  • RLS (Recursive-least-squares) algorithm is known to have good convergence and excellent error level after convergence. However, there is a disadvantage that numerical instability is included in the algorithm due to inverse matrix calculation. In this paper, we propose an algorithm with no matrix inversion to avoid the instability aforementioned. The proposed algorithm still keeps the same convergence performance. In the proposed algorithm, we adopt an averaged gradient-based step size as a self-adjusted step size. In addition, a variable forgetting factor is introduced to provide superior performance for time-varying channel estimation. Through simulations, we compare performance with conventional RLS and show its equivalency. It also shows the merit of the variable forgetting factor in time-varying channels.

  • In this study, the hydrogen reduction behavior of ball-milled NiO nanopowder was investigated depending on the partial pressure of water vapor. The hydrogen reduction behavior was analyzed by thermogravimetry and hygrometry under heating to 873 K in hydrogen. In order to change the partial pressure of the water vapor, the dew point of hydrogen was controlled in the range of 248 K~293 K by passing high-purity hydrogen through a saturator that contained water. Interestingly, with the increase in the dew point of the hydrogen atmosphere, the first step of the hydrogen reduction process decreased and the second step gradually increased. After the first step, a pore volume analysis revealed that the pore size distribution in the condition with a higher water vapor pressure shifted to a larger size, whereas the opposite appearedat a lower pressure. Thus, it was found that the decrease in the pore volume during the chemical reaction controlled process at a dew point of 248 K caused a reduction in retardation in the diffusion controlled process.

  • The orders of Design-Build Delivery System (DBDS) in a large and public construction project have been increasing. Single Source Responsibility (SSR) for design and construction, which contributes to quality improvement of design and construction, has been performed. The DBDS performs SSR for design and construction, but, it has not maximized effect because of the dissatisfied alternative analysis procedures which are based on constructability evaluation and the information system in the design step. In this research, Constructability Evaluation Factors (CEFs) that must be evaluated, investigated, and reflected in the basic design step for design-build projects. The CEF proposed and the business process of each conductor has been systematized. To propose constructability evaluation factors, first classify drawing information by the constructability evaluation sphere. CEFs must be proposed to evaluate factors according to interference among work items. Second, applicable CEFs must be classified by preference ranking and weight. Third, the values of constructability factors in accordance with building elements and work items, need to be calculated. Finally, the CEFs proposal will support rational decision making, design cost reduction, and quality improvement through the values for constructability of building elements and work items.

  • A Fe-Ni Bainitic steel as a weathering steel application was developed by combining its excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in maritime environments. Nickel concentration (0.4-3 wt%) and inverted austempering multi-step (IAM) process were primary determinants of the microstructure of the Fe-Ni Bainitic steel. The initial austempering steel was performed at 300 ℃ for 600 seconds to obtain a partly bainitic transformation. The steel was heated again for 1800 s at 450 ℃. The microstructure was comprised of ferrite, a blocky martensite/austenite island, and a homogeneous lath-shape bainite structure with widths ranging from 4.67 to 6.89 ㎛. The maximum strength, 1480 MPa, was obtained with 3 wt% nickel. In this study, corrosion behavior was investigated utilizing potentiodynamic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. A higher nickel content in Fe-Ni Bainitic steel refined the grain size, improved the bainite fraction, lowered the corrosion rate to 0.0257 mmpy, and increased the charge transfer of film resistance to 1369 Ω.

  • Many potential sources of bias are used in several steps of the radar-rainfall estimation process because the hydrological and meteorological radars measure the rainfall amount indirectly. Previous studies on radar-rainfall uncertainties were performed to reduce the uncertainty of each step by using bias correction methods in the quantitative radar-rainfall estimation process. However, these studies do not provide comprehensive uncertainty for the entire process and the relative ratios of uncertainty between each step. Consequently, in this study, a suitable approach is proposed that can quantify the uncertainties at each step of the quantitative radar-rainfall estimation process and show the uncertainty propagation through the entire process. First, it is proposed that, in the suitable approach, the new concept can present the initial and final uncertainties, variation of the uncertainty as well as the relative ratio of uncertainty at each step. Second, the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) and Uncertainty Delta Method (UDM) were applied to quantify the uncertainty and analyze the uncertainty propagation for the entire process. Third, for the uncertainty quantification of radar-rainfall estimation at each step, two quality control algorithms, two radar-rainfall estimation relations, and two bias correction methods as post-processing through the radar-rainfall estimation process in 18 rainfall cases in 2012. For the proposed approach, in the MEM results, the final uncertainty (from post-processing bias correction method step: ME = 3.81) was smaller than the initial uncertainty (from quality control step: ME = 4.28) and, in the UDM results, the initial uncertainty (UDM = 5.33) was greater than the final uncertainty (UDM = 4.75). However uncertainty of the radar-rainfall estimation step was greater because of the use of an unsuitable relation. Furthermore, it was also determined in this study that selecting the appropriate method for each stage would gradually reduce the uncertainty at each step. Therefore, the results indicate that this new approach can significantly quantify uncertainty in the radar-rainfall estimation process and contribute to more accurate estimates of radar rainfall.

  • Second-order rate constants ($k_{CN^-}$) have been measured for nucleophilic substitution reactions of Y-substituted phenyl benzoates (1a-r) with $CN^-$ ion in 80 mol % $H_2O$/20 mol % DMSO at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. The Br${\o}$nsted-type plot is linear with ${\beta}_{1g}$ = -0.49, a typical ${\beta}_{1g}$ value for reactions reported to proceed through a concerted mechanism. Hammett plots correlated with ${\sigma}^{\circ}$ and ${\sigma}^-$ constants exhibit many scattered points. In contrast, the Yukawa-Tsuno plot for the same reaction exhibits excellent linearity with ${\rho}_Y$ = 1.37 and r = 0.34, indicating that a negative charge develops partially on the oxygen atom of the leaving aryloxide in the rate-determining step (RDS). Although two different mechanisms are plausible (i.e., a concerted mechanism and a stepwise pathway in which expulsion of the leaving group occurs at the RDS), the reaction has been concluded to proceed through a concerted mechanism on the basis of the magnitude of ${\beta}_{1g}$ and ${\rho}_Y$ values.

  • In the communication mobile terminal, Vocabulary recognition system has low recognition rates, because this problems are due to phoneme feature extract from inaccurate vocabulary. Therefore they are not recognize the phoneme and similar phoneme misunderstanding error. To solve this problem, this paper propose the system model, which based on the two step process. First, input phoneme is represent by number which measure the distance of phonemes through phoneme likelihood process. next step is recognize the result through the reliability measure. By this process, we minimize the phoneme misunderstanding error caused by inaccurate vocabulary and perform error correction rate for error provrd vocabulary using phoneme likelihood and reliability. System performance comparison as a result of recognition improve represent 2.7% by method using error pattern learning and semantic pattern.
