  • In recent years, the companies of electric power equipment for MV and HV classes trend to develop the eco-friendly insulated(solid, eco-gas, air etc.) switchgear which replaces existent SF6 gas insulated switchgear due to environmental problems such as global warming and so on. This paper makes reference to the newly developed Solid Insulated Switchgear (SIS) which uses the eco-friendly material such as epoxy for insulation. The insulation of the solid insulated switchgear (SIS) is composed of an epoxy, vacuum and air. The solid insulated switchgear (SIS) is a slate of the art product. The advantages of SIS are advanced reliability, economical efficiency, safety, maintenance free, reduction of installation area and the protection of environment. The solid insulated switchgear (SIS) is FE Analyzed such as electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal and fluid in order to find the optimal design. Thens SIS has been verified by international standard test. (IEC 62271 - 100 and so on.) As a result of this, the solid insulated switchgear (SIS) has been estimated as an alternative for eco-friendly MV class switchgear.

  • $TiO_2$ oxide semiconductor is being widely studied in various applications such as photocatalyst and photosensor. Pd/$TiO_2$ gas sensor is mainly used to detect $H_2$, CO and ethanol. This study focus on increasing hydrogen detection ability of Pd/$TiO_2$ in room temperature through Al-doping. Pd/$TiO_2$ was fabricated by the hydrothermal method. Contacting to Aluminum (Al) foil led to Al doping effect in Pd/$TiO_2$ by thermal diffusion and enhanced hydrogen sensing response. $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were sized at ~30 nm of diameter from scanning electron microscope (SEM) and maintained anatase crystal structure after Al doping from X-ray diffraction analysis. Presence of Al in $TiO_2$ was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy at 73 eV. SEM-energy dispersive spectroscopy measurement also confirmed 2 wt% Al in Pd/$TiO_2$ bulk. The gas sensing test was performed with $O_2$, $N_2$ and $H_2$ gas ambient. Pd/Al-doped $TiO_2$ did not response $O_2$ and $N_2$ gas in vacuum except $H_2$. Finally, the normalized resistance ratio ($R_{H2on}/R_{H2off}$) of Pd/Al-doped $TiO_2$ increases about 80% compared to Pd/$TiO_2$.

  • As a drive for an ETC (Electro-thermal Chemical) launcher, a large pulse power system of a 2.4MJ energy storage was designed, constructed and tested. The overall power system consists of eight capacitive 300kJ energy storage banks. In this paper we describe the design features, setup and operation test result of the 300kJ pulsed power module. Each capacitor bank of the 300kJ module consists of six 22kV 50kJ capacitors. A triggered vacuum switch (TVS-43) was adopted as the main pulse switch. Crowbar diode circuits, variable multi-tap inductors and energy dumping systems are connected to each high power capacitor bank via bus-bars and coaxial cables. A parallel crowbar diode stack is fabricated in coaxial structure with two series 13.5kV, 60kA avalanche diodes. The main design parameters of the 300kJ module are a maximum current of 180kA and a pulse width of 0.5 - 3ms. The electrical performances of each component and current output variations into resistive loads have been investigated.

  • The Wide-Angle Polarimetric Camera (PolCam) is installed on the Korea's lunar orbiter, Danuri, which launched on August 5, 2022. The mission objectives of PolCam are to construct photometric maps at a wavelength of 336 nm and polarization maps at 461 and 748 nm, with a phase angle range of 0°-135° and a spatial resolution of less than 100 m. PolCam is an imager using the push-broom method and has two cameras, Cam 1 and Cam 2, with a viewing angle of 45° to the right and left of the spacecraft's direction of orbit. We conducted performance tests in a laboratory setting before installing PolCam's flight model on the spacecraft. We analyzed the CCD's dark current, flat-field frame, spot size, and light flux. The dark current was obtained during thermal / vacuum test with various temperatures and the flat-field frame data was also obtained with an integrating sphere and tungsten light bulb. We describe the calibration method and results in this study.

  • Hydrophilic Surface modification of Polysarene (PS) was performed by Atmospheric Pressure Plasma (APP). Air or 0, gases were used for carrier gases and RF power was changed from 150 to 350 W. We controlled the treatment time as 1 time to 4 time passing through the plasma region. when the carrier gas was air, the water contact angle on the PS surface was decreased from $91^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$. And the surface energy increased from 45.74 dyne/cm to 68.48 dyne/cm. In case of the $O_2$ plasma treatment, at 300 W of RF power and 4 times treatment, the water contact angle on the PS. Surface was decreased from $91^{\circ}$ to $17^{\circ}$ and the surface energy was increased from 45.74 dyne/cm to 69.73 dyne/cm. The surface energy was increased by polar force not by dispersion force. Improvement of surface properties can be explained by the formation of new hydrophilic groups which is identified as C-O, C=O by XPS analysis. The contact angle of APP treated PS surface kept in air was increased with time elapse, but maintained same value when it was kept in water. We treated the PS surface by APP and deposited Cu as $4,000\;{\AA}$ and $8,000\;{\AA}$ by thermal evaporation. The adhesion between sample and Cu thin film improvement of treated PS surface against untreated sample. could be verifiable by Tape test (ASTM D3359)

  • The NISS (Near-infrared Imaging Spectrometer for Star formation history) is the near-infrared instrument optimized to the Next Generation of small satellite series (NEXTSat). The capability of both imaging and low spectral resolution spectroscopy in the near-infrared range is a unique function of the NISS. The major scientific mission is to study the cosmic star formation history in local and distant universe. For those purposes, the main observational targets are nearby galaxies, galaxy clusters, star-forming regions and low background regions. The off-axis optical design is optimized to have a wide field of view ($2deg.{\times}2deg.$) as well as the wide wavelength range from 0.95 to $3.8{\mu}m$. Two linear variable filters are used to realize the imaging spectroscopy with the spectral resolution of ~20. The mechanical structure is considered to endure the launching condition as well as the space environment. The compact dewar is confirmed to operate the infrared detector as well as filters at 80K stage. The electronics is tested to obtain and process the signal from infrared sensor and to communicate with the satellite. After the test and calibration of the engineering qualification model (EQM), the flight model of the NSS is assembled and integrated into the satellite. To verify operations of the satellite in space, the space environment tests such as the vibration, shock and thermal-vacuum test were performed. Here, we report the test results of the flight model of the NISS.

  • This study has been carried out to investigate the effect of reaction milling time on the synthesis of Ti- TiC p powder synthesised from the elemental titanium and activated carbon by reaction milling(RM), and the effect of vacuu urn hot pressing temperature and TiC volume fraction on microstructural and mechanical properties of Ti- TiC comp posite $\infty$ns이idated by vacuum hot pressing(VHP).T The elemental powders of titanium and activated carbon can be converted into Ti- TiC composite powders by react tion milling for about 300hours, and were the average grain size of the as- milled powders has been measured to be a about $5\mu\textrm{m}$. The relative density of Ti- TiC VHPed above $1000^{\circ}C$ during Ihr is about 98% and the mechanical properties o of In- situ Ti- TiC composites are improved by TiC particle dispersed uniformly on titanium matrix. In order to investig gate thermal stability of Ti- TiC composite, after annealing at $600^{\circ}C$ for 80hrs micro- Vickers hardness have been perf formed, and the values have been shown little changed as compared with those before annealing. The compact has b been tested on high temperature compressive test at $700^{\circ}C$ and has showed a high temperature compressive strength of 330MPa in a Ti- 20vol% TiC.

  • Polymer substrates were fabricated by using poly (phenylene ether) as a base resin, N,N'-m-phenylenedimaleimide (PDMI) as a crosslinking agent and decabromodiphenylethane as a flame retardant. The effects of crosslinking agent and flame retardant on physical properties such as dielectric property of the substrate were investigated. Thermal curing feature of PDMI with or without an initiator was analyzed by DSC, and then, PPE-PDMI test compositions were designed based on this result. Composite sheets were cast by film coater, laminated under vacuum and pressure, and then, the changes of dielectric constant, dielectric loss, peel strength, solder heat resistance and inflammability according to increasing amount of PDMI and flame retardant were evaluated, Dielectric constant and dielectric loss showed increasing trend with increasing amount of PDMI and flame retardant, but solder heat resistance and inflammability were improved. Peel strength was obtained higher than 1 kN/m when PDMI above 10 wt% was added, but slightly decreased as the amount of flame retardant increased. From the measured gel contents, the reaction mechanism of PPE-PDMI system was deduced to the formation of network structure by crosslinking PDMI with PPE rather than the formation of semi-IPN structure. In conclusion, the polymer composite substrate materials with dielectric constant of 2.52$\sim$2.65 and dielectric loss below 0.002 at 1 GHz were obtained and they will be proper for high frequency applications.

  • An experiment was performed for zone refined Re-filament and normal (nonzone refined) Re-filament to reduce the background effect on the measurement of low level uranium samples. From both filaments, the signals which seemed to come from a cluster of light alkali elements, $(^{39}K_6)^+$, $(^{39}K_5+^{41}K)^+$ and $PbO_2$ were identified as the isobaric effect of the uranium isotopes. The isobaric effect signal was completely disappeared by heating the filament about $2000^{\circ}C$ at < $10^{-7}$ torr of vacuum for more than 1.5 hour in zone refined Refilaments, while that from the normal Re-filaments was not disappeared completely and was still remained as 3 pg. of uranium as the impurities after the degassing treatment was performed for more than 5 hours at the same condition of zone refined filaments. A threshold condition eliminating impurities were proved to be at 5 A and 30 minutes of degassing time. The uranium content as an impurity in rhenium filament was checked with a filament degassing treatment using the U-233 spike by isotope dilution mass spectrometry. A 0.31 ng of U was detected in rhenium filament without degassing, while only 3 pg of U was detected with baking treatment at a current of 5.5 A for 1 hr. Using normal Re-filaments for the ultra trace of uranium sample analysis had something problem because uranium remains to be 3 pg on the filament even though degassed for long hours. If the 1 ng uranium were measured, 0.3% error occurred basically. It was also conformed that ionization filament current was recommended not to be increased over 5.5 A to reduce the background. Finally, the contents of uranium isotopes in uranium standard materials (KRISS standard material and NIST standard materials, U-005 and U-030) were measured and compared with certified values. The differences between them showed 0.04% for U-235, 2% for U-234 and 2% for U-236, respectively.
