The focus control mechanism of the multi-purpose camera can be required for the better quality image acquisition. A good image acquisition through the hardware system including the optics and image sensor, has to be processed before the post correction for improvement of image quality. In the case of the high-resolution satellite camera, the focus control is not a necessity, unlike a normal camera due to a fixed optical system, but may be required due to various reasons. Although there is a basic focus control method using a motor for satellite electronic optical camera, a focus control method using thermal control can be a good alternative because of its various advantages in design, installation, operation, contamination, high reliability and etc. In this paper, we describe the design method and implementation results for the focus control mechanism using the temperature sensor and heater installed in the telescope structure. In the proposed focus control method, the measured temperature information is converted into temperature data by the Kalman filter and the converted temperature data are used in PI controller for the thermal focus control.
This paper deals with the design and development of a lens system capable of imaging an infrared image of $3{\sim}5{\mu}m$ wavelength bands with a focal length of 24mm and good atmospheric transmission characteristics. The design used CodeV, a commercial design program, and the optimization is carried out with weighting to eliminate chromatic aberration, spherical aberration and distortion. The designed lens system consists of two lenses consisting of Si and Ge. Each lens has an aspherical surface on one side. And this optical system has the resolution of the characteristics that the MTF value is 0.40 at the line width of 29lp/mm and the MTF value is 0.25 at the line width of 20lp/mm. This optical system is considered to have the capability to be applied to the thermal imaging camera for MWIR using the $206{\times}156$ array infrared detector of $25{\mu}m$ pixels and the $320{\times}240$ array infrared detector of $17{\mu}m$ pixels.

In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of thermal deformation of the TPS which is a core part of engine in vehicle by measuring out-of-plane deformation using ESP!. Inspection area of a test piece was minimized to 5 cm by 5 cm by using a high resolution CCD and a zoom lens. 4-step phase shifting method was used along with phase unwrapping algorithm to get a continuous phase map, configurations and deformations were displayed as 3D images. When heating the test pieces while maintaining the temperature at about $70^{\circ}C$, the out-of-plane deformations were measured. The results showed that a test piece with longer distance traveled tends to show larger thermal deformation, we could observes a convex shaped deformation on the surface. The inner defect sample, we could monitor discontinuous pattern phase map, and a concave shaped deformation on the surface.
An electrical signals of a conventional radiation medical imaging sensor are obtained by charge integration method. In this study, the polycrystalline cadmium telluride(p-CdTe) film was fabricated by a thermal evaporation method for the photon counting sensor development with excellent resolution in low exposure dose. From the fabricated p-CdTe sensor, the physical properties(SEM, XRD) and the electrical properties(leakage current, x-ray sensitivity, SNR) were evaluated. As a result, the leakage current of below $5nA/cm^2$ and $7{\mu}C/cm^2-R$ of the X-ray sensitivity were showed in below $1V/{\mu}m$. In addition, the signal to noise ratio showed the values of above 5000 at operating voltage.

IGRINS, the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrometer, is a near-infrared wide-band high-resolution spectrograph jointly developed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute and the University of Texas at Austin. IGRINS employs three HAWAII-2RG focal plane array (FPA) detectors. The mechanical mounts for these detectors serves a critical function in the overall instrument design: Optically, they permit the only positional compensation in the otherwise "build to print" design. Thermally, they permit setting and control of the detector operating temperature independently of the cryostat bench. We present the design and fabrication of the mechanical mount as a single module. The detector mount includes the array housing, a housing for the SIDECAR ASIC, a field flattener lens holder, and a support base. The detector and ASIC housing will be kept at 65 K and the support base at 130 K. G10 supports thermally isolate the detector and ASIC housing from the support base. The field flattening lens holder attaches directly to the FPA array housing and holds the lens with a six-point kinematic mount. Fine adjustment features permit changes in axial position and in yaw and pitch angles. We optimized the structural stability and thermal characteristics of the mount design using computer-aided 3D modeling and finite element analysis. Based on the computer simulation, the designed detector mount meets the optical and thermal requirements very well.
Exposure rates due to leakage gamma-rays from operating reactors TRIGA Mark II and III were measured in a horizontal plane by means of scintillation spectrometry using a 3"$\times$3" cylindrical Nal(T1) detector associated with a 400 channel pulse height analyzer under varied conditions of reactor operation. In determining exposure rate due to the leakage gamma-rays at each point of measurement, Moriuchi's spectrum-exposure rate conversion theory was applied instead of using conventional responce matrix method which necessitates very complicated procedures to convert a spectrum into exposure rate. The results show that a basic pattern of "typical" spectrum of the reactor leakage gamma-rays is neither affected by thermal output of the reactor, nor influenced by overall attenuation in radiation intensity. It was indicated that he attenuation of the leakage gamma-rays in air in terms of exposure rate as a whole follows an exponential law, and the total exposure rate due to the leakage gamma-rays at a certain point is nearly proportional to thermal output of the reactor. The complexity in spectrum measured for a movable core reactor, TRIGA Mark III, was analyzed through spectrum resolution, and proper judgement of the leakage gamma-rays in a complex spectrum was discussed.ctrum was discussed.

Self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) were grown by the atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) techniques, The structure and the thermal stability of QDs have been studied by high resolution electron microscopy with in-situ heating experiment capability, The ALE and MBE QDs were found to form a hemispherical structure with side facets in the early stage of growth, Upon capping by GaAs layer, however, the apex of QDs changed to a flat one. The ALE QDs have larger size and more regular shape than those of MBE QDs. The QDs collapse due to elevated temperature was observed directly in atomic scale, In situ heating experiment within TEM revealed that the uncapped QDs remained stable up to $580^{\circ}C$, However, at temperature above $600^{\circ}C$, the QDs collapsed due to the diffusion and evaporation of In and As from the QDs, The density of the QDs decreased abruptly by this collapse and most of them disappeared at above $600^{\circ}C$.
In order to implement the integrated capacitive pressure sensors, which contains integrated interface circuits to detect the electrical output signal, several main factors that have a bad effect on the characteristics of sensors must be improved, such as parasitic capacitance effects, temperature/thermal drift, and the leakage current of a readout circuitry. This paper describes the novel design of the dedicated CMOS readout circuitry that is consists of two capacitance to frequency converters and 4 bit digital logic compensating circuits. Dividing the oscillation frequency of a sensing sensor by that of reference sensor, this circuit is designed to eliminate the thermal/temperature drift and the effect of the leakage currents, and to access a digital signals to obtain a high signal-to-noise(S/N)ratio. Therefore, the resolution of this circuit can be increased by increasing the number of the digital bits. Digital compensated circuits of this circuits, except for the C-F converters, are fabricated on a FPGA chip, and fundamental performance of the circuits are evaluated.
The method of measuring and classifying the energy category of neutrons directly using raw data acquired through a CZT detector is not satisfactory, in terms of accuracy and efficiency, because of its poor energy resolution and low measurement efficiency. Moreover, this method of measuring and analyzing the characteristics of low-energy or low-activity gamma-ray sources might be not accurate and efficient in the case of neutrons because of various factors, such as the noise of the CZT detector itself and the influence of environmental radiation. We have therefore developed an efficient method of analyzing radiation characteristics using a neutron and gamma-ray analysis algorithm for the rapid and clear identification of the type, energy, and radioactivity of gamma-ray sources as well as the detection and classification of the energy category (fast or thermal neutrons) of neutron sources, employing raw data acquired through a CZT detector. The neutron analysis algorithm is based on the fact that in the energy-spectrum channel of 558.6 keV emitted in the nuclear reaction 113Cd + 1n → 114Cd + in the CZT detector, there is a notable difference in detection information between a CZT detector without a PE modulator and a CZT detector with a PE modulator, but there is no significant difference between the two detectors in other energy-spectrum channels. In addition, the gamma-ray analysis algorithm uses the difference in the detection information of the CZT detector between the unique characteristic energy-spectrum channel of a gamma-ray source and other channels. This efficient method of analyzing radiation characteristics is expected to be useful for the rapid radiation detection and accurate information collection on radiation sources, which are required to minimize radiation damage and manage accidents in national disaster situations, such as large-scale radioactivity leak accidents at nuclear power plants or nuclear material handling facilities.

Black ices on road surfaces in winter tend to cause severe and terrible accidents. It is very difficult to detect black ice events in advance due to their localities as well as sensitivities to surface and upper meteorological variables. This study develops a methodology to detect the road sections vulnerable to black ice with the use of road surface temperature data obtained from a mobile road weather observation vehicle. The 7 experiments were conducted on the route from Nam-Wonju IC to Nam-Andong IC (132.5 km) on the Jungang Expressway during the period from December 2020 to February 2021. Firstly, temporal road surface temperature data were converted to the spatial data with a 50 m resolution. Then, the spatial road surface temperature was normalized with zero mean and one standard deviation using a simple normalization, a linear de-trend and normalization, and a low-pass filter and normalization. The resulting road thermal map was calculated in terms of road surface temperature differences. A road ice index was suggested using the normalized road temperatures and their horizontal differences. Road sections vulnerable to black ice were derived from road ice indices and verified with respect to road geometry and sky view, etc. It was found that black ice could occur not only over bridges, but also roads with a low sky view factor. These results are expected to be applicable to the alarm service for black ice to drivers.
