해양탑재체 스캔 미캐니즘의 포인팅 안정성 연구 (Pointing Stability Study of the GOCI Scan Mechanism)

  • 해양탑재체는 2008년 말 발사예정인 정지궤도 통신해양기상위성의 주요 탑재체로, 한반도 주의의 $2500km\times2500km$ 영역의 해색을 관찰한다. 해양탑재체는 전 영역을 16개의 슬롯으로 나누어 관찰하며, 이를 위하여 이축경사 방식의 스캔 미캐니즘을 이용한다. 본 연구에서는 해양탑재체에서 사용하고 있는 스캔 방식의 포인팅 안전성을 분석하였다. 또한 분석결과를 일반적으로 많이 사용하고 있는 짐벌 방식과 비교하였다. 이를 위해 각 방식의 포인팅 모델과 포인팅 안정성 척도를 제시하였다. 분석결과 이축경사 방식이 뛰어난 포인팅 안정성을 갖는다는 것을 보일 수 있었다. 해석결과는 각 미캐니즘의 규격 선성과 분석에 활용될 수 있다.

  • Active part mating algorithm using 6-axis force sensor data for the assembly automation and/or teletobotics is presented and experimented. Parts to be mated are cylindrical and have no chamfers. There are basically two modes. One is the normal mode with only a positional error, the other is the tilted mode with an orientational error in addition to a positional error. The used algorithm distinguishes a contact external to the hole from that of internal to the hole in order to perform part-mating in spite of the relative tilt between the hole and the peg.

  • Hydrodynamic lateral forces acting on circumferentially grooved and tapered pistons in hydraulic piston pumps are analyzed for the case where the axis of piston and cylinder are tilted with each other. The effects of grooves and tilting on lateral force and leakage flowrate are discussed from the analytical solution of one-dimensional Reynolds equation. The analytical solution is in accordance with the numerical solution of two-dimensional Reynolds equation as the number of grooves increases.

  • 인공위성의 자세결정을 위해 3축 magnetometer에 의해 측정된 지구 자기장의 자료와 IGRF 모델(tilted-eccentric dipole 모델)을 사용하였다. 지구자기장 모델으 값들을 계산하여 magnetometer 측정자료들과 비교해 보았고 이것으로부터 두 자세각 $\alpha$ 각과 $\beta$들을 구하였다. 이 두 각들을 이용하여 자세결정에 사용되는 Z 축과 자기장의 수직성분 사이의 실 자세각 $\gamma$ 에 대한 bound $\gamma1$$\gamma2$를 계산하여 UoSAT-11, 14, 22의 자세 상태를 알아보았다.

Improved Orientation Strategy for Energy-Efficiency in Photovoltaic Panels

  • This paper presents an improved orientation strategy for energy-efficiency in photovoltaic (PV) panels. Conventionally, PV panels are tilted with the site's latitude angle or the difference between the latitude angle and the solar declination angle. A monthly-based orientation strategy has been proposed and analyzed in this study. The proposed strategy implies that the PV panels are tilted with the monthly-based angle that achieves the maximum incident radiation. Furthermore, the impact of using the proposed orientation strategy and three conventional strategies on the produced power and on the PV system design features has been investigated in detail. A Japanese city (Fukuoka) and an Egyptian city (Al-Kharijah) have been considered as locations for the PV power system installation. The results showed that the proposed strategy achieved an increase in the power produced from the PV power systems at the two different sites, and consequently the required solar cells area can be saved. Therefore, the cost of the PV power system components can be reduced including the solar cells area and the land area.

  • We have studied the viewing angle control of a twist nematic liquid crystal display (TN-LCD). The TN-LCD exhibits a bad image quality along vertical direction, due to characteristics such as low contrast ratio and grey scale inversion. The proposed new TN-LCD has the function of switching between the wide viewing mode and narrow viewing angle mode using two tilted LC layers at both sides of a TN-cell Tilt angles of the two LC layers, $14^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ were required in both wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle modes, respectively.

  • In this study, we presented comparative discrimination methods to identify various line and planar defects observed in nonpolar a-GaN epilayers on r-sapphire substrates. Unlike the case of conventional c-GaN, which is dominated by perfect threading dislocations, systematic identification of undistinguishable defects using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is necessary to suppress the propagation of defects in nonpolar GaN epilayers. Cross-sectional TEM images near the [0001] zone axis revealed that perfect mixed and pure screw type dislocations are visible, while pure edge, partial dislocations, and basal stacking faults (BSFs) are not discernible. In tilted cross-sectional TEM images along the [$1\bar{2}10$] zone axis, the dominant defects were BSFs and partial dislocations for the $g=10\bar{1}0$ and 0002 two-beam images, respectively. From plan view TEM images taken along the [$11\bar{2}0$] axis, it was found that the dominantpartial and perfect dislocations were Frank-Shockley with b=${\pm}1/6$<$20\bar{2}3$> and mixed type without an 1 component including b=${\pm}1/3$<$1\bar{2}10$> and ${\pm}1/3$<$\bar{2}110$>, respectively. Prismatic stacking faults were observed as inclined line contrast near the [0001] zone axis and were visible as band contrast in the two-beam images along the [$1\bar{2}10$] and [$11\bar{2}0$] zone axes.

  • 전 세계적으로 드론에 대한 관심이 급증하면서, 다양한 분야에서 드론 활용에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 드론의 호버링을 실현시킴으로써 드론의 기술기반을 확립한다. Arduino Uno를 주 제어장치로 사용하였으며, 3축 자세 및 방위각 센서로 부터 얻은 데이터를 필터를 거쳐 기울어진 정도를 파악한다. 이 기울어짐을 PID 제어를 통해 보정함으로써 안정적으로 수평자세제어가 가능한 드론을 구현한다.

Development of dynamic motion models of SPACE code for ocean nuclear reactor analysis

  • Lately, ocean nuclear power plants have attracted attention as one of diverse uses of nuclear power plants. Because ocean nuclear power plants are movable or transportable, it is necessary to analyze the thermal hydraulics in a moving frame of reference, and computer codes have been developed to predict thermal hydraulics in large moving systems. The purpose of this study is to incorporate a three dimensional dynamic motion model into the SPACE code (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE) so that the code is able to analyze thermal hydraulics in an ocean nuclear power plant. A rotation system that describes three-dimensional rotations about an arbitrary axis was implemented, and modifications were made to the one-dimensional momentum equations to reflect the rectilinear and rotational acceleration effects. To demonstrate the code's ability to solve a problem utilizing a rotational frame of reference, code calculations were conducted on various conceptual problems in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional pipeline loops. In particular, the code results for the three-dimensional pipeline loop with a tilted rotation axis agreed well with the multi-dimensional CFD results.

  • This paper describes a new design of optical flow estimation system with three cameras. Optical flow provides useful information of camera movement; however a unique solution is not usually available for unknowns including the depth information. A camera and two tilted cameras are used to have different view of angle and direction of movement to the camera axis. Geometric analysis is performed for cases of several independent movements. The ideas of taking advantage of the extra information for robot navigation are discussed with experimental results.
