Membrane pervaporation processes could have advantages over distillation for separation of water/organics mixtures: a low energy demand and the ability to separate azeotropic mixtures or isomers. Zeolite membranes might show better thermal, mechanical and chemical stabilities than polymer membranes. Water could be effectively separated from water/organic mixtures using the NaA zeolite membrane because of its high hydrophilicity. In this study, water was separated by pervaporation using the NaA zeolite membrane from water/ethanol mixtures. As a mole fraction of ethanol increased, the total permeation flux and the water flux decreased while the separation factor increased, reached a maximum point, and decreased. As an experimental temperature increased, the total permeation flux increased while the separation factor increased at the lower mole fraction of ethanol than 0.8 and it decreased at the higher mole fraction of ethanol than 0.8. The total permeation flux and the separation factor could be maintained constant during the long term experiment longer than 160 hours. It was found that the NaA zeolite membrane synthesized in our study showed better performance on water/ethanol separation than that of a distillation process or PVA polymeric pervaporation membranes.

A dense mixed ionic and electronic conducting ceramic membrane is one of the most promising materials because it can be used for separation of oxygen from the mixture gas. The $ABO_3$ perovskite structure shows high chemical stability at high temperatures under reduction and oxidation atmospheres. $BaCo_{1-x-y}Fe_xZr_yO_{3-{\delta}}$ (BCFZ) was well-known material as high mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity and stability in the high valence state. Glycine Nitrate Process (GNP) is rapid and effective method for powder synthesis using glycine as a fuel and show higher product crystallinity compared to solid state reaction and citrate-EDTA method. BCFZ was fabricated by modified glycine nitrate process. In order to control the burn-up reaction, $NH_4NO_3$ was used as extra nitrate. According to X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results, BCFZ was single phase regardless of Zr dopants from y=0.1 to 0.3 on B sites. The green compacts were sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Oxygen permeability, methane partial oxidation rate and hydrogen production ability of the membranes were characterized by using Micro Gas Chromatography (Micro GC) under various condition. The high oxygen permeation flux of BCFZ 1-451 was about $1ml{\cdot}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$. Using the humidified Argon gas, BCFZ 1-433 produced hydrogen about $1ml{\cdot}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$.

A perovskite-type ($La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Ti_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$) dense ceramic membrane was prepared by polymerized complex method, using citric acid as a chelating agent and ethylene glycol as an organic stabilizer. Effect of Ti addition on lanthanum-strontium ferrite mixed conductor was investigated by evaluating the thermal expansion coefficient, the oxygen flux, the electrical conductivity, and the phase stability. The thermal expansion coefficient in air was $21.19\;{\times}\;10^{-6}/K$ at 473 to 1,223 K. At the oxygen partial pressure of 0.21 atm ($20%\;O_2$), the electrical conductivity increased with temperature and then decreased after 973 K. The decrement in electrical conductivity at high temperatures was explained by a loss of the lattice oxygen. The oxygen flux increased with temperature and was $0.17\;mL/cm^2{\cdot}min$ at 1,223 K. From the temperature-dependent oxygen flux data, the activation energy of oxygen ion conduction was calculated and was 80.5 kJ/mol at 1,073 to 1,223 K. Also, the Ti-added lanthanum-strontium ferrite mixed conductor was structurally and chemically stable after 450 hours long-term test at 1,173 K.
Change of proteins was confirmed during low temperature acclimation of overwintering larva, and some biochemical characteristics of the induced antifreeze protein-1 (AFP-1) were investigated in Protaetia brevitarsis. As the freezing point depression by the action of induced AFPs, a considerable thermal hysteresis was observed in the haemolymph and in partially purified proteins. AFP-1 was purified from the cold acclimation larvae by ammonium sulfate precipitation ion exchange chromatography, gel permeation chromatography, and electroelution. The purified AFP-1 was determined to be a glycoprotein (approximately 320 kDa, pl 5.8) composed of a single type of subunit (80 kDa). The high contents of hydrophilic amino acids (Asp, Glu, Lys, Asn, Gln, Arg, Ser, Thr) were also confirmed, showing similarity with antifreeze proteins from other insects.
Triphenylvinylsilane (TPVS) containing vinyl acetate (VAc), butyl acrylate (BA), and Nmethylolacrylamide (NMA) copolymers were prepared by emulsion polymerization. The polymerization was performed at $80^{\circ}C$ in the presence of auxiliary agents and ammonium peroxodisulfate (APS) as the initiator. Sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and Arkupal N-300 were used as anionic and nonionic emulsifiers, respectively. The resulting copolymers were characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Thermal properties of the copolymers were studied by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The morphology of copolymers was also investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and then the effects of silicone concentrations on the properties of the TPVS-containing VAc-acrylic emulsion copolymers were discussed. The obtained copolymers have high solid content (50%) and can be used in weather resistant emulsion paints as a binder.

DWP40458 is a novel human thrombopoietin mutein with two additional N-linked glycosylation site. The thermal stability of DWP40458 in both solution and lyophilized form was studied in the temperature range of 4-50$^{\circ}C$, compared with recombinant human TPO (rhTPO). When the aggregation or degradation pattern of DWP40458 and rhTPO solution was characterized by using SDS-PAGE, gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and reverse phase HPLC, it was found that thermostability of DWP40458 was significantly different to rhTPO in the temperature at 25, 40, 40, 50$^{\circ}C$. A highly performed Pd-based hydrogen membrane has prepared successfully on a modified porous nickel support. The porous nickel support modified by impregnation method of $Al(NO_3)_3{\cdot}9H_2O$ (Aldrich Co.) over the nickel powder showed a strong resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and thermal stability. Plasma surface modification treatment was introduced as a pre-treatment process instead of conventional HCl wet activation. Ceramic barrier was coated on the external surface of the prepared nickel supports to prevent intermetallic diffusion and to enhance the affinity between the support and membrane. Palladium and copper were deposited at thicknesses of $4\mu}m$ and $0.5{\mu}m$, respectively, on a barrier-coated support by DC sputtering process. The permeation measurement was performed in pure hydrogen at $400^{\circ}C$. The single gas permeation of our membrane was two times higher than that of the previous membrane which do not have ceramic barrier.
In this study, five representative, commercially available polymers, Ultem 1000 polyetherimide, Kapton polyimide, phenolic resin, polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate, were used to prepare pyrolyzed polymer membranes coated on a porous {\alpha}-alumina$ tube via inert pyrolysis for gas separation. Pyrolysis conditions (i.e., final temperature and thermal dwell time) of each polymer were determined using a thermogravimetric method coupled with real-time mass spectroscopy. The surface area and pore size distribution of the pyrolyzed materials derived from the polymers were estimated from the nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. Pyrolyzed membranes from polymer precursors exhibited type I sorption behavior except cellulose acetate (type IV). The gas permeation of the carbon/{\alpha}-alumina$ tubular membranes was characterized using four gases: helium, carbon dioxide, oxygen and nitrogen. The polyetherimide, polyimide, and phenolic resin pyrolyzed polymer membranes showed typical molecular sieving gas permeation behavior, while membranes from polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate exhibited intermediate behavior between Knudsen diffusion and molecular sieving. Pyrolyzed membranes with molecular sieving behavior (e.g., polyetherimide, polyimide, and phenolic resin) had a $CO_2/N_2$ selectivity of greater than 15; however, the membranes from polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate with intermediate gas transport behavior had a selectivity slightly greater than unity due to their large pore size.
Triblock copolymers from poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and D,L-lactide or $\varepsilon$-carprolactone were synthesized to prepare semi-interpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN) with chitosan by U.V. irradiation method. Then, solute permeation through these semi-IPNs hydrogels were investigated. The structures of semi-IPNs were confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and wide angle X-ray diffractometer (WAXD). Equilibrium water content (EWC) of these hydrogels was in the range of 67-75%. The crystallinity, thermal properties and mechanical properties of semi-IPNs hydrogels were studied. All the hydrogels revealed a remarkable decrease in crystallinity as compared with PEG macromer itself. The tensile strengths of semi-IPNs hydrogels in dry state were rather high, but those of hydrogels in wet state decreased drastically. The permeabilities of solutes of hydrogels followed the swelling behaviors and were regulated by solute size.

It is caused that insulation paper, which had got a lot of thermal stress by over-load after installation, should have been deteriorated in electrical and mechanical characteristics. Beside, insulation material is decreased the insulating property and accelerated aging of them in case of dielectric loss when transformers are manufactured with some moisture or transformers would have been them because of moisture-permeation, Therefore, in this study we experienced the influence of moisture content in case of the thermal aged insulation paper. we have measured tan ${\delta}$ and breakdown voltage in the ratio of paper' moisture content before the aging and then taken the same tests again after insulation paper thermally accelerating-aged. There is a purpose to gain data for a life-design and to establish aging mechanism in order to continuously study life expectancy of the insulation paper.
