Perforation threshold energy of carbon fiber composite laminates

  • Two carbon fiber composite laminates, $[0/90]_{2S}$ and $[0/+45/90/-45]_S$, were considered in this work to find out the perforation threshold energy to complete the perforation process and the corresponding maximum contact force. Explicit finite element commercial software, LS-DYNA, was used to predict these values. According to the simulation results, these two types of composite laminates were tested by using a vertical drop-weight testing machine. After testing, the damage condition of these specimens were observed and compared with the results from finite element analysis. The testing results indicate that the perforation threshold energy is 6 Joules for $[0/90]_{2S}$ and 7 Joules for $[0/+45/90/-45]_S$, which is in good agreement with the simulation results. Also, the maximum contact force at the case of perforation threshold energy is the lowest as compared to the maximum contact forces occurring at the impact energy that is larger or less than the perforation threshold energy.

무선 센서 네트워크 환경에서 적응형 임계값 설정 방법 (An Adaptive Threshold Method in Wireless Sensor Network Environments)

  • Wireless sensor networks are emerging as a solution for a wide range of data gathering applications. The most difficult challenge for the design of sensor nodes is the need for significant reductions in energy consumption. The threshold methods which filter redundant and similar data can be used to save energy. In this paper, we propose the adaptive threshold method to effectively manage the energy in wireless sensor nodes. In the adaptive threshold method, wireless sensor nodes can change the thresholds dynamically as the sensing environments vary. The simulation results show that the adaptive threshold method works very effectively even when we experience the significant volatility in the data. This scheme can be used in order to monitor the malfunction in the equipment of semiconductor manufacturing line.

에너지 추종방법을 이용한 안정적 햅틱 상호작용 (Stable Haptic Interaction with Reference Energy Following Scheme)

  • A recently proposed method for stabilizing haptic interfaces and teleoperation systems was tested with a 'PHANToM' commercial haptic device. The 'Passivity Observer' (PO) and 'Passivity Control1er' (PC) stabilization method was applied to stabilize the system but also excited a high frequency mode in the device. To solve this problem, we propose a method to use a timevarying desired energy threshold instead of fixed zero energy threshold for the PO, and make the actual energy input follow the timevarying energy threshold. With the time-varying energy threshold, we make the PC control action smooth without sudden impulsive behavior by distributing the dissipation. The proposed new PO/PC approach is applied to PHANToM with high stiffness (K = 5000N/m), and stable and smooth contact is guaranteed. Resetting and active environment display problems also can be solved with the reference energy following idea.

Gamma spectrum denoising method based on improved wavelet threshold

  • Adverse effects in the measured gamma spectrum caused by radioactive statistical fluctuations, gamma ray scattering, and electronic noise can be reduced by energy spectrum denoising. Wavelet threshold denoising can be used to perform multi-scale and multi-resolution analysis on noisy signals with small root mean square errors and high signal-to-noise ratios. However, in traditional wavelet threshold denoising methods, there are signal oscillations in hard threshold denoising and constant deviations in soft threshold denoising. An improved wavelet threshold calculation method and threshold processing function are proposed in this paper. The improved threshold calculation method takes into account the influence of the number of wavelet decomposition layers and reduces the deviation caused by the inaccuracy of the threshold. The improved threshold processing function can be continuously guided, which solves the discontinuity of the traditional hard threshold function, avoids the constant deviation caused by the traditional soft threshold method. The examples show that the proposed method can accurately denoise and preserves the characteristic signals well in the gamma energy spectrum.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크는 한정된 자원의 센서 노드들로 구성되어 있고, 한번 구성된 후에는 유지 보수가 어렵다는 단점을 갖고 있다. 따라서 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 에너지 소비를 최소화하고, 한정된 자원을 효율적으로 사용하여 네트워크 수명을 최대화하는 것이 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 클러스터링 방식에서 클러스터 수를 효율적으로 지정하여 에너지 소모량을 최적화하는 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 무선 전송에 소비되는 에너지양은 거리(임계값)에 따라 많은 차이가 있으므로 이러한 임계값을 고려하여 클러스터 수를 지정함으로써 에너지 소비를 줄이는 방식이다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 클러스터링 기법은 LEACH(Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)에 비해 전체 에너지 소모량 측면에서 높은 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

  • Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 Threshold-Tuning을 통한 노드들간의 균형적인 에너지 소모를 위한 알고리즘 (BECT : A Balanced Energy Consumption Algorithm by Threshold-Tuning)을 제안한다. BECT는 노드간 에너지 균형을 맞추어 네트워크의 수명 (Network Lifetime)을 연장한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) 프로토콜을 기반으로 구현하였으며, GloMoSim 2.0을 이용하여 실험을 하였다. 실험 결과 BECT가 실험 토폴로지에 따라 DSR의 에너지 균형을 17-31% 향상시키며, 데이터 전송율이나 제어 패킷 비율에 있어서도 향상된 성능을 보여준다.

오경보 확률 제어를 통한 적응적 임계치 사용 에너지 검출 스펙트럼 센싱의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Energy Detection Spectrum Sensing Using Adaptive Threshold through Controlling False alarms)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 에너지 스펙트럼 센싱 할 경우 고정된 FA를 기반으로 정해진 임계값에 따라 센싱이 진행된다. 하지만 SNR 상태가 높다면 낮은 레벨의 SNR에서보 비해 오경보 확률이 일어날 확률이 상대적으로 적어진다. 따라서 90%로 이상의 검출확률을 얻는 구간에 대하여 FA를 제어하는 방법으로 오경보 확률을 높게 설정하지 않아도 검출확률이 유지 되는지를 확인한다. 따라서 CR사용자의 SNR 상태에 따라 FA값을 컨트롤하여 적응적 임계값을 얻는 시스템 모델을 제안하고 성능을 분석한다.

  • In most sensor networks, nodes can be easily compromised by adversaries due to hostile environments. Adversaries may use compromised nodes to inject false reports into the sensor networks. Such false report attacks will cause false alarms that can waste real-world response effort, and draining the finite amount of energy resource in the battery-powered network. A dynamic enroute scheme proposed by Yu and Guan can detect and drop such false reports during the forwarding phase. In this scheme, choosing a threshold value is very important, as it trades off between security power and energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a threshold determining method which uses the fuzzy rule-based system. The base station periodically determines a threshold value though the fuzzy rule-based system. The number of cluster nodes, the value of the key dissemination limit, and the remaining energy of nodes are used to determine the threshold value.

A Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Scheme with an Adaptive Energy Threshold in Cognitive Radios

  • Cognitive radio (CR) technique is a useful tool for improving spectrum utilization by detecting and using the vacant frequency bands while avoiding interference to the primary user. The sensing performance in a CR network can be improved by allowing some CR users to perform cooperative spectrum sensing. In this paper, we propose a new sensing algorithm that utilizes an adaptive energy threshold for cooperative spectrum sensing in which a changeable energy threshold is adopted by the CR users for improving local sensing performance. Through the proposed scheme, the reliability of global decision can be enhanced mainly due to the improvement in local sensing performance.

Threshold burnup for recrystallization and model for rim porosity in the high burnup $UO_2$ fuel

  • Applicability of the threshold burnup for rim formation was investigated as a function of temperature by Rest's model. The threshold burnup was the lowest in the intermediate temperature region, while on the other temperature regions the threshold burnup is higher. The rim porosity was predicted by the van der Waals equation based of the rim pore radius of 0.75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and the overpressurization model on rim pores. The calculated centerline temperature is in good agreement with the measured temperature. However, more efforts seem to be necessary for the mechanistic model of the rim effect including rim growth with the fuel burnup.
