ITO (Indium-tin oxide) thin films have been prepared by a sol-gel spinning coating method and fired and annealed in the temperature range of $450-600^{\circ}C$. The XRD patterns of the films indicated the main peak of (222) plane and showed higher crystallinity with increasing an annealing temperature. The surface of the ITO thin films were treated with 0.1 N HCl 20% solution at room temperature. The effects of surface treatment on electrical properties and surface morphologies of the ITO films were investigated with the results of sheet resistance and FE-SEM, AFM images. The samples, subsequently treated with acidic solution for 40 sec showed the sheet resistance of $0.982\;k{\Omega}/square$. The surface treatment using acidic solution diminished the RMS (root mean square) value and the residual carbon content of the ITO films. It seemed that the acid-cleaning of the ITO thin films lead to the decrease of surface roughness and sheet resistance.

Amorphous $Ga_2O_3$ films have been grown on Si(100) substrates by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) using gallium isopropoxide, $Ga(O^iPr)_3$, as single precursor. Deposition was carried out in the substrate temperature range 400-800 $^{\circ}C$. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis revealed deposition of stoichiometric $Ga_2O_3$ thin films at 500-600 $^{\circ}C$. XPS depth profiling by $Ar^+$ ion sputtering indicated that carbon contamination exists mostly in the surface region with less than 3.5% content in the film. Microscopic images of the films by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) showed formation of grains of approximately 20-40 nm in size on the film surfaces. The root-mean-square surface roughness from an AFM image was ${\sim}10{\AA}$. The interfacial layer of the $Ga_2O_3$/Si was measured to be ${\sim}35{\AA}$ thick by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM). From the analysis of gaseous products of the CVD reaction by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), an effort was made to explain the CVD mechanism.
This experimental work was carried out to know the best method in producing the root stock effectively. The major experimental work was carried out by using Kairyo-Nezumigaeshi, and the comparative works were carried out by using Ichi-Hei, Kairyo-Nezumigaeshi, Ro-Soh, Yongchon-Chuwoo and Suwon No. 4. Results obtained from the test are as follows. 1. The larger size of the branch burried, the better live ratio and the quality of the sapling was found, and there was no significant difference between the top part and bottom part of the branch from the point of view of the ratio, but it was found that the top part showed better live ratio and quality. Mean time there was no difference in live ratio between the two sprouts root-stock type and the three sprouts root-stock type. 2. When the live ratio and sapling quality was compared from the aspect of the new root development, the heavy and medium developed root type showed better result than the poor developed one. 3. For the ambushing depth test of the root-stock, the root-stock which was painted with paraffin on the top and exposed in the air was found to have best live ratio. Mean time, even though paraffin was not painted all the top of the root-stock, the one which was exposed the top of it or the one ambushed with thin soil layer, showed better live ratio than the one deep ambushed. 4. There was difference for the live ratio between the perpendicularly ambushed root-stock and the lied ambushed mot-stock, but the former method showed better sapling quality. 5. The soil nature did not show any difference for the live ratio between the sand loam and clay loam, but the former one showed better sapling quality. 6. There was no difference live ratio between the mulberry varieties, but Yongchon-Chuwoo showed best sapling quality. 7. The grafted sapling production cost was 2.30 won and cattage sapling cost was 1.61 won.

Capacitors among the embedded passive components are most widely studied because they are the major components in terms of size and number and hard to embed compared with resistors and inductors due to the more complicated structure. To fabricate a capacitor-embedded PCB for in-line process, it is essential to adopt a low temperature process (<$200^{\circ}C$). However, high dielectric materials such as ferroelectrics show a low permittivity and a high dielectric loss when they are processed at low temperatures. To solve these contradicting problems, we studied BMN materials as a candidate for dielectric capacitors. processed at PCB-compatible temperatures. The morphologies of BMN thin films were investigated by AFM and SEM equipment. The electric properties (C-F, I-V) of Pt/BMN/Cu/polymer were evaluated using an impedance analysis (HP 4194A) and semiconductor parameter analyzer (HP4156A). $Bi_2Mg_{2/3}Nb_{4/3}O_7$(BMN) thin films deposited on copper clad laminate substrates by sputtering system as a function of Ar/$O_2$ flow rate at room temperature showed smooth surface morphologies having root mean square roughness of approximately 5.0 nm. 200-nm-thick films deposited at RT exhibit a dielectric constant of 40, a capacitance density of approximately $150\;nF/cm^2$, and breakdown voltage above 6 V. The crystallinity of the BMN thin films was studied by TEM and XRD. BMN thin film capacitors are expected to be promising candidates as embedded capacitors for printed circuit board (PCB).
The investigation of UV absorbing compounds in saponin fraction of Pnm.1. Kiairnk root was carried out by thin layer chromatography, semipreparative HVLC. l3C, 1H-NMR, mass spectrometry and chemical characteristics in searching plant for growth regulatony substances such as phenolic glycoside. Drying of fresh ginseng at 15 $^{\circ}C$ decreased not only number but also size of UV absorbing sports on TLC. One of the relatively large spots in fresh ginseng was isolated and identified as adenosine, which is subjected for growth stimulatory activity Detection of phenolic glycosides failed in dried root bolt was highly probable in fresh ginseng even with the insufficient amount of sample.
Objectives : This research was observed by examining the external and internal parts and the quantity of the surface components of the wild type and cultivar of Angelica dahurica in korea. Methods : The slice of the tested material mede by paraffin section technique was colored with Safranine Malachite Green contrast methods, and then observed and photographed by the microscope and examined the quantity of the surface components. Results : In the shape of the roots, the wild type had a very thin main root and 2 long roots, while the cultivar had a long root branched out from the short and thick main root making a square pyramid shape. Isoimperatorin was detected at Rt $17{\sim}18$ minutes. The wild type contained 0.56% while the cultivar contained it of 0.355%, thus the component of the wild type was about 1.5 times of that of the cultivar. Conclusions : It was thought that there might be also some differences in their genetic characteristics, etc.
Sliced and whole root of rehmannia were dehydrated in a laboratory dryer at 40, 60, 80, and $100^{\circ}C$ to evaluate the kinetic parameters for dehydration of rehmannia. The drying curves of both samples were characterized by a falling-rate drying period only. Sliced rehmannia dried 1.1 to 3.1 times faster than whole root of rehmannia depending on drying temperature. Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of rehmannia samples at the drying temperature tested were 0.069-0.078 g water/g dry solid, which was coincided with the monolayer moisture content (0.06 and 0.07 g water/g dry solid) evaluated from desorption isotherms using GAB (Guggenheim-Anderson-de Boer) model. A logarithmic model for thin layer drying was applied to evaluate the drying time to reach EMC ($t_{EMC}$) and drying constant (k). The effect of temperature on $1/t_{EMC}$ and k was described by the Arrhenius model with activation energy values of 32.56 and 47.14 kJ/mol determined using the former parameter, and 34.27 and 38.26 kJ/mol determined using the latter parameter for sliced and whole root of rehmannia, respectively.
Pygmaeopremna herbacea (Roxb.) Mold. (Verbenaceae) is a small herb or sometimes an undershrub arising from a perennial rootstock. The dry roots are dark muddy brown in colour having root nodules. Its extensively developed roots are widely used in tribal medicine. They are used as an aphrodisiac and for the treatment of gout, rheumatism and ulcers. This study deals with the detailed pharmacognostical evaluation of the dried roots and root nodules of P. herbacea which includes macro and microscopic studies, determination of physicochemical parameters and chemoprofiling of the extract using HPTLC fingerprint profiles. It was observed that the roots consist of a well developed cortical region consisting of tangentially elongated thin walled parenchymatous cells and contain polygonal stone cells as well as compound starch grains. Also the pith was parenchymatous. The HPTLC fingerprint profile of the methanolic extract showed the presence of seven major bands. Such an analysis may thus be utilized in identifying P. herbacea and in differenciating it from other species which are similar to it or are used as its adultrants/substitutes under the same vernacular name of Bharangi.

The medicinal plant, Kanzo (Glycyrrhiza uralensis), mainly grows on arid lands. The root of Kanzo has been compounded about 70% of herbal medicines in Japan because it has an important medicinal element. In addition, in recent years, the expansion of desertification becomes a serious problem. The cause is chiefly man activity such as over gathering plants1). The aim of this study is to prevent desertification by cultivating Kanzo with high quality. The first step is to grow Kanzo for greening. The second step is to stably produce the root with high medicinal quality. This paper presents growth properties of cultivating Kanzo by bottom watering method, which is under constant groundwater level. The main results of this paper are as follows: (1) The lower water content of cultivating soil is, the longer the root length is, (2) Growth of Kanzo is influenced by soil types, (3) Thick primary roots grow directly and vertically in low water content. On the other hand, thin secondary roots grow curvedly and horizontally in high water content and (4) Measuring evapo-transpiration velocity is the effective method to evaluate roots' growth tendency in the field.
The precise homeostatic regulation of local auxin accumulation in xylem precursors of cambium stem cell tissues is one of the most important mechanisms for plant vascular patterning and radial secondary growth. Walls are thin (WAT1), a novel intracellular auxin transporter, contributes directly to the auxin accumulation maxima in xylem precursors. According to recent research, the auxin signaling activated pathway-related gene network was significantly enriched during the secondary growth of Panax ginseng storage roots. These imply that during P. ginseng root secondary growth, specific signaling mechanisms for local auxin maxima in the vascular cambial cells are probably triggered. This study identified four WAT1-like genes, PgWAT1-1/-2 and PgWAT2-1/-2, in the P. ginseng genome. Their expression levels were greatly increased in nitratetreated storage roots stimulated for secondary root growth. PgWAT1-1 and PgWAT2-1 were similar to WAT1 from Arabidopsis and tomato plants in terms of their subcellular localization at a tonoplast and predicted transmembrane topology. We discovered that overexpression of PgWAT1-1 and PgWAT2-1 was sufficient to compensate for the secondary growth defects observed in slwat1-copi loss of function tomato mutants. This critical information from the PgWAT1-1 and PgWAT2-1 genes can potentially be used in future P. ginseng genetic engineering and breeding for increased crop yield.
