폴리이미드 유기초박막의 전기적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Properties of Organic Ultra Thin Films with Polyimide)

  • The polyimide(PI) Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) ultra thin films were prepared by imidizing the PAAS LB films of PMDA and benzidine system with a thermal treatment at $250^{\circ}C$ for 30min, where the PAAS LB films were formed on substrates by using LB technique. The thicknesses of one layer of PAAS and PI LB film that deposited at the surface pressure of 27mN/m were 20.9 and 4A, respectively. At low electric field, ohmic conduction($I^{\propto}$ V) was observed and the calculated electrical conductivity was about $4.23{\times}10^{-15}{\sim}9.81{\times}10^{-15}S/cm$. The dielectric constant of LB film was about 7.0.

증착중합법에 의한 폴리이미드 박막의 작성에 관한 연구 (A study on the fabrication of PI thin films by VDP method)

  • Polyimide thin films were fabricated an using vapor deposition polymerization apportus, and their FT-IR and TGA characteristics were investigated. The peaks of $720cm^{-1}$ and $1380cm^{-1}$ show C=O stretch mode and C-N stretch mode, and that of the cured polyimide at $350^{\circ}C$ were sturated. $T_d$(Depolymerization temperature) was showed at $405^{\circ}C$ from research of thermal resistivity characteristics by TGA It was possible to fabrication of polyimide thin film by VDPM.

  • Polyimide(PI) films have been considered as the interlayer dielectric materials due to low dielectric constant, low water absorption, high gap-fill and planarization capability. The PI film was etched with using inductively coupled plasma (ICP). The etching characteristics such as etch rate and selectivity were evaluated to gas mixing ratio. High etch rate was 8300$\AA$/min and vertical profile was approximately acquired 90$^{\circ}$ at CF$_4$/(CF$_4$+O$_2$) of 0.2. The selectivies of polyimide to PR and SiO$_2$ were 1.2, 5.9, respectively. The etching profiles of PI films with an aluminum pattern were measured by a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The chemical states on the PI film surface were investigated by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Radical densities of oxygen and fluorine in different gas mixing ratio of 07CF4 were investigated by optical emission spectrometer (OES).

  • The material that is both conductive in electricity and transparent to the visible-ray is called transparent conducting thin film. It has many field of application such as solar cell, liquid crystal display, transparent electrical heater, selective optical filter, and a optical electric device. In this study, indium tin oxide (ITO ; Sn-doped $In_2O_3$) thin films were deposited on $SiO_2$/soda-lime glass plates by a dc magnetron sputtering technique. The crystallinity and electrical properties of the films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) scanning and 4-point probe. The optical transmittance of ITO films in the range of 300-1000nm were measured with a spectrophotometer. As a result, we obtained polycrystalline structured ITO films with (222), (400), and (440) peak. Transmittance of all the films were higher than 90% in the visible range.

Electrical Effects in Organic Thin-Film Transistors Using Polymerized Gate Insulators by Vapor Deposition Polymerization (VDP)

  • In this paper, it was demonstrated that the organic thin film transistors with the organic gate insulators were fabricated by vapor deposition polymerization (VDP) processing. The configuration of OTFTs was a staggered-inverted top-contact structure and gate dielectric layer was deposited with 0.45 ${\mu}m$ thickness. In order to form polyimide as a gate insulator, VDP process was also introduced instead of spin-coating process. Polyimide film was respectively co-deposited with different materials. One was from a 4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) and 4, 4'-oxydianiline (ODA) and the other was from 2,2-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA) and ODA. And it was also cured at 150 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour followed by 200 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Electrical characteristics of the organic thin-film transistors were detailed comparisons between the ODPA-ODA and the 6FDA-ODA which were used as gate insulator.

  • A surface-assisted photo-control of the liquid crystal (LC) alignment has been achieved by modifying the topmost surface of the polyimide film with photo-reactive molecules. Recently, photo-alignment technique using a thin film of poly(vinyl cinnamates) have been reported. However their commercial potentiality is limited by their low thermal stability. To enhance thermal stability, we synthesized the chalcone derivatives as the photo-reactive molecules and introduced the materials on the surface-modified polyimide film.. We identified that the photo-chemical reaction of the chalcone derivatives occur in few minutes with irradiation of UV light. The photo-alignment characteristics of the modified polyimide films treated by polarized UV light and their LC cells are investigated as a function of exposure dose.

  • We developed a non self-aligned poly-silicon TFTs fabrication process at two different temperatures on spin-coated polyimide layer above Si-wafer. After TFTs fabrication, the polyimide layer was mechanically released from the Si-wafer and the devices characteristics were compared. In addition self-heating and hot-carrier induced instabilities were analysed.

  • Electro-optical (EO) performances of the ion beam (IB) aligned twisted-nematic (TN)-liquid crystal display (LCD) with ion beam exposure on the new diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin film surface were investigated. A good voltage-transmittance (V-T) curve of the ion beam aligned TN-LCD with oblique ion beam exposure on the DLC thin film surface for 1 min was observed. Also, the fast response time of the ion beam aligned TN-LCD with oblique ion beam exposure on the DLC thin film surface for 1 min can be achieved. Finally, the residual DC voltage of the ion beam aligned TN-LCD on the DLC thin film surface is almost the same as that of the rubbing aligned TN-LCD on a polyimide (Pl) surface.

  • We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and detect the induced displacement current. then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 15[mN/m]. In processing of a device manufacture. We can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/organic thin films(polyimide)/Au, the number of accumulated layers are 31,35, and 41. I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0[V] to +5[V]. The maximum value of measured current is increased as the number of accumulated layers are decreased. The resistance for the number of accumulated layers, the energy density for an input voltage show desired results, and the insulation of a thin film is better as the interval between electrodes is larger.

  • Polyimide (PI) films have been studied widely as the interlayer dielectric materials due to a low dielectric constant, low water absorption, high gap-fill and planarization capability. The polyimide film was etched using inductively coupled plasma system. The etcying characteristics such as etch rate and selectivity were evaluated at different $CF_4/(CF_4+O_2)$chemistry. The maximum etch rate was 8300 ${\AA}/min$ and the selectivity of polyimide to SiO$_2$was 5.9 at $CF_4/(CF_4+O_2)$ of 0.2. Etch profile of polyimide film with an aluminum pattern was measured by a scanning electron microscopy. The vertical profile was approximately $90^{\circ}$ at $CF_4/(CF_4+O_2)$ of 0.2. As 20% $CF_4$ were added into $O_2$ plasma from the results of the optical emission spectroscopy, the radical densities of fluorine and oxygen increased with increasing $CF_4$ concentration in $CF_4/O_2$ from 0 to 20%, resulting in the increased etch rate. The surface reaction of etched PI films was investigated using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
