This paper presents the design method of a temperature stable stepped-impedance resonator using composite material. In this method temperature coefficient of dielectric constant $(\tau\varepsilon)$ and thermal expansion coefficient $(\alpha1)$ of dielectric material were considered. Ba(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 and CaZrO3 as composite material having opposite signs of temperature coefficient of dielectric constant were selected. The length of this resonator for the temperature stability of resonance frequency was calculated at 900MHz, 1.4㎓ and 1.9㎓. It was found that the ratio of the length of positive $\tau\varepsilon$ materal to the length of negative $\tau\varepsilon$ material is constant at various resonance frequencies.
Submicron high-purity mullite powder was prepared by a colloidal sol-gel route. Boehmite and silica were the starting materials. 2wt% $\alpha$-Al2O3 or ZrO2 was used as a seeding material. The gelled powder was calcined at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 100min and attrition milled for 3hrs. The mullite powder obtained was composed of submicrometer and uniform particles with a narrow size distribution. It was hot-pressed at 1$600^{\circ}C$ for 1hr under 10MPa or was sintered at 1$650^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs. The bulk densities of the products made by both processes were 3.14 and 3.12g/㎤. the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of the sintered mullite were characterized by bending strength, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity, dielectric constant and dielectric loss, etc.
In manufacturing process of porous glass-ceramics by the filler method, the sintering behaviour of crystallizable glass powder mixed with various salts was studied and also the effects of precipitated crystal phases on the properties of porous glass-ceramics were investigated. Fine-grained crystallizable glass powder was homogeneously mixed with various slat having grain size 100~200 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and sintered for densification. After washing out the inorganic salt with distilled water, the porous sintered body was heat treated additionly for crystallization. The MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 base glass was used as crystallizable glass powder and the water soluble salts such as K2SO4 and MgSO4 were used as filler. When K2SO4 was used, leucite crystal phase was formed as a result of the ion exchange and porous glass-ceramics which exhibit high temperature resistance and high thermal expansion coefficient of 17$\times$10-6/$^{\circ}C$ could be obtained. On the contrary, when MgSO4 was used, only slight ion exchange is observed and $\mu$-cordierite and $\alpha$-cordierite crystal phases were formed and porous glass-ceramics which exhibit low thermal expansion coefficient schedule were determined with the results of DTA curves, thermal shrinkage curves and XRD patterns analysis. From DTA curves and thermal shrinkage curves, it was found that the sintering densification have been completed at the temperature range of exothermic peak for crystallization. The pore size distributions and pore diameters were measured by mercury porosimeter. The pore diameter of porous glass-ceramics was 10~15 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ when 100~200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ grain size of K2SO4 was used and it was 25~30 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ when the same grain size of MgSO4 was used. The porous glass-ceramics K2SO4 used shows bimodal pore size distribution and its porous skeleton structure was ascertained by SEM observation.
Densification behavior, microstructural evolution, and mechanical properties of hot-pressed specimens using $\beta$-SiC and $\alpha$-SiC powder with Al2O3 additive were studied. Beta-SiC powder was fully densified as 205$0^{\circ}C$, but $\alpha$-SiC powder was at 210$0^{\circ}C$. The maximum flexural strength and the fracture toughness of the specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder were 681 MPa and 6.7 MPa{{{{ SQRT {m } }}, and thosevalues of specimen hot-pressed using $\alpha$-SiC powder were 452 MPa and 4.7 MPa{{{{ SQRT {m } }}, respectively. The strength superiority of specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder was due to the finer grain size, and higher density. The higher toughness of specimen hot-pressed using $\beta$-SiC powder than $\alpha$-SiC powder than $\alpha$-SiC powder was due to the crack deflection mechanism arised from the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between $\alpha$ and $\beta$-SiC phases which were co-existed in the sintered body.
$2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ powder, which is not synthesized by solid reaction method, was successfully synthesized through PVA solution method. In this process, the firing temperature and the PVA content strongly affected the crystallization behavior and final particle size. A stable ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ was synthesized at a firing temperature of $1200^{\circ}C$ and holding time of 4 h. ${\beta}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ was observed, with un-reacted $ZrO_2$ phases, for firing temperatures lower than $1200^{\circ}C$. In terms of the PVA content effect, the powder prepared with a PVA mixing ratio of 12:1 showed stable ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$; however, the ${\beta}$-phase was found to co-exist at relatively higher PVA content. The synthesized ${\alpha}$-phase $2ZrO_2{\cdot}P_2O_5$ powder showed an average particle size of 100~250 nm and an average thermal expansion coefficient of $-2.5{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$ in the range of room temp. ${\sim}800^{\circ}C$.
Chalcogenide glasses having IR (8~12${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) transmittance were prepared and their densities, thermal and mechanical properties, IR-transmittances and chemical durabilities were determined. Glass transition temperatures (Tg) of Ge-As-Se, Ge-As-Se-Te and Ge-SE-Te system glasses were in the range of 280~3$65^{\circ}C$, 210~236$^{\circ}C$ and 210~26$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. Crystallization temperature (Tc) of Ge-Se-Te system glass was in the range of 305~40$0^{\circ}C$. Their thermal expansion coefficients($\alpha$) were in the range of 11.7~15.2$\times$10-6/K, 15.4~16.0$\times$10-6/K and 17.4~27.8$\times$10-6/K, respectively. Their MOR, hardness and fracture toughness were in the range of 15.2~18.6MPa, 36.1~58.2Kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$, 1.0~1.3 MPa.mm1/2, 18.9~24.9 MPa, 40.9~65.1Kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$, 1.3~1.5 MPa.mm1/2, and 24.1~30.8 MPa, 40.9~86.0Kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$, 1.4~1.8 MPa.mm1/2, respectively. IR transmittance of Ge-Se-Te system glass was about 60%. Ge-O extrinsic absorption peaks at 8, 12 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were significantly eliminated by the addition of Mg. Chemical durabilities in deionizied water of Ge-Se-Te system glass were good and IR-transmittances decreased with leaching time and temperature.
Diamond is the hardest material known to humans, also possesses the highest thermal conductivity and a very low thermal expansion coefficient. Therefore, these properties of diamond make them logical choices for many difficult grinding application. Bonding material is a very important factor to performance of a grinding wheel. Grinding glass constitutes one of the major application areas of diamond grinding wheels, and Cu-Sn tin bronze matrix is widely used as a metal bond of diamond wheel in grinding glass but these studies are rarely reported. The bronze test pieces excluding diamond are sintered by the method of hot sizing respectively at $600^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$, with a composition(Cu-10wt%Sn) on ${\alpha}$ phase and two compositions(Cu-20wt%Sn and Cu-23wt%Sn) on ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ phase. The rupture strength of Cu-10wt%Sn is highest. The bronze bonded diamond wheels are manufactured by same conditions as the bronze test pieces. The results of grinding ratio of wheels are highest in case of Cu-10wt%Sn bonded wheel sintered at $650^{\circ}C$ and grinding power is highest in same composition sintered at $700^{\circ}C$.

In this paper, epoxy elasticity factors were investigated by TMA (Thermomechanical Analysis), DMTA (Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis) and FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) to improve toughness and reduce brittleness of existing epoxy resin. Dumbbell shaped specimens were made and tested at rates of 0, 20 and 35phr (part per hundred resins). TMA temperatures ranged from -2$0^{\circ}C$ to 20$0^{\circ}C$. Tg (glass transition temperature) of elastic epoxy was measured by thermal analysis. Also investigated were thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha$), modulus and Tan$\delta$ (loss factor). And we analyzed structure through FESEM, could find elastic-factors of elastic epoxy that is not existing-epoxy. In addition, we measured permittivity and Tan$\delta$ for investigation of the electrical properties of elastic epoxy. Permittivity and Tan$\delta$ depend on elastomer composition. Namely, permittivity and Tan$\delta$ increase according to the elastomer contents. For experimental analysis results, 20phr was considered an excellent specimen.
The residual stress is inevitably introduced into composites because of the mismatch of the coefficient of thermal expansion, and it is different in each phase. The X-ray technique can detect separately the stress in each phase, so will wield useful information for analyzing the toughening mechanisms of composites. In order to apply the law of mixture to alloy steels with composite microstructures, two phase stainless steel, consisted of ferrite (.alpha.-Fe) and austenite (.gamma.-Fe) structures, was selected. The tensile elastic deformation was loaded, and then the X-ray diffraction technique was used to measure the X-ray elastic constants, the X-ray stress constants and the phase stresses. The law of mixture was investigated and the separation of macrostress and microstress was carried out. The phase stresses (the residual stresses of phase) in each phase, which were measured by X-ray technique, was directly proportional to the applied stress. The macrostress calculated from the phase stresses by using the law of mixture was nearly equal to the applied stress.
Porous cordierite was synthesized by the mechano-chemical processing using fly ash. The phase evolution of cordierite was investigated as a function of processing variables such as milling time and sintering temperature. In this study, the phase transition path of cordierite from fly ash was followed by sapprine/spinel ${\to}$ mullite/spinel ${\to}{\alpha}$-cordierite. Porous cordierite fabricated after 32 h of milling time and sintering at $1150^{\circ}C$ showed relatively low thermal expansion coefficient ($2.5{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C\;(25{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$)) and high porosity (75%).
