  • To shorten the delivery time for new products, a lot of prototype plastic parts manufacturing technologies have been developed including injection molding, vacuum casting, thermal forming and so on. Among them, RIM is becoming one of a important soft tooling methods to produce prototype and mass production parts within short time. Further more, as the rapid prototyping technology based tooling methods are playing an important role in prototype manufacturing industry, the utility of the RIM is increasing. But few analyses and mold design techniques have been developed so far due to its chemical and mechanical complexity during the packing and curing process. This research suggests mold gate design criteria to prevent bobbles from molded parts through simplified mathematical model and change of bubble sizes according to the geometry of the molded parts through experiments. Also this study shows the differences of bobble generation mechanism between RIM and injection molding.

  • Gate protection $SiN_x$ as an alternative to a conventional re-oxidation process in Dynamic Random Access Memory devices is investigated. This process can not only protect the gate electrode tungsten against oxidation, but also save the thermal budget due to the re-oxidation. The protection $SiN_x$ process is applied to the poly-Si gate, and its device performance is measured and compared with the re-oxidation processed poly-Si gate. The results on the gate dielectric integrity show that etch damage-curing capability of protection $SiN_x$ is comparable to the re-oxidation process. In addition, the hot carrier immunity of the $SiN_x$ deposited gate is superior to that of re-oxidation processed gate.

  • Composite adsorbents were prepared by mixing water plant sludge with phenolic resin having the ratio of 1 : 1, 1 : 2, and 1 : 3 respectively, curing from $100^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$ under $N_2$ atmosphere, and then activating with $N_2$ at $700^{\circ}C$. Thermal property, specific surface area and morphology of the composite adsorbents as well as their precursors were measured by TGA, BET and SEM respectively. Removal efficiency of the composite adsorbents to ${NH_4}^+$ and TOC was compared with those of commercial zeolite and activated carbon. The adsorbents presented very promising TOC removal efficiency of 98%, which was identical level to that of commercial activated carbon while they displayed removal efficiency, only 32%, of ${NH_4}^+$. Therefore, this composite adsorbent considered as the alternative material of commercial activated carbon, used as an expensive removal agent of organic substances and THM in water treatment plant and it also suggested a possibility of practical application in other processes.

  • The processing of phenolic composite reinforced with hybrid of PAN based/Rayon based carbon fabrics using FBG sensor and thermocouple was studied. Once the composite is cured, the reflection spectrum from the FBG sensor shifted the center wavelength with an increase in the temperature. Also, the change in the form of the reflection spectrum obtained during the cooling process of the cure cycle was caused by the thermal shrinkage. During the curing process, uniform distribution of the temperature profile was observed throughout the sample.

  • During the curing process of thick glass/epoxy laminates, a substantial amount of temperature lag and overshoot at the center of the laminates is usually experienced due to the large thickness and low thermal conductivity of the glass/epoxy composites. Also, it takes a longer time for full and uniform consolidation. In this work, temperature, degree of cure and consolidation of a 20 mm thick unidirectional glass/epoxy laminate were investigated using an experiment and a 3-dimentional numerical analysis. From the experimental and numerical results, it was found that the experimentally obtained temperature profile agreed well with the numerical one, and the cure cycle recommended by the prepreg manufacturer should be modified to prevent a temperature overshoot and to obtain full consolidation.

  • The UV nanoimprint technology uses the UV light as the energy source. Because the imprint process is carried out in room temperature and low pressure, this technology has its own merits compared to the thermal nanoimprint. However, in UV nanoimprint technology, a resin which has low viscosity is essential for the improvement of accuracy. In this research, a resin (named as IMS01) which has relatively low viscosity was developed. And a measurement system was developed in order to measure the degree of cure of the resin. The measurement system which is composed of FT-IR, UV light source and optical guide can measure the degree of cure in real time. From the experimental results, it was found that the IMS01 is cured more rapidly than existing resin (PAK01).

  • As the reinforced concrete structures are aged, repair and rehabilitation materials and techniques have ben developed. However, most of the repair materials and methods are imported from abroad and theoretical study and repairing techniques are also not well established yet. A specification for quality of repair materials should be established, in order to secure the stability and to improve the serviceability of the repaired structures. In this study, long term properties of repair materials such as thermal expansion coefficient, hardening shrinkage, creep, and chemical resistance have been tested. The material properties shows to be affected many actors such as curing period, temperatures, relative humidity, and etc. The repair material should be selected by considering the cause and shape of the defects, mix properties, workability, quality control of construction, and etc.

  • This paper presents the material properties and production of 1400kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ ultra high-strength concrete in consideration of the history of hydration temperature for the practical utilization. A series of laboratory tests were conducted to optimize the mix proportion and then the full-scall mock up tests were performed to investigate the practicability. The thermal sensors were installed prior to concrete casting into the walls and columns, to measure the hydration temperature during the hardening process, which is inevitable to select the most appropriate curing scheme.

  • High reactivity metakaolin (HRM) is a manufactured pozzolan produced by thermal processing of purified kaolinitic clay. Field performance and laboratory research of concrete containing HRM have demonstrated its value for bridge decks, bridge deck overlays, high-strength concrete and masonry products. This paper discusses laboratory evaluations to assess the physical properties of antiwashout underwater concrete (AWC) containing HRM, such as pH value, suspended solids, slump flow, and compressive strength. There were not much variations of pH value with the changing HRM contents, but suspended solid test showed that the amount of suspended solids of AWC with 10 and 20% of HRM were reduced in comparison with plain. Due to the fast hydration and reaction property of HRM, slump flow was decreased with increasing HRM contents. According to the results of compressive strength test, AWC with 10 and 20% of HRM showed higher strength characteristic than plain at all curing ages.

  • Breathable waterproof PET fabrics were prepared by the UV coating of UV-curable polyurethaneacrylate(PUA) formulation mixed with polyethyleneglycol(PEG) as a water soluble pore former. The dispersed PEG in the UV-cured coating was extracted by warm water, which can generate individual circular pores uniformly distributed all over the coating instead of pore channels. Accordingly the moisture permeability of the microporously coated fabrics increased substantially with increasing PEG addition without significant reduction of hydrostatic pressure. Also the silicone diacrylate addition in the formulation was beneficial in increasing the hydrostatic pressure. The UV-based microporous coating can be an alternative to conventional thermal curing of solventborne polyurethane coating owing to the enhanced environment friendliness and energy saving.
