  • In this study, Eringen nonlocal elasticity theory in conjunction with surface elasticity theory is employed to study nonlinear free vibration behavior of FG nano-plate lying on elastic foundation, on the base of Reddy's plate theory. The material distribution is assumed as a power-law function and effective material properties are modeled using Mori-Tanaka homogenization scheme. Hamilton's principle is implemented to derive the governing equations which solved using DQ method. Finally, the effects of different factors on natural frequencies of the nano-plate under hygrothermal situation and various boundary conditions are studied.

  • The evolution process of an initially homogeneous bone structure under axial and transverse loads is investigated in this paper. The external loads include axial and external lateral pressure, electric, magnetic and thermal loads. The theoretical predictions of evolution processes are made based on the adaptive elasticity formulation and coupled thermo-magneto-electro-elastic theory. The adaptive elastic body, which is a model for living bone diaphysis, is assumed to be homogeneous in its anisotropic properties and its density. The principal result of this paper is determination of the evolution process of the initially homogeneous body to a transversely inhomogeneous body under the influence of the inhomogeneous stress state.

  • Finite element analysis of welding processes, which entail phase evolution, heat transfer and deformations, is considered in this paper. Attention focuses on numerical implementation of the thermo-elastic-plastic constitutive equation proposed by Leblond in consideration of the transformation plasticity. Based upon the multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient, hyperelastic formulation is employed for efficient numerical integration, and the algorithmic consistent moduli for elastic-plastic deformations including transformation plasticity are obtained in the closed form. The convergence behavior of the present implementation is demonstrated via a couple of numerical examples.

  • In the present research, thermo-elastic buckling of small scale functionally graded material (FGM) nano-size plates with clamped edge conditions rested on an elastic substrate exposed to uniformly, linearly and non-linearly temperature distributions has been investigated employing a secant function based refined theory. Material properties of the FGM nano-size plate have exponential gradation across the plate thickness. Using Hamilton's rule and non-local elasticity of Eringen, the non-local governing equations have been stablished in the context of refined four-unknown plate theory and then solved via an analytical method which captures clamped boundary conditions. Buckling results are provided to show the effects of different thermal loadings, non-locality, gradient index, shear deformation, aspect and length-to-thickness ratios on critical buckling temperature of clamped exponential graded nano-size plates.

  • Stress singularities appear at the interface edge in dissimilar materials also under thermal loading. First, these singularities then an interface meets a free side surface with an arbitrary angle are studied for a two-dimensional problem. The singular properties under thermal loading are made clear and the concrete singular field are obtained. Secondly, the dependence of stress field on elastic constants in axisymmetric dissimilar materials are. discussed. That is, it is shown that three elastic constants mutually independent are necessary, in general, to characterize the stress field of axisymmetric dissimilar materials, although Dunders' parameters defined for two-dimensional dissimilar materials have been often applied correspondingly also to axisymmetric problems.

  • In this paper, we fabricated elastomer epoxy specimens by added liquid elastomer to improve the mechanical and electrical properties instead of previous high-voltage epoxy materials. As increased additive contents, glass transient temperature (Tg) was continually decreased in DSC (differential scanning calorimetry). Among specimens, 15 phr sample showed the mechanical and electrical properties similar of high-voltage epoxy in modulus, break-down and arc test. From the optimized condition of elastic epoxy, we confirmed a chance of application for high-voltage materials and power electrical instruments.

  • In this paper, we analyze the thermal deformation of mask frame assembly using finite element method(FEM) and predict the beam landing shift during tube operation. For realistic analysis, the apparent thermal conductivity and the apparent elastic modulus are calculated and the shadow mask is modeled as shell without aperatures. Also, all parts inside the tube are modeled and the each radiative effect is considered. Then the finite element analysis is performed for transient thermo-elastic deformation of the mask frame assembly and the beam landing shift is calculated. Experiments are eprformed for 17" cathode ray tube (CRT) to validate the FEM analysis. The temperatures of all parts inside the tube and beam landing shift on the panel are measured and the results are discussed in comparison with the results of the FEM analysis.ysis.

  • In this study the mechanical behaviors of fiber metal laminates(FMLs) such as ARALL, GLARE and CARE which are recently developed as new structural materials and known to have excellent fatigue resistant characteristics while with relatively low densities compared to the conventional aluminum materials, are considered through the classical lamination theory. The mechanical properties such as elastic moduli, thermal expansion coefficients and hygro-thermally induced residual stresses in the fiber metal laminates are obtained and compared each other. Also, carpet plots of effective elastic moduli, Poisson's ratio and the thermal expansion coefficient for GLARE FML are plotted.

  • In this study, an optimal design study has been made to determine dimensions of die and multi stress rings for extrusion process. For this purpose, a thermo-rigid-viscoplastic finite element program, CAMPform, was used fur forming analysis of extrusion process and a developed elastic finite element program fur elastic stress analysis of the die set including stress rings. And an optimization program, DOT, was employed for the optimization analysis. From this investigation, it was found out that the amount of shrink fitting incurred by the order of assembly of the die set should be taken into account for optimization when the multi stress rings are used in practice. In addition, it is construed that the proposed design method can be beneficial fur improving the tool life of cold extrusion die set.

  • In this study we derive the governing equations of a functionally graded piezoelectric disk, subjected to thermo-electro-mechanical loads. First order shear deformation theory is used for description of displacement field. Principles of minimum potential energy is used to derive governing equations in terms of components of the displacement field and the electric potential. The governing equations are derived for a disk with variable thickness. The numerical results are presented in terms of important parameters of the problem such as profile of variable thickness, in-homogeneous index and other related parameters.
