A quantitative non-contact multi-point measurement system is proposed to the measurement of three-dimensional movement of floating vessels by using digital image processing. The instantaneous three-dimensional movement of a floating structure which is floating in a small water tank is measured by this system and its three-dimensional movement is reconstructed by the measurement results. The validity of this system is verified by position identification for spatially distributed known positional values of basic landmarks set for the camera calibration. It is expected that this system is applicable to the non-contact measurement for an unsteady physical phenomenon especially for the measurement of three-dimensional movement of floating vessels in the laboratory model test.

In a three-dimensional/two-dimensional convertible parallax barrier display, an additional layer compensating the color dispersion for three-dimensional display can distort displayed image in the two-dimensional mode. We analyze the effect of the color dispersion compensating layer on two-dimensional image by computer simulations.
In this paper, we propose a series of calibrations f3r the x-ray three dimensional imaging system. In the developed x-ray system, a three dimensional inner and outer shape of an object can be reconstructed out of two dimensional transmitted x-ray image set, which are acquired by projecting x-ray to the object from different views. To achieve this, a reconstruction algorithm which estimates and updates the three dimensional volume from x-ray images is developed. The algorithm is named as uniform and simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique(USART) which is an iterative method estimating a 3D volume based on its projected images. In this method, it is assumed that the imaging conditions that are the relative positions between the x-ray sources, object and the image planes are blown. Practically it is not easy to know the three dimensional coordinate of the components of the system, since the x-ray is not visible and the image distortions are present due to the optical components in the system. In this paper, methods of correcting image distortions are present firstly. Then the coordinates of the x-ray systems are calibrated from the x-ray images of the grid pattern. Some experimental results on these calibrations are present and discussed.
The purpose of this study was to clarify the spatial relationship in presurgical examination and to aid surgical planning and postoperative evaluation of patients with facial bone injury. For this study, three-dimensional images of facial bone fracture were reconstructed by computed image analysis system and three-dimensional reconstructive program integrated in computed tomography. The obtained results were as follows: 1. Serial conventional computed tomograms were value in accurately depicting the facial bone injuries and three-dimensional reconstructive images demonstrated an overall look. 2. The degree of deterioration of spatial resolution was proportional to the thickness of the slice. 3. Facial bone fractures were the most distinctly demonstrated on inferoanterior views of three-dimensional reconstructive images. 4. Although three-dimensional reconstructive images made diagnosis of fracture lines, it was difficult to identify maxillary fractures. 5. The diagnosis of zygomatic fractures could be made equally well with computed image analysis system and three-dimensional reconstructive program integrated in computed tomography. 6. The diagnosis of mandibular fractures could be made equally well with computed image analysis system and three-dimensional reconstructive program integrated in computed tomography.
In the closed range space, the parallel two CCD cameras are used to acquire a pair of stereo image. The acquired stereo image are computed with Wavelet Transform repeatedly and including the low frequency component, the image size of those are reduced. It is the pyramid structure. The optimum matching point is searched to the pixel. Then appling the optimum matching point to DLT, it extract the three - dimensional surface coordinate from a stereo image. The direct linear transformation(DLT) method is used to calibrate the stereo camera compute the coordinate on a three dimensional space. To find the parameters for the DLT method, 30 control points which marked on the cylinder type object are used. To improve the matching algorithm, the paper select the pyramid structure for Wavelet Transform. The acquired disparity information is used to represent the really three-dimensional surface coordinate.
In the present industry, three-dimensional colored shape has required for realistic prototype in rapid manufacturing. Z-corporation developed 3D printer which can color three-dimensional prototype but this process can't be adopted to other rapid prototype products and spend much time and cost coloring 3D shape. In this study a new coloring process on three-dimensional surface is proposed for realistic prototype. Three-dimensional surface coloring apparatus is composed of HP ink jet head and X-Y plotter. Distance and angle between ink jet nozzle and 3D surface are set as process parameter. Based on the experiment of process parameters, it is shown that distance and angle affected on printed image on 3D surface. Circle and line shape are chosen as standard image shape because the shape has widely used as standard in 2D printing. Consequently, the distorted image on 3D surface is corrected by transformed input image data.

We propose the use of synchronously moving micro-optics (lenslet arrays) for image pickup and display in three-dimensional integral imaging to overcome the upper resolution limit imposed by the Nyquist sampling theorem. With the proposed technique, we present an all-optical three-dimensional integral imaging projector. An optically addressed spatial light modulator is used, which potentially provides better image resolution than the conventional CCD and liquid crystal display pair. We present experimental results using a liquid crystal light valve.
Multi-view function is important to three-dimensional displays without dedicated glasses. It is the reason that the observers earnestly desire to change their positions freely. Multi-viewing is also principal to the reality of three-dimensional (3D) image displayed on the screen. The display of projection type has the advantage that the number of viewing points can be easily increased according to the number of projectors. The authors research on multi-view projection display with hologram screen. Powerful directionality of the diffracted beam from hologram screen is required unlike two-dimensional (2D) display. We developed a new method that all diffracted beams satisfied the same Bragg condition and became sufficiently bright to observe the 3D image under usual indoor light. The principle is based on the essential Bragg diffraction in the three-dimensional space. Owing to such three-dimensional Bragg diffraction we achieved an excellent hologram screen that could be multiple reconstructed in spite of single recording. This hologram screen is able to answer arbitrary numbers of viewing points within wide viewing zone. The distortion of 3D image becomes also sufficiently small with the method of dividing the cross angle between illumination and diffraction beam.
Quality control (QC) of Computed Tomography (CT) devices is based on image quality measurement on AAPM CT phantom which is a standard phantom. Although it is possible to control the accuracy of the CT apparatus, it is expensive and has a disadvantage of low penetration rate. Therefore, in this study, we make image quality measurement phantom at low cost using FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) type three-dimensional printer and try to analyze the usefulness, compare it with existing standard phantom. To print a phantom, We used three-dimensional printer of the FFF system and PLA (Poly Lactic Acid, density: $1.24g/cm^3$) filament, and the CT device of 64 MDCT (Aquilion CX, Toshiba, Japan). In addition, we printed a phantom using three-dimensional printer after design using various tool based on existing standard phantom. For image quality evaluation, AAPM CT phantom and self-generated phantom were measured 10 times for each block. The measured data were analyzed for significance using the Mannwhiteney U-test of SPSS (Version 22.0, SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA). As a result of the analysis, phantom fabricated with three-dimensional printer and standard phantom showed no significant difference (p>0.05). Furthermore, we confirmed that image quality measurement performance of a phantom using three-dimensional printer is similar to the existing standard phantom. In conclusion, we confirmed the possibility of low cost phantom fabrication using three dimensional printer.
In this research, and investigation of the eye movement was performend when the objects perceived by the eye are three-dimensional objects, two dimensional images, and trhee dimensional images. This investigation was done by observing the EQG(Electro- oculogram) waves which were obtained from experiments. The observed waves were categorized into several groups. Differences among the waves were analyzed for each object and image perceived by the eye. In order to obtain waves for analysis, two kinds of experiments were performen. In each experiment, the saccadic eye movement and the smooth pursuit eye movement were considered as an independent variables. Waves obtained from the experiments were categorized into 4 types (Wave-1, Wave-2, Wave-3, Wave-4) depending on their characteristics. Unlike the other images, three dimensional image was revealed as a key factor for the active movement of the eye. Futhermore, a unique eye movement was observed in the case of three dimensional images where the focus of the eye was achieved through three steps.
