This study proposes an improved binarization method to improve image recognition rate. The research goal is to minimize the information loss that occurs during the binarization process, and to transform the object of the original image that cannot be determined through the transformation process into an image that can be judged. The proposed method uses a stepwise segmentation method of an image and divides blocks using prime numbers. Also, within one block, a trapezoidal type of fuzzy is applied. The fuzzy trapezoid is binarized by dividing the brightness histogram area into three parts according to the degree of membership. As a result of the experiment, information loss was minimized in general images. In addition, it was found that the converted binarized image expressed the object better than the original image in the special image in which the brightness region was tilted to one side.

In this paper, we propose improved maximum access delay time, noise variance, and power delay profile (PDP) estimation schemes for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system in multipath fading channels. To this end, we adopt the approximate maximum likelihood (ML) estimation strategy. For the first step, the log-likelihood function (LLF) of the received OFDM symbols is derived by utilizing only the cyclic redundancy induced by cyclic prefix (CP) without additional information. Then, the set of the initial path powers is sub-optimally obtained to maximize the derived LLF. In the second step, we can select a subset of the initial path power set, i.e. the maximum access delay time, so as to maximize the modified LLF. Through numerical simulations, the benefit of the proposed method is verified by comparison with the existing methods in terms of normalized mean square error, erroneous detection, and good detection probabilities.

The solid-state drive (SSD) possesses higher input and output speeds, more resistance to physical shock, and lower latency compared with regular hard disks; hence, it is an increasingly popular storage device. However, tiny components on an internal printed circuit board (PCB) hinder the manual detection of malfunctioning components. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, automatic detection of components through convolutional neural networks (CNN) can provide a sound solution for this area. This study proposes applying the YOLOv5 model to SSD PCB component detection, which is the first step in detecting defective components. It achieves pioneering state-of-the-art results on the SSD PCB dataset. Contrast experiments are conducted with YOLOX, a neck-and-neck model with YOLOv5; evidently, YOLOv5 obtains an mAP@0.5 of 99.0%, essentially outperforming YOLOX. These experiments prove that the YOLOv5 model is effective for tiny object detection and can be used to study the second step of detecting defective components in the future.
Purpose: This study investigated the mediating effects of acceptance action on the relationship between diabetes distress and self-stigma in older adults with diabetes. Methods: A descriptive research approach was adopted using 187 patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus by an endocrinology doctor. The data were collected from 26 to 31 March, 2020 and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The mean scores for diabetes distress, self-stigma, and acceptance action were 2.98±0.64, 2.54±0.74, and 4.16±0.35, respectively. Acceptance action partially mediated the relationship between diabetes distress and self-stigma (z=1.98, p=.024), with an explanatory power of 51.0%. Conclusion: To reduce diabetes self-stigma among old adults in diabetes distress situations, it is necessary to improve their acceptance action and develop step-by-step differentiated acceptance action enhancement programs through multidisciplinary collaborations.
In this study, an electronic parts assembly training system using Leap Motion was developed in consideration of the processes actually operated in the assembly process of electronic products. Based on Leap Motion and Oculus VR equipment, the system was developed to transfer user's hand movement data in real time and convert it into hand movement in virtual space so that electronic parts assembly simulation can be performed step by step. Through this, it was confirmed that the user can obtain an experience similar to the actual electronic parts assembly work, prevent errors that may occur during the assembly process, and improve proficiency. It is expected that this thesis will provide directions for the quality improvement and development of various education and training programs for virtual reality-based manufacturing processes.
Processes that products we consume that contain dairy foods comprise planning → design → production → quality/suitability assessment → safety verification → launch → distribution → consumption. Analysis of nutrients and potential toxins at each stage in the production process is essential to verify food quality, suitability, and safety. Products display ingredient lists and nutrient content to help consumers choose healthy foods. These products should also be fully assessed for microbes and toxins before reaching consumers. Products require verification through test inspections. However, this step has reduced value from a food manufacturer's viewpoint, because it does not visibly impact real economic trends. The most important first step in determining the quality and suitability of products is the inspection capability of food companies.
A one-step method for nanoscale patterning of silver ionic ink on a substrate is developed using a microscale, elastic mold deformation. This method yields unique micro/nanoscale metallic structures that differ from those produced using the original molds. The linewidth of these metallic structures is significantly reduced (approximately 10 times) through the sidewall deformation of the original mold cavity on a thin liquid film, as verified by finite element analysis. The process facilitates the fabrication of various, isolated and complex micro/nanoscale metallic structures with negligible residual layers at low cost and high throughput. These structures can be utilized for various applications, including optoelectronics, wearable sensors, and metaverse-related devices. Our approach offers a promising tool for manipulation and fabrication of micro/nanoscale structures of various functional materials.
Health systems science is a new medical educational field added to the traditional medical education curricula of basic and clinical sciences. Health systems science emphasizes a more comprehensive approach utilizing systems thinking to care for patients, including interactions between multiple healthcare systems. In this review, I explore how health systems science education can be applied when medical instructors teach students in clinical clerkships through representative case studies. This study first looks at examples of health systems science education in clinical clerkship in the United States and suggests how to develop the curriculum of health systems science for clinical learning environments in Korea by combining Kotter's 8-step change management model and Kern's 6-step curriculum development model. Finally, based on practical examples from actual clinical practice education situations, suggestions are made regarding how to develop the entire educational program of a medical school from the stage of applying health systems science at the individual level to clinical practice education.
Leakage defects account for a significant proportion of defect cases in modular homes. There are factors that can cause leakage defects at each stage, and quality control measures are required to minimize them. An improvement plan to prevent leakage defects was applied from the design drawings to the site of a modular public rental apartment complex in Sejong City 6-3, and a quality control plan was proposed to minimize leakage defects in the remaining process processes.
The Korea Augmentation Satellite System (KASS) has been certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and commenced Safety-of-Life (SoL) service at the end of 2023. KASS complies with the APV-I signal-in-space performance requirements defined in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommendation Practices (SARPs). The performance of KASS is verified through two steps. In the first step, design conformity from the aspect of performance is verified by both review and analysis of design and simulation. In the second step, operational conformity is tested and assessed by operational testing using real data and a deployed system with operational SWs and configurations. This paper presents a methodology, a procedure and results for the KASS operational testing. Finally, performance degradation events and results by month and region during the operational testing are presented and analyzed.
