This study describes the aging behavior of soils and its mechanism, which have been reported in the literatures mainly by Mitchell(1986) and Schmertmann(1991). It could be known that aging of soils has both positive and negative effects on mechanical properties of soils. In order to show aging effects on dam behavior, a parametric study was carried out based considering the presence of a weak area within clay core zone of the fill dam. From the comparison of results obtained from numerical analysis and filed investigation, age-softening phenomena occurred within core zone during about 30 years after its completion.

This study was performed to investigate the material behavior of hybrid thermoplastic composites contained glass fiber and calcium carbonate. The composite was prepared with each combination ratio of calcium carbonate, and the content of glass fiber was fixed with 10% by weight. In order to investigate the material behavior for various combination ratio, tension test, flexural test, and impact test were performed. Microscopic observation were conducted to examine the fractured surface of specimen for tension test. And the material behavior of the hybrid thermoplastic composite immersed in salt water with definite time was investigated.
The subjects of this study were 4th to 6th grade children and instruments were the Teenage Inventory of Social Skills, the Internal-External Control Scale, the Self-Esteem Scale, and the Peer Relations Questionnaire. In the concurrent study, children lower in social skills and in self-esteem and external in locus of control reported more bullying and victimization. Children higher in social skills and in self-esteem and internal in locus of control reported more prosocial behavior. In the prospective study, children lower in social skills were more involved in bullying and victimization. Children higher in social skills reported more prosocial behavior. The effects of locus of control and self-esteem on peer relations diminished over time. However, social skills had a significant influence on bullying, victimization and prosocial behavior up to two years later. Children lower in psychosocial development were more vulnerable to peer victimization.
Rebar corrosion in concrete is one of the main causes of reduction of service life of reinforced concrete buildings. This paper presents the influence of rebar corrosion on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings subjected to strong earthquake ground motion. Different levels of rebar corrosion scenarios were applied on a typical four story RC frame. The deteriorated conditions as a result of these scenarios include loss in cross-sectional area and loss of mechanical properties of the reinforcement bars, loss in bond strength, and loss in concrete strength and its modulus of elasticity. Dynamic analyses of the frame with different corrosion scenarios are performed with selected strong earthquake ground motion records. The influences of degradation in both concrete and reinforcement on structural behavior are investigated by comparing the various parameters of the frame under different corrosion scenarios with respect to each other. The results show that the progressive deterioration of the frame due to rebar corrosion causes serious structural behavior changes such as change in failure mode. The intensity, propagation time, and extensity of rebar corrosion have very important effects on the level of degradation of steel and concrete, as well as on the earthquake behavior of the structure.
The seismic behavior of a framed structure with chevron-type buckling restrained braces was investigated and their behavior factors, such as overstrength, ductility, and response modification factors, were evaluated. Two types of structures, building frame systems and dual systems, with 4, 8, 12, and 16 stories were designed per the IBC 2003, the AISC LRFD and the AISC Seismic Provisions. Nonlinear static pushover analyses using two different loading patterns and incremental dynamic analysis using 20 earthquake records were carried out to compute behavior factors. Time history analyses were also conducted with another 20 earthquakes to obtain dynamic responses. According to the analysis results, the response modification factors turned out to be larger than what is proposed in the provision in low-rise structures, and a little smaller than the code-values in the medium-rise structures. The dual systems, even though designed with smaller seismic load, showed superior static and dynamic performances.
The puropse of the study is to investigate value consciousness and management behavior of the new-generation housewives' on the family life, that is to say, household work, time management, money management, human-relationship, reducing environ-mertal pollution. To achieve this purposes, reviewing literatures and emporical research have been conducted. The sample of this study was selected from the married women living in Seoul. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows. The mean score of new-generation housewives' value consciousness on the family life was relatively high(3,94 out of 5). The mean score of value consciousness on reducing environmental pollution was the highest, and that on household work was the lowest. The mean score of new-generation housewives' management behavior on the family life was a little high(3.47 out of 5). The mean score of management behavior on reducing environmental pollution was the highest, and that on money management was the lowest. The new-generation urban housewives' have responded positively concerning the relationship between value consciousness and management behavior on the family life.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors of the health promotion behavior of child care center teachers. Methods: This study conducted a survey of 200 child day care center teachers in Seoul from January to February, 2017. This study examined the actual condition of health promotion behavior, perceived health status and the determinants of health promotion behavior of child care center teachers. Results: The factors affecting the health promotion behaviors of the child care teachers were age, working time, perceived benefit, barrier, and social support. Conclusion: These findings suggest that it is necessary to develop and apply a health promotion program for child care teachers.
So far, the evaluation of machine translation has used a numerical approach, but there is evidence that it is not sufficient to reflect the characteristics or behavior of machine translation users(Hutchins, 2007; Wu et al., 2016; Park et al., 2013). Therefore, this study focused on the purpose of use and purchasing behavior of machine translation users. At this time, the indirect comparison method introduced by Morgan and Hunt(1994) was used to measure cognitive gaps and analyze the purchasing behavior of users. According to the analysis of association rules using cognitive gaps, the smaller the cognitive gap, the more positive the purchase behavior. In addition, procedural knowledge derived from language knowledge is activated in situations involving responsibility, and in routine situations, procedural knowledge trained from pragmatic knowledge works.
The number of healthcare products available for pets has increased in recent times, which has prompted active research into wearable devices for pets. However, the data collected through such devices are limited by outliers and missing values owing to the anomalous and irregular characteristics of pets. Hence, we propose pet behavior recognition based on a hybrid one-dimensional convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short- term memory (LSTM) model using pet wearable devices. An Arduino-based pet wearable device was first fabricated to collect data for behavior recognition, where gyroscope and accelerometer values were collected using the device. Then, data augmentation was performed after replacing any missing values and outliers via preprocessing. At this time, the behaviors were classified into five types. To prevent bias from specific actions in the data augmentation, the number of datasets was compared and balanced, and CNN-LSTM-based deep learning was performed. The five subdivided behaviors and overall performance were then evaluated, and the overall accuracy of behavior recognition was found to be about 88.76%.
Objectives : The study examined mothers' oral health knowledge and oral health management behavior to their children that affect directly children's oral health to prepare basic aiming at children. Methods : Therefore, a survey of 235 mothers in 10 kindergartens located in Seoul was conducted by self-administered questionnaires. Results : As to mothers' oral health knowledge, the correct-answer rate for questions about tooth-decay was highest, and the level of 'middle (5-7 points)' was the most common with 50.0%. Regarding oral health knowledge according to mothers' general characteristics, the higher academic background and family's monthly earnings were, the higher oral health knowledge was. It showed a statistically significant difference(p<.01). In terms of mothers' oral health management behavior to their children, 79.1% of mothers who had the visiting experience in the dentist's for caries prevention was highest. As to the number of brushing, the twice was highest with 51.2%, and regarding brushing time 2min was highest52.6%. Also, the rate of using the fluoride toothpaste was 68.4%, and the rate of mothers who helped their children's brushing was 83.3%. As to the oral health management behavior to their children by mothers' oral health knowledge, mothers with higher oral health knowledge used the fluoride toothpaste showing that there was a significant difference(p<.01). Also, mothers with higher oral health knowledge helped more children's brushing, so that there was a significant difference(p<.05). Regarding the oral health management behavior to their children according to mothers' visiting experience in the dentist's, mothers who visited the dentist's during the recent one year had higher visiting experience of dentist's for children's caries prevention(p<.01) and longer time of brushing by 3min(p<.05), and helped their children's brushing a lot. The findings showed a significant difference(p<.001). Conclusions : As the results above, as mothers' oral health knowledge and oral health management behaviors to their children affect closely children's oral health, more systematic, specific and active oral health programs should be provided to mothers.
