  • This paper studies the effect of the relaxation time on a two-dimensional thermoelastic medium which has a doubly porous structure in the presence of diffusion and gravity. The normal mode analysis is used to obtain the analytic expressions of the physical quantities, which we take the solution form in the exponential image. We have discussed a homogeneous thermoelastic half-space with double porosity with the effect of diffusion and gravity. The equations of generalized thermoelastic material with double porosity structure with one relaxation time have been developed. Moreover, the expressions of many physical quantities are explained. The general solutions, under specific boundary conditions of the problem, were found in some detail. In addition, numerical results are computed.

  • The current article studied wave propagation in a nonlocal porous thermoelastic half-space with temperature-dependent properties. The problem is solved in the context of the Green-Lindsay theory (G-L) and the Lord- Shulman theory (L-S) based on thermoelasticity with memory-dependent derivatives. The governing equations of the porous thermoelastic solid are solved using normal mode analysis with an eigenvalue approach. In order to illustrate the analytical developments, the numerical solution is carried out, and the effect of local parameter and temperature-dependent properties on the physical fields are presented graphically.

  • The paper deals with the propagation of Rayleigh waves in a nonlocal thermoelastic isotropic layer which is lying over a nonlocal thermoelastic isotropic half-space under the purview of Green-Lindsay model and Eringen's nonlocal elasticity in the presence of voids. The normal mode analysis is employed to the considered equations to obtain vector matrix differential equation which is then solved by eigenvalue approach. The frequency equation of Rayleigh waves is derived and different particular cases are also deduced. The effects of voids and nonlocality on different characteristics of Rayleigh waves are presented graphically.

  • The present paper attempts to investigate the propagation of plane waves in generalized piezo-thermoelastic medium under the effect of rotation. The normal mode analysis is used to obtain the expressions for the displacement components, the temperature, the stress and the strain components. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by different theories (Coupled theory, Lord-Schulman, Green-Lindsay) in the absence and presence of rotation.

  • The dual-phase lag heat transfer model is employed to study the problem of isotropic generalized thermoelastic medium with internal heat source. The normal mode analysis is used to obtain the exact expressions for displacement components, force stress and temperature distribution. The variations of the considered variables through the horizontal distance are illustrated graphically. The results are discussed and depicted graphically.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of an inclined load, location, and time on the behavior of a fiber-reinforced visco-thermoelastic half-space. The displacement, stress, and temperature distributions are derived from the normal mode analysis. The problem is analyzed using a three-phase-lag model. MATLAB programming is employed to ascertain the physical fields with appropriate boundary conditions and to perform numerical computations. The outcomes are then examined with different inclination loads, time, and location settings.

  • This paper presents two sets of full three-dimensional thermoelastic finite element analyses of superimposed thermo-mechanically loaded Spar Wingskin Joints made with laminated Graphite Fiber Reinforced Plastic composites. The study emphasizes the influence of residual thermal stresses and material anisotropy on the inter-laminar delamination behavior of the joint structure. The delamination has been pre-embedded at the most likely location, i.e., in resin layer between the top and next ply of the fiber reinforced plastic laminated wingskin and near the spar overlap end. Multi-Point Constraint finite elements have been made use of at the vicinity of the delamination fronts. This helps in simulating the growth of the embedded delamination at both ends. The inter-laminar thermoelastic peel and shear stresses responsible for causing delamination damage due to a combined thermal and a static loading have been evaluated. Strain energy release rate components corresponding to the Mode I (opening), Mode II (sliding) and Mode III (tearing) of delamination are determined using the principle of Virtual Crack Closure Technique. These are seen to be different and non-self-similar at the two fronts of the embedded delamination. Residual stresses developed due to the thermoelastic anisotropy of the laminae are found to strongly influence the delamination onset and propagation characteristics, which have been reflected by the asymmetries in the nature of energy release rate plots and their significant variation along the delamination front.

  • In this study, an analytical model of micro-beam structure including thermoelastic damping with irregularly distributed masses is investigated. The significance of thermoelastic damping for micro-scale mechanical resonators is evaluated to design -with high quality factor(Q-factor). The beam model of this work is based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. In order to determine the natural frequency of the model, energy method is applied. Also, the thermoelatic damping effects are considered by using heat conduction equations, and the Q-factor can be determined. To derive the equation of motion, non-dimensionalization is employed for systematic analysis. Results of the model are verified, and present mode shapes and Q-factors for the micro-beam with thermoelastic damping including random point masses.

  • In this paper, effects of thermoelastic stress by using lock-in thermography was measured in the cantilever beam. In experiment, a circular holed plate was applied to analyze variation of transient stress under the condition of repeated cyclic loading. And the finite element modal analysis as computational work was performed. According to the surface temperature obtained from infrared thermography, the stress of the nearby hole was predicted based on thermoelastic equation. As results, each stress distributions between 2nd and 3rd vibration mode were qualitatively and quantitatively investigated, respectively. Also, dynamic stress concentration factors according to the change of vibration amplitude were estimated for the resonance frequency.

  • A computer simulation technique for 2-dimensional laser generated ultrasonic waves was developed for visualization and investigation of ultrasonic propagation in solids. The technique is similar to a finite difference method (FDM) and a mass-particle model method, but uses a new nodal calculation method based on fundamental consideration of an elastic wave equation. By this method, the propagation behavior oflaser generated ultrasonic wave in thermoelastic and ablation mode is visualized and shows good agreement with previous experimental result or the numerical analysis result by Green function.
