frying oil showed a decreasing tendency in all cases, according to the times of frying, especially at the first time frying. 4. Maximum heights of the shamp of each frying oil and their shampholding activites when heated, were slowly increased according to the times of frying. 5. Without concerning the cooking condition (kinds of oil, cooking material and repeating times of frying) decrement of oil in once frying was almost exactly 20g per 150g. 6. Decrements of cooking material in all cases of frying showed almost constant values, potato to be 40% and Aji 20%. 7. Differences of smoke point between new and old oil (frying repeated 5 times) showed also almost constant values. Liquid oil (soybean oil and rapeseed oil) showed number (6-$10^{\circ}C$), on the contrally solid oil (shortening and crude lard) a high number (10-$25^{\circ}C$). 8. Results of public tastic for the frying products were almost good even in that of a low five times frying, but the products, of third time frying with crude lard were expressed as disagreeable.

Influences of Different Planting Times on Harvest Index and Yield Determination Factors in Soybean

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the changes of harvest index and the relationship between harvest index and yield determination factors by different planting times in the determinate soybean cultivars, Shinpaldal and Danbaeg. Optimum planting were 23 May in 1995 and 1996. Late planting were 13 June in 1995 and 6 June in 1996. Growth period from planting to physiological maturity (R7) was shortened as planting time was delayed in two cultivars due to shortening of reproductive growth period in Shinpaldal, and of vegetative growth period in Danbaeg. Stem weight was distinctly decreased in late planting compared to optimum planting, but seed weight of both cultivars was not different between planting times. Also, seed number per pod and harvest index were significantly increased in late planting and the high correlation was found between two factors. It was suggested that increase of harvest index in late planting would be related with high assimilate use efficiency due to increase of sink capacity. The results of correlation and principal component analysis for yield determination factors showed that main factor on yield determination was pod number per plant at R5 stage associated with dry matter accumulation during early reproductive growth period, seed number per pod and harvest index were the second factor, and one hundred seed weight was the third factor. The result of this experiment indicated that yield determination in soy-bean was dependent mainly on pod number per plant related to dry matter accumulation by early reproductive growth period, and the increase of seed number per pod and harvest index could compensate for yield decrease by shortening of vegetative growth period in late planting. Such result suggests that optimum planting date can be delayed from mid May to early June in improved soybean cultivars in Korea.

단체급식에서의 센트럴 키친 제품 이용 실태 조사 (A Survey on the Using Practice of the Central Kitchen Products in the Catering)

  • This study conducted a questionnaire survey of the current use status of central kitchen products on 198 dietitians and cooks working at a catering center of a company affiliated with group S in order to investigate the use state of the central kitchen products in catering. The largest groups of respondents answered that they use the central kitchen products once two to four days. As a reason to use it, the largest group answered that they used it because of the ease of preparation. In addition, the results show that the subjects often use sauce and processed vegetables among the central kitchen products. This study investigated the efficiency of cooking, hygiene and safety management of the central kitchen products. The results show that they have a large effect on shortening the cooking time. The quality control and service efficiency of the central kitchen products showed a positive reaction to the menu diversification and excellent quality but a negative reaction to the nutritious superiority. The operating cost efficiency of the central kitchen products generally showed a negative reaction except for the reducing effect of waste rate. As an improvement of the central kitchen products, the survey shows that the reduction in price and quality progress should be most urgently improved. Based on these results, the introduction of the central kitchen products into to the catering enables to standardize mass production, improve the taste and quality, cook without professional chefs and produce productivity increasing effect in the catering by the time shortening effect.
