건물용 열병합발전 시스템의 적정규모 산정을 위한 최적 투자모형 (Optimal Sizing Evaluation Model of Building Cogeneration System)

  • For an effective application of the cogeneration system for commercial and industrial buildings, we need to develop a relevant model to determine the long-term based optimal sizing of the cogeneration system considering electrical and thermal load demands, buy and sell contracts with electric utility and the annual production cost. In assessing the optimal sizing of cogeneration, we have to consider both economic parameters and their capacity expansion for the increased electrical and thermals demand in the future. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model for the optimal sizing of cogeneration systems considering annual production costs and other economic parameter such as, lifetime of the equipment, time value of the capital, etc. In the case study, we thoroughly examine the effects of the economic parameters and determine the optimal size of the sample system. In addition, we calculate the payback period of the cogeneration investment.

  • Thermal design fur satellite propulsion system has been performed. Overall design requirements and the constitution for propulsion system is described. To meet the thermal design requirements, both a primary and a redundant heater circuit, each with two thermostats placed in series, will protect each hydrazine-wetted components, even if one heater circuit fails to operate. Heater power is turned off if any one of these thermostats is opened at its higher setpoint. Thus, even if one thermostat is failed closed, the second thermostat will turn off the heater. All such components shall be insulated with MLI. Propulsion heater sizing based on the constant worst cold case condition is conducted through thermal analysis. All heaters selected fur propulsion components operate to prevent propellant freezing satisfying the thermal requirements for the propulsion subsystem over the worst case average voltage, i.e. 25 volts.

  • 구리밀봉 증기발생기의 열적크기 계산을 위한 1차원 열수력코드를 개발하였다. 고온 및 저온측 전열관사이의 구리의 열전도는 1차원으로 가정하고, 전열관 피치의 함수로 열저항을 구하였다 물/증기측 유동영역은 아냉, 포화핵비등, 포화막비등, 과열영역의 4 구간으로 구분하였다. 매개변수 연구를 위한 전열관 갯수는 250에서 3500이며, P/D비율은 각각1.4, 1.6, 1.8로 하였다. 계산결과, 전열관 갯수가 2500일 때 전열관 길이는 약 12 m, 직경은 약 3 m이다. P/D를 증가시키면 구리에 의한 열저항 성분이 증가하지만 전열관 길이는 큰 차이가 없음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Heaters for the spacecraft propulsion system are sized to prevent propellant from catastrophic freezing. For this purpose, thermal mathematical model (TMM) of the propulsion system is developed. Calculation output is compared with the results obtained from thermal vacuum test in order to check the validity of TMM. Despite a little discrepancy between the two types of results, both of them are qualitatively compatible. It is concluded that the propulsion system heaters are correctly sized and TMM can be used as a thermal design tool for the spacecraft propulsion system.

일체형 원자로의 공랭식 열교환기 개념 연구 (A Conceptual Study of an Air-cooled Heat Exchanger for an Integral Reactor)

  • A conceptual study of an air-cooled heat exchanger is conducted to achieve the long-term passive cooling of an integral reactor. A newly designed air-cooled heat exchanger is introduced in the present study and preliminary thermal sizing is demonstrated. This study mainly focuses on feasibility of an innovative air-cooled heat exchanger to extend the cooling period of the passive residual heat removal system(PRHRS) only in passive manners. A vertical shell-and-tube air-cooled heat exchanger is installed at the top of the emergency cooldown tank(ECT) to collect evaporated steam into condensate, which enables water inventory of the ECT to be kept. Finally, thermal sizing of an air-cooled heat exchanger is presented. The length and the number of tubes required, and also the height of a stack are calculated to remove the designated heat duty. The present study will contribute to an enhancement of the passive safety system of an integral reactor.

경계 조건에 따른 지열 응답 함수의 차이가 수직형 지열 교환기 길이 산정에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Different Boundary Conditions in Generating g-function on the Sizing of Ground Heat Exchangers)

  • Eskilson's g-function, a well-known geothermal heat response factor, is widely used for sizing of the ground heat exchangers. Unlike the Eskilson's original model that uses common temperature boundaries for all boreholes and along the borehole height, an analytical-solution-based g-function uses a uniform heat transfer rate over the height with variable heat transfer rates for respective boreholes. To evaluate the impact of such a boundary difference on g-function and the design length, a simple case study was carried out on the cooling-dominant commercial buildings. The results show that the design lengths given by the boundary of uniform heat transfer rates are longer than those given by Eskilson's boundary for all cases tested. The difference in length is more important when the bore field is composed of more boreholes with shorter length of each borehole.

  • 본 논문은 전력회사 소유의 열병합발전소와 난방공사 소유의 보조열원설비들이 서로 연계되어 열에너지를 공급해 주고 있는 종합 열병합발전시스템에서, 보조설비들의 최적규모산정 및 일간 최적운전계획 수립 기법을 제안하였다. 최적규모산정과 운전계획수립은 국가적인 측면에서 총 연료비가 최소가 되는 관점에서 수립하였고, 이를 증명하기 위하여 계절별(춘계, 하계, 동계) 및 종류별(평일, 휴일, 연휴)로 나누어 각각의 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 최적의 규모 및 운전계획을 수립하였다. 본 연구결과는 자사의 이익이 증대되도록 계획을 수립할 공산이 큰 종합 열병합발전시스템에서 국가적 측면에서의 기법과 가이드라인을 제시하였으므로 현장에서의 많은 활용이 기대된다.

  • The rotor thermal analysis consists of determining the heat load to the rotor, sizing the cryogenic system, and ensuring that the HTS rotor will operate at the design goal of 30 K. The heat load to the rotor is due to heat conduction through the torque tubes, current leads, instrumentation. and radiation from the thermal shield and the end caps. Coil operating temperature is determined from the coil losses and the heat transport to the coolant. An FEM thermal conductivity model is developed to allow calculation of heat transport in HTS field coil according to the heat exchanger shape and coolant feeding method. The losses determine the size of the cryocooler.

  • This paper deals with an optimization approach of 3D space placement of power components under volume and thermal constraints. It consists in optimizing semiconductors positions on a heat sink by respecting the components junction temperatures and minimizing the heat sink size. The aim is to remove risks on the 3D converter components placement and ensure their effective integration before carrying out the first physical prototype. This approach is based on coupling an optimization environment with a thermal finite element simulation tool. A pre-sizing step using analytical models is performed to set the optimization computations coupled to numerical simulation.
