In this study, the fundamental behavior of microdomains in block copolymer/nanoparticle composite thin films was examined. In this experiment, polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinylpyridine) block copolymer and CdSe nanoparticles having a noncentrosymmetric property were employed. Composite hybrid thin films were produced by a spin coating method, and changes in the internal structure of composite thin films were monitored mainly by transmission electron microscopy. In summary, nanoparticles resided inside the thin film relatively intact, however, the block copolymer microdomains rotated parallel to the electric field direction. This study will be very helpful for future research activities regarding behaviors of heterogeneous composite materials under external fields.

In various industries, many researches studies have been done in using nano thin film fabrication technology. In the field of printed electronics, various electronic devices can be fabricated using a direct printing process of on multiple functional materials. It has the advantages of low prices, environment-friendly environmentally friendly, flexibleility, large scale, mass production produced, simple process and so on. In this study, a viable thin film fabrication technology has beenwas introduced using the surface acoustic wave mechanism for thin film deposition. Fabrication of thin films using organic, inorganic and composite of organic/inorganic materials have been were analyzed through the experimental research. In this experiment, organic material MEH:PPV, inorganic material ZnO and composite material MEH:PPV/ZnO have been depo sited as thin films.
We investigated the surface modification method for the preparation of organic-inorganic hybrid composite thin film. Gelatin obtained from the decomposition of collagen was allowed to adsorb in a polystyrene tissue culture dish for 2 h to from layers of gelatin. Supersaturated ionic solution of calcium and phosphorus was injected on the gelatin adsorbed layer to form calcium phosphate thin film. During the initial period of incubation, nucleates were formed. With increase of the incubation time, CaP (calcium phosphate) thin film grew on the surface of the culture dish. The gelatin/CaP thin film displayed the highly porous three-dimensional surface structure. Attenuated, total reflectance Fourier transform, infra-red spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) was used to analyze the chemical properties of CaP film. The analysis demonstrated that the CaP film formed at initial period of treatment appeared to be amorphous. With increase of incubation time, the crystallinity of the film was slightly increased, but the presence of the peaks for the low crystalline CaP confirmed that the CaP thin film prepared in this study was poorly crystallized.

The piezoelectric thin film(PVDF: polyvinylidene fluoride) sensors having good dynamic sensing charachteristics can be used to monitor low vwlocit impact on composite structures. The impact response function for composite sandwich beam was derved. The impact tests at low energy without inducing damage were performed on the instrumented drop weight impact tester. The measured signals of PVDF sensors attached on the surface of the beam agreed well with the simulated signals. And the inverse technique was applied to reconstruct the impact forces from the PVDF sensor signals. Most of reconstructed impact forces showed good agreement with the measured forces. The comparison results showed that the piezoelectric thin film sensor can be used to monitor the low velocity impact on composite sandwich structures.

A thin-film transmission line (TFTL) employing a microstrip line/coplanar waveguide (ML/CPW) was fabricated on a silicon substrate for application to a miniaturized on-chip RF component, and the RF characteristics of the device with the proposed structure were investigated. The TFTL employing a ML/CPW composite structure exhibited a shorter wavelength than that of a conventional coplanar waveguide and that of a thin-film microstrip line. When the TFTL with the proposed structure was fabricated to have a length of ${\lambda}/8$, it showed a loss of less than 1.12 dB at up to 30 GHz. The improvement in the periodic capacitance of the TFTL caused for the propagation constant, ${\beta}$, and the effective permittivity, ${\varepsilon}_{eff}$, to have values higher than those of a device with only a conventional coplanar waveguide and a thin film microstrip line. The TFTL with the proposed structure showed a ${\beta}$ of 0.53~2.96 rad/mm and an ${\varepsilon}_{eff}$ of 22.3~25.3 when operating from 5 to 30 GHz. A highly miniaturized impedance transformer was fabricated on a silicon substrate using the proposed TFTL for application to a low-impedance transformation for broadband. The size of the impedance transformer was 0.01 mm2, which is only 1.04% of the size of a transformer fabricated using a conventional coplanar waveguide on a silicon substrate. The impedance transformer showed excellent RF performance for broadband.

The devices of BST thin films to composite (Ba$\_$0.7/ Sr$\_$0.3/)TiO$_3$using sol-gel method were fabricated by changing of the depositing layer number on Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate. The thin film capacitor to be ferroelectric devices was investigated by structural and electrical properties. The thickness of BST thin films at each coating numbers 3, 4 and 5 times was 2500[${\AA}$], 3500[${\AA}$], 3800[${\AA}$]. The dielectric factor of thin film when the coating numbers were 3, 4 and 5 times was 190, 400 and 460 on frequency 1[MHz]. The dielectric loss of BST thin film was linearly increased by increasing of the specimen area.

Although the intrinsic characteristics of DNA molecules and carbon nanotubes (CNT) are well known, fabrication methods and physical characteristics of CNT-embedded DNA thin films are rarely investigated. We report the construction and characterization of carboxyl (-COOH) group-modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT-COOH)-embedded DNA and cetyltrimethyl-ammonium chloride-modified DNA (DNA-CTMA) composite thin films. Here, we examine the structural, compositional, chemical, spectroscopic, and electrical characteristics of DNA and DNA-CTMA thin films consisting of various concentrations of MWCNT-COOH. The MWCNT-COOH-embedded DNA and DNA-CTMA composite thin films may offer a platform for developing novel optoelectronics, energy harvesting, and sensing applications in physical, chemical, and biological sciences.

In this paper, we study the RF characteristics of the short wavelength thin-film transmission line employing microstrip line (ML)/coplanar waveguide (CPW) composite structure on silicon substrate for application to RFIC (radio frequency integrated circuit). The thin-film transmission line employing ML/CPW composite structure showed a wavelength shorter than conventional transmission lines. Concretely, at 10 GHz, the wavelength of the transmission line employing ML/CPW composite structure was 6.26 mm, which was 60.5 % of the conventional coplanar waveguide. We also extracted the bandwidth characteristic of the transmission line employing ML/CPW composite structure using equivalent circuit analysis. The S parameter of the equivalent circuit showed a good agreement with measured result. According to the bandwidth extraction result, the cut-off frequency of thin-film transmission line employing ML/CPW composite structure was 377 GHz. Above results indicate that the transmission line employing ML/CPW composite structure can be effectively used for application to broadband and compact RFIC.

Organosilyl-modified and star-shaped poly (${\varepsilon}$-caprolactone) (m-PCL) was prepared, and added to polymethylsilsesquioxane (PMSSQ), to make composites. The end groups of m-PCL are chemically similar to PMSSQ, and m-PCL mixed well with PMSSQ in the composite. Porous PMSSQ film was made by further calcination of the composite film at elevated temperature. m-PCL-templated PMSSQ and the as-prepared porous PMSSQ were structurally, optically, and thermally characterized in thin films. The chemical binding of m-PCL and PMSSQ effectively suppressed the phase separation of PMSSQ and m-PCL during the curing process. After calcination at elevated temperature, there remained many pores in the PMSSQ matrix. The refractive indices of the resulting porous PMSSQ thin films decreased with increase of the film porosities, depending on the initial m-PCL loadings.
Characteristics of composite electrolytes which were prepared by coating a thin film of YSZ (yttria sta-bilized zirconia : (ZrO2)0.92 (Y2O3)0.08) on YDC (yttria doped ceria : Ce0.8Y0.2O1.9) with mixed conductivity have been investigated in order to develop the low-temperature solid oxide fuel cell. The thickness (t) of spin-coated YSZ thin films after the heat-treatment at 600$^{\circ}C$ was increased proportionally to the sol con-centrations (C) while the decrease in its thickness with the spin rate ($\omega$) could be expressed in the e-quation of ln t=9.49-0.53 ln $\omega$(0.99mol//s sol conc.) When the sol concentration and the spin rate being less than 0.99 mol/l and higher than 1000 rpm respectively reliable YSZ/YDC composite electrolytes could be obtained by multi-coating although several micro-cracks were observed in singly coated YSZ film surfaces. The dense YSZ film with a 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness was prepared by coating of 0.99 mol/l YSZ sol five-times at 2000 rpm followed by heat-treatment at 1400$^{\circ}C$ for 2h, The adhesion between YSZ film and YDC substrate was found to be very good. The open circuit voltages of H2/O2 single cell with YSZ/YDC composite electrolytes were 0.79∼0.82 V at 800$^{\circ}C$ and 0.75∼0.77V at 900$^{\circ}C$ The open circuit voltage was inversely proportioned to the thickness ratio of YSZ thin film (1$\mu\textrm{m}$) to YDC substrate(0.28-2.22 mm)
