$MgTiO_3-SrTiO_3$ 세라믹스의 마이크로파 유전특성 (Microwave Dielectric Properties of the $MgTiO_3-SrTiO_3$ Ceramics)

  • The(1-x) MgTiO$_3$-xSrTiO$_3$(x=0.03~0.04) ceramics were fabricated by the conventional mixed oxide method. The structural and microwave dielectric properties were investigated by XRD, SEM, EDS and network analyzer. The sintering temperature and time were 1275$^{\circ}C$~135$0^{\circ}C$ and 2hours, respectively. In the XRD results of 0.96MgTiO$_3$-0.04SrTiO$_3$ceramics, the perovskite structure of SrTiO$_3$and ilmenite structure of MgTiO$_3$phase were coexisted. The dielectric constant($\varepsilon$(sub)${\gamma}$) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$(sub)f) were increased with addition of SrTiO$_3$. In thie case of 0.96MgTiO$_3$-0.04SrTiO$_3$ ceramics sintered at 13$25^{\circ}C$, the dielectric constant, quality factor(Q) and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency($\tau$(sub)f) were 20.13, 7956(at 7.27GHz), and +1.76ppm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively.

TiW 박막을 이용한 극한 환경 MEMS용 3C-SiC의 Ohmic contact 형성 (Ohmic Contact Formation of SiC for Harsh Environment MEMS Using a TiW Thin-film)

  • In this study, the characteristics of 3C-SiC ohmic contact were investigated. Titanium-tungsten(TiW) films were used for contact metalization. The ohmic contact resistivity between 3C-SiC and TiW was measured by HP4155 and then calculated with the circular transmission line method(C-TLM). And also the physical properties of TiW and the interface between TiW and 3C-SiC were analyzed using XRD and AES. TiW films make a good role of a diffusion barrier and their contact properties with 3C-SiC are stable at high temperature.

  • Arc-melted Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-4Fe and Ti-(1,2) Si alloys were oxidized at 700, 800, 900 and $1000^{\circ}C$ in air. The oxidation resistance of Ti-4Fe was comparable to that of Ti-6Al-4V, while the oxidation resistance of Ti-(1,2) Si was superior to that of Ti-6Al-4V. Ti-2Si displayed the best oxidation resistance among the four alloys, but failed after oxidation at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 17h. The oxide scale formed on Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-4Fe and Ti-(1,2)Si consisted of ($TiO_2$ and a small amount of $Al_2$$O_3$), ($TiO_2$ and a small amount of dissolved iron), and ($TiO_2$ plus a small concentration of amorphous $SiO_2$), respectively. The oxide grains of the surface scale of the four alloys were generally fine and round.

  • In this study, the (l-x)$TiTe_3O_{8}$-x$MgTiO_3$ ceramics were investigated to obtain the improved dielectric properties of a high temperature stability and a sintering temperature of less than $900^{\circ}C$ which was necessary for the LTCC. According to the X-ray diffraction patterns of the (l-x)$TiTe_3O_{8}$-x$MgTiO_3$(x=0∼1) ceramics, the columbite structure of $TiTe_3O_{8}$ and ilmenite structure of $MgTiO_3$ were coexisted. Increasing the $MgTiO_3$ mole ratio(x), the density and dielectric constant were decreased and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was moved to the negative direction and the quality factor was increased. In the case of the 0.6$TiTe_3O_{8}$-0.4$MgTiO_3$ ceramics sintered at $830^{\circ}C$ for 3hr., the microwave dielectric properties were $\varepsilon_{\gamma}$=29.3, Q${\times}$$f_{\gamma}$=39.600GHz and $\tau$$_{f}$=+9.3ppm/$^{\circ}C$.

  • Surface alloying of Ti alloy by $CO_2$ laser is able to produce few hundred micrometers thick TiN or TiC surface-alloyed layer with high hardness on the substrate by injecting reaction gas($N_2$ or $CH_4$). Laser surface alloying by means of process control is in many applications essential in order to obtain predictable hardening layer. This research has been investigated the effect of such parameters on TiN and TiC gas alloying of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by $CO_2$ laser. The maximum surface hardness of TiN layer was obtained 1750Hv on the conditions of 0.8kW laser power, 0.8m/min scanning speed and 100% $N_2$ atmosphere. However, the maximum hardness of TiC formation layer after laser treatment was about 630Hv. As scanning speed was increased, the hardness and depth of these layers were decreased at constant laser power.

  • The aim of this research is to evaluate the wear properties of (TiB+TiC) paticulate reinforced titanium matrix composites (TMCs) by in-situ synthesis. Different particle sizes (1500, $150{\mu}m$) and contents (0.94, 1.88 and 3.76 mass% for Ti, 1.98 and 3.96 mass% for the Ti6Al4V alloy) of boron carbide were added to pure titanium and to a Ti6Al4V alloy matrix during vacuum induction melting to provide 5, 10 and 20 vol.% (TiB+TiC) particulate reinforcement amounts. The wear behavior of the (TiB+TiC) particulate reinforced TMCs is described in detail with regard to the coefficient of friction, the hardness, and the degree of reinforcement fragmentation during sliding wear. The worn surfaces of each sliding wear condition are shown for the three types of wear studied here: transfer layer wear, particle cohesion wear and the development of abrasive areas. The fine reinforcements of TMCs were easily fragmented from the Ti matrix as compared to coarse reinforcements, and fragmented debris accelerated the decrease in the wear resistance.

Ti$_3$SiC$_2$의 고온산화거동 (High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Ti$_3$SiC$_2$)

  • Ti$_3$SiC$_2$ material was synthesized via the powder metallurgical route, and oxidation tested between 900 and $1200^{\circ}C$ in air for up to 100 hr. The oxidation of $Ti_3$$SiC_2$ material resulted in the formation of $TiO_2$and $SiO_2$, accompanying the evolution of CO or $CO_2$ gases from the initial stage of oxidation. The oxidation resistance of $Ti_3$$SiC_2$ mainly owes the protectiveness of highly stoichiometric $SiO_2$. During the initial stage of oxidation, the dominant reaction was the inward transport of oxygen into the matrix. As the oxidation progressed, an outer $TiO_2$ layer and an inner ( $TiO_2$ + $SiO_2$) mixed layer formed. Between these layers and inside the oxide scale, numerous fine voids formed. Numerous, fine oxide grains formed at $900^{\circ}C$ developed into the outer coarse $TiO_2$ grains and an inner fine ($TiO_2$ + $SiO_2$) mixed grains at the higher temperatures. The oxidation resistance of$ Ti_3$SiC$_2$ progressively deteriorated as the oxidation temperature increased, forming thick scales above $1000^{\circ}C$. The outer coarse $TiO_2$ grains formed above $1100^{\circ}C$ grew rapidly mainly along (211).

Ti기 (TiC+TiB) 하이브리드 복합재료 반응생성합성 및 정밀주조 (In-situ Synthesis and Investment Casting of Titanium Matrix (TiC+TiB) Hybrid Composites)

  • The aim of the present work is to investigate the possibility of in-situ synthesis and net-shape forming of the titanium matrix (TiC+TiB) hybrid composites using a casting route. From the scanning electron microscopy, electron probe micro-analyzer, X-ray diffraction and thermodynamic calculations, the spherical TiC and needle like TiB reinforced hybrid titanium matrix composites could be obtained in-situ by the conventional melting and casting route between titanium and $B_4C$. No melt-mold reaction occurred between the titanium matrix (TiC+TiB) hybrid composites and the SKK mold, since the mold is consisted with interstitial and substitutional metal-mold reaction products. Not only the sound in-situ synthesis but also the economic net-shape forming of the titanium matrix (TiC+TiB) hybrid composites could be possible by the conventional casting route.

반응생성에 의한 Ti/TiB 복합재료의 제조와 기계적 성질 (In-site Processing and Mechanical Properties of Ti/TiB Composites)

  • 반응생성에 의한 Ti/TiB 복합재료를 제조하기 위한 반응분말$(TiB_2, B_4C)$, 소결온도, 소결시간을 결정하기 위하여 제조조건에 따른 반응생성상, 미세조직, 상대밀도 등을 조사하였다. 제조된 복합재료의 기계적 성질은 상온 압축항복강도로 평가하였다. 복합재료를 제조하기 위하여 혼합하는 $TiB_2$반응분말의 경우 $1300^{\circ}C, B_4C$ 반응분말의 경우 $1400^{\circ}C$의 소결온도가 최적조건임을 확인하였다. 본 공정에 의해서 제조된 복합재료의 압축항복강도는 비교재인 Ti-6Al-4V 보다 모두 우수하였다. 또한 $TiB_2$반응분말에 의해서 제조된 복합재료가 $B_4C$ 반응분말에 의해서 제조된 복합재료보다 우수한 압축항복강도를 나타내었다. 이는, 압축시험한 복합재료에서의 균열전파양상을 조사한 결과, 강화상과 기지간의 접합특성을 $B_4C$ 반응분말에 의한 복합재료의 접합특성보다 우수하였기 때문이었다.
