We developed a method of growing thin Si film at $600^{\circ}C$ by hot wire CVD using a very thin large-grained poly-Si seed layer for thin-film Si solar cells. The seed layer was prepared by crystallizing an amorphous Si film by vapor-induced crystallization using $AlCl_3$ vapor. The average grain size of the p-type epitaxial Si layer was about $20{\mu}m$ and crystallographic defects in the epitaxial layer were mainly low-angle grain boundaries and coincident-site lattice boundaries, which are special boundaries with less electrical activity. Moreover, with a decreasing in-situ boron doping time, the mis-orientation angle between grain boundaries and in-grain defects in epitaxial Si decreased. Due to fewer defects, the epitaxial Si film was high quality evidenced from Raman and TEM analysis. The highest mobility of $360cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ was achieved by decreasing the in-situ boron doping time. The performance of our preliminary thin-film solar cells with a single-side HIT structure and $CoSi_2$ back contact was poor. However, the result showed that the epitaxial Si film has considerable potential for improved performance with a reduced boron doping concentration.

We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 10[mN/m]. In processing of a device manufacture, we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Al and Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Au; the number of accumulated layers is 1, 3, 5 and 7. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V]. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. LB film accumulated by monolayer on an ITO. Commonly used oil-based polymer resin has environmental and safety issues. Many researches for replacing the harmful solvent-borne resins to water-borne resins have been investigated to purify harmful environmental resources and follow the export and import of hazardous materials regulations. In this research, ultrasonic spray coatings of aqueous polymer resin were studied to fabricate thin insulating layer (${\sim}{\mu}m$) on the rectangular copper wire. It needs to have appropriate wettability between resin and substrate during the ultrasonic spray coating process to coat aqueous polymer uniformly. Furthermore, stabilities of coating solution and fabricating process are required to form thin insulating layer on the substrate. In here, physical characteristics such as viscosity of 6 types of commercial polymer dispersions and emersions were analyzed to confirm compatibility for ultrasonic spray coating process. These resins were dissolved in isopropyl alcohol, used for true solvent, and were diluted with ethanol, utilized for diluent. Also, solubilities, dispersion characteristics, and viscosities of these diluted polymer resin solutions were confirmed. Dispersion characteristic and viscosity of coating solution affects jetting of ultrasonic spray coating and these jetting characteristics influence morphologies of insulating layer. In conclusion, we have known that aqueous polymer solution should have outstanding dispersion characteristic and certain range of viscosity to fabricate thin polymer insulating layer uniformly with ultrasonic spray coating.

In order to apply cylindrical periodic array to phased array antenna or frequency selective surface, efficient electromagnetic analysis is required. Finite periodic array is applied in real situation. But, generally, assumed that periodic structure is arranged infinitely, approximate electromagnetic characteristics can be obtained efficiently. But, difference of characteristics between real structure and approximate structure occurs because finite periodic array is approximated to infinite periodic array. Therefore, comparison and analysis of cylindrical infinite array and finite array are required. In this paper, cylindrical infinite periodic array are analyzed using cylindrical Floquet harmonics. Also, cylindrical finite periodic array is analyzed using method of moments (MoM) with thin wire approximation because periodic structures which are composed of strip with narrow width are analyzed. Transmission characteristics and surface currents of infinite and finite periodic structures are compared.

People's environmental concerns for fine particles in Korea lead to the strong necessity of improving the performance of environmental control systems. Wet electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) are considered as one of the alternatives to overcome the limit of previous dry ESPs, the re-entrainment of collected particles during rapping and back corona problem for high electrical resistivity dusts etc. In this study, a wire-cylindrical ESP with a thin water film has been developed. Particle collection characteristics were compared in the ESP with operations of water film on and off. Particle collection efficiencies at various applied voltages as well as voltage-current curves were almost the same in the ESP with and without a water film. Particle collection performance for PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 in the wet ESP with a water film was constantly maintained with operation time even in the high dust loading environment. This results indicate that a uniform water film in our wet ESP was successfully formed with a very thin layer without any dry spot and therefore could continuously clean the collected particles on the inner wall of the ESP without any performance degradation.
The physical and electrical characteristics of MgO and Pt thin-films on it, deposited by reactive sputtering and rf magnetron sputtering, respectively, were analyzed with annealing temperature and time by four-point probe, SEM and XRD. Under annealing conditions of $1000^{\circ}C$ and 2 hr, MgO thin-film had the properties of improving Pt adhesion to $SiO_2$ and insulation without chemical reaction to Pt thin-film, and the sheet resistivity and the resistivity of Pt thin-film deposited on it were $0.1288\;{\Omega}/{\square}$ and $12.88\;{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, respectively. We made Pt resistance pattern on $SiO_2$/Si substrate by lift-off method and fabricated thin-film type Pt-RTD(resistance thermometer device) for micro thermal sensors by Pt-wire, Pt-paste and SOG(spin-on-glass). In the temperature range of $25{\sim}400^{\circ}C$, the TCR value of fabricated Pt-RTD with thickness of $1.0{\mu}m$ was $3927\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ close to the Pt bulk value. Resistance values were varied linearly within the range of measurement temperature.
Abstract The hot wire anemometer-type flow sensor, which consisted of Ni thin film resistors evaporated on Si substrates, was fabricated and characterized. It was known that the temperature coefficients of Ni resistors were decreased as the film thickness was thinned and the operating characteristics of the fabricated flow sensor were determined as a sensitivity of 111.3${\mu}$W/(${\ell}$ pm$)^{1/2}$ and a dynamic response time of several 10 seconds.
Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) has been extensively applied for various laboratory and field studies. Numerous different TDR probes are currently available for measuring soil moisture content and detecting interfaces (i.e., due to landslides or structural failure). This paper describes the development of an innovative spiral-shaped TDR probe that features much higher sensitivity and resolution in detecting interfaces than existing ones. Finite element method (FEM) simulations were conducted to assist the optimization of sensor design. The influence of factors such as wire interval spacing and wire diameter on the sensitivity of the spiral TDR probe were analyzed. A spiral TDR probe was fabricated based on the results of computer-assisted design. A laboratory experimental program was implemented to evaluate its performance. The results show that the spiral TDR sensor featured excellent performance in accurately detecting thin water level variations with high resolution, to the thickness as small as 0.06 cm. Compared with conventional straight TDR probe, the spiral TDR probe has 8 times the resolution in detecting the water level changes. It also achieved 3 times the sensitivity of straight TDR probe.
A new sensor system is proposed for measuring damage indexes. The damage index is a physical value that is well correlated to a critical damage in a device or a structure. The mechanism proposed here utilizes elastic buckling of a thin wire and does not require any external power supply for memorizing the index. The mechanisms to detect peak strain, peak displacement, peak acceleration and cumulative deformation as examples of damage indexes are presented. Furthermore, passive and active wireless data retrieval mechanisms using electromagnetic induction are proposed. The passive wireless system is achieved by forming a closed LC circuit to oscillate at its natural frequency. The active wireless sensor can transmit the data much further than the passive system at the sacrifice of slightly complicated electric circuit for the sensor. For wireless data retrieval, no wire is needed for the sensor to supply electrical power. For the active system, electrical power is supplied to the sensor by radio waves emitted from the retrieval system. Thus, external power supply is only needed for the retrieval system when the retrieval becomes necessary. Theoretical and experimental studies to show excellent performance of the proposed sensor are presented. Finally, a prototype damage index sensor installed into a 7 storey base-isolated building is explained.
