Performance Analysis of Angle Time Transmit Diversity in Urban Area (도심환경에서 각도-시간 송신다이버시티의 성능분석)

  • In multipath fading channel, diversity is essential to mitigate the impairments. In this paper, we have proposed the angle diversity scheme called ATTD(Angle Time Transmit Diversity) instead of Alamouti's STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) and have analyzed the performance of the proposed scheme when signal powers caused by the transmission to different angles are different. Based on it, we have measured the wireless vector-channel in the urban area, which has lots of high-story buildings, using the data collected from the 8 by 4 smart array antenna system that we made. According to the measured data, the received signals from different angles have different signal powers. Our performance analysis results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the space diversity scheme when the received path signal power is at least -7dB compare to the strongest path signal power.

Saccadic Movement as a Performance Measure of Vigilance Task (경계작업 척도로서의 안구운동 특성)

  • Experiments on the eye movement behavior were performed using Vidicon Eye Camera. Factorial design ( $3{\times}3$) was used to evaluate the validity of the eye movement as a performance measure in vigilance task. Eye movement data were recorded in video tapes, then the data were converted to digital signals, which were reduced to quantitative fixation and saccadic movement data by a microcomputer. To compare with existing vigilance performance measures, response time and the number of false alarms were also recorded. The results showed that the saccadic movement is a good measure of the performance in vigilance task : 1. Both the response time and the saccadic movement increased significantly during the initial two time blocks. 2. High correlations were shown between the response time and the saccadic movement. 3. The locational uncertainty affects the saccadic movement, the number of fixations, the response time but doesn't affect the duration of eye fixations.

  • This paper presents a way to maximize transmission efficiency and reception ability through transmission diversity technology, which can be adapted to wireless multimedia OFDM system. The presented method is a comparative analysis between a case where parameter $\alpha$for time average is 0.3, 1 with consideration of channel presumption with two types of rms delayed proliferation, which is 50nsec, 150nsec, for the performance analysis of STTC(Space-Time Trellis Code) using time-space ciphering method appropriate for MIMO channel, and performance in the case where presumed channel value from long training column section is applied to according frame in a single frame. The result showed that BER brought SNR improvement of 1.0dB in 10-3 when $\alpha$ was 0.3 than using only the long training column, and showed increase of general performance improvement for the sake of time average rather than the case without.

  • In this paper, the position control performance of networked control systems is analyzed when time delay through the network is considered. Integrating a control system into a network has great advantages over the traditional control system which uses point to point connection: it allows remarkable reduction in wiring, makes it easy to install and maintain the system, and improves compability. However, a networked control system has the critical defect that network uncertainties, such as time delay, can degrade the control system's performance. Therefore, the major concern of a networked control system is analyzing the effect of network uncertainties. This paper is concerned with PID controller performance for stability region, critical stability region and unstability region under the time delay in the Controller Area Network.

  • In this paper, a criteria for selecting an appropriate load redistribution algorithm is devised so that a fault-tolerance distributed system can operte at its optimal efficience. To present the guideline for selecting redistributing algorithms, simulation models of fault-tolerant system including redistribution algorithms are developed using SLAM II. The job arrival rate, service rate, failure and repair rate of nodes, and communication delay time due to load migration are used as parameters of simulation. The result of simulation shows that the job arrival rate and the failure rate of nodes are not deciding factors in affecting the relative efficiency of algorithms. Algorithm B shows relatively a consistent performance under various environments, although its performance is between those of other algorithms. If the communication delay time is longer than average job processing time, the performance of algorithm B is better than others. If the repair rate is relatively small or communication delay time is longer than service time, algorithm A leads to good performance. But in opposite environments, algorithm C is superior to other algorithms.

A Study on the Optimal Design of JIT Kanban System under Uncertain Environment (불확실한 환경하에서의 JIT 간판 시스템 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, it is identified that the optimal level of each performance measures (service and inventory level) is not sensitive to an uncertain environment under JIT Kanban system designed by Moeeni. Moreover, it is proposed that the optimal design method considering multiple performance characteristics is the optimal level decision method according to the relative importance differences of each performance when there exist multiple performance characteristics. The result from the simulation analysis shows that the number of Kanban for stage 3 (final process) and stage 2 is increased at the service level. It is found that the expected loss is minimal when the cycle time decreases and the container size increases. However, the stage 1 is not affected by the number and cycle time of Kanban. It is thus important to consider carefully the cycle time and the container size of the Kanban to satisfy the demand in right time. In case of inventory level, the working inventory level decreases when the container size is decreased and the working inventory level also decreases slightly when the cycle time of the Kankban is increased in stage 1 and 2.

Performance Estimation of KPST to GPS Time Offset for GNSS Interoperability to Increase Navigational Performance

  • In order to increase the practical use and navigational application performance of the Korean Positioning System (KPS), it is required to provide interoperability with other Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This kind of interoperability can be obtained by broadcasting the time offset between KPS and GNSS using a KPS navigation message. With the assumption that KPS Time (KPST) will be generated by the similar method and equipment of UTC(KRIS), the overall behavior of KPST will be close to that of UTC(KRIS). Therefore, the time offset between KPST and GPS Time (GPST) is estimated by using UTC(KRIS) instead of KPST because KPST can not available at the present time. In this paper, we describe the estimation results of the KPS to GPS Time Offset (KGTO) obtained by using a GNSS time transfer receiver which reference inputs are fed from UTC(KRIS). The estimated KGTO performance is compared to the time offset between UTC(KRIS) and UTC(USNO) which is used to generate GPST and considered as the real GPST. The time offset between UTC(KRIS) and UTC(USNO) is obtained by using the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) Circular T report. From the results, it is observed that KGTO can be estimated under 10 ns with the assumption that KPST will be generated by a similar method of UTC(KRIS) generation.

Influence of time-varying attenuation effect of damage index on seismic fragility of bridge

  • Fragility as one of the most effective methods to evaluate seismic performance, which is greatly affected by damage index. Taking a multi span continuous rigid frame offshore bridge as an example. Based on fragility and reliability theory, considering coupling effect of time-varying durability damage of materials and time-varying attenuation effect of damage index to analyze seismic performance of offshore bridges. Results show that IDA curve considering time-varying damage index is obviously below that without considering; area enclosed by IDA of 1# pier and X-axis under No.1 earthquake considering this effect is 96% of that without considering. Area enclosed by damage index of 1# pier and X-axis under serious damage with considering time-varying damage index is 90% of that without considering in service period. Time-varying damage index has a greater impact on short pier when ground motion intensity is small, while it has a great impact on high pier when the intensity is large. The area enclosed by fragility of bridge system and X-axis under complete destruction considering time-varying damage index is 165% of that without considering when reach designed service life. Therefore, time-varying attenuation effect of damage index has a great impact on seismic performance of bridge in service period.

Performance analysis of mini MAP architecture in real time application by simulation method (실시간 응용시 Mini MAP의 시뮬레이션에 의한 성능해석에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the performance of Mini MAP architecture is analyzed by simulation method. Token rotation time and waiting time are obtained by simulation. The results of the simulation are compared with these of the analytic model. From these comparisons, it is shown that simulation results are approximately identical to analytic results. Mini MAP architecture has good real time performances in token rotation time and waiting time and can be used to many real time applications.
