  • With the rapid development of the national industry, the importance of electrical safety was recognized because of a lot of new electrical equipment are installing and the electrical accidents have been occurring annually. Today, the electrical equipments is inspect by using the portable Infrared thermal imaging camera. but the most negative element of using the camera is inspected for only state of heating, the reliable diagnosis is depended with inspector's knowledge, and real-time monitoring is impossible. This paper present the infrared thermal imaging safety diagnosis system. This system is able to monitor in real time, predict the state of fault, and diagnose the state with analysis of thermal and power data. The system consists of a main processor, an infrared camera module, the power data acquisition board, and a server. The diagnostic algorithm is based on a mathematical model designed by analyzing the Pearson's Correlation Coefficient between temperature and power data. To test the prediction algorithm, the simulations were performed by damaging the terminals or cables on the switchboard to generate a large amount of heat. Utilizing these simulations, the developed prediction algorithm was verified.

  • A thermal imaging system is implemented for the measurement and the analysis of the thermal distribution of the target objects. The main part of the system is a thermal camera in which a focal plane array typed sensor is introduced. The sensor detects the mid-range infrared spectrum of target objects and then it outputs a generic video signal which should be processed to form a frame thermal image. Here, a digital signal processor(DSP) is applied for the high speed processing of the sensor signals. The DSP controls analog-to-digital converter, performs correction algorithms and outputs the frame thermal data to frame buffers. With the frame buffers can be generated a NTSC signal and transferred the frame data to personal computer(PC) for the analysis and a monitoring of the thermal scenes. By performing the signal processing functions in the DSP the overall system achieves a simple configuration. Several experimental results indicate the performance of the overall system.

  • Thermal imaging technology based on IR sensor with high transmittance through the fire smoke is considered as one of the advanced technology for the fire service. The present study has been performed to investigate the image saturation characteristics with thermal condition of target and background and evaluate the performance of image quality based on the contrast transfer function (CTF). For the present testing conditions, TIC using BST sensor did not show the image saturation and the image quality based on the CTF was proportional to the temperature difference between target and background. This study can be utilized as preliminary study to improve reliability and technical development of TIC.

  • Objectives: An objective of this study is to apply a thermal image camera which shows various color according to temperature of indoor surface for estimating concentration of airborne fungi. Materials and Methods: While wall temperature were monitored by applying the thermal image camera, airborne bacteria as well as air temperature and relative humidity have been measured in lecture room and toilet of university for seven months. Results: Based on the results obtained from this study, the ranges of temperature and airborne fungi concentration were $20{\sim}24^{\circ}C$ and $20{\sim}400cfu/m^3 $ for red image, $17.5{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ and $35{\sim}150cfu/m^3$ for orange image, $15.5{\sim}17.5^{\circ}C$ and $25{\sim}650cfu/m^3$ for sky-blue image, and $13.5{\sim}15.5^{\circ}C$ and $50{\sim}200cfu/m^3$ for blue image, respectively. The color of indoor surface taken shot by thermal image camera showed consistent trend with temperature of indoor surface. There is, however, little correlation between color of indoor surface and airborne fungi concentration(p>0.05). Among environmental factors, relative humidity in indoor air showed a significant relationship with airborne fungi concentration(p<0.05). Conclusions: The more measurement data for proving statistically an association between color of indoor surface and airborne fungi concentration should be provided to easily estimate indoor level of airborne fungi.

  • Purpose: This study relates to the development of the prism dot-sight combined with the thermal imaging camera. Methods: We have placed a reflector designed to the doublet type in the front of a BS (beam splitting) prism, have placed an OLED panel and a dot reticle generator to the top and bottom of the reflecting surface of the BS prism, and have placed a detachable magnifier between the BS prism and the observer by which the observer can see the magnified image of the OLED panel. By doing this, we were able to configure the new type prism dot-sight combined with the thermal imaging camera. Results: By placing the removable magnifier designed with a new type between the BS prism and the observer, we could design the new type prism dot-sight which performs the role of the dot sight by removing the magnifier during the day-time, and performs the role of the night scope during the night-time by which we can observe the enlarged image of the thermal imaging camera through the BS prism by attaching the removable magnifier. Conclusions: In this study, we have developed the prism dot-sight combined with the thermal imaging camera which is able to play the role of the day or night scope selectively, by disposing the designed magnifier characterized by the focal length of 44 mm, the viewing angle of ${\pm}7.0^{\circ}$, and the MTF value of 0.5 or more at the criterion of 50 lp/mm and the 0.7 field between the BS prism and the observer. By doing so, we could design and fabricate the new type prism dot-sight combined with the thermal imaging camera which can further increase the rapidity of firing and provide more convenience in the mounting of a firearm than the detachable combination of an existing dot sight and an existing night scope.

  • The substrate behavior response testing outlined in KS F 2622 evaluates the leakage cause of waterproofing membrane systems when subjected to the concrete joint load behaviors by removing the waterproofing layer after testing, relying mostly on visual observation and subjective analysis. A non-destructive leakage cause and failure type analysis method is proposed currently in this study by the means of detecting leakage paths using thermal emission imaging systems. Test specimens are placed in varying temperature conditions after the concrete joint movement testing and are scanned using the thermal emission camera to determine the location and dimension of the adhesion failure/leakage path beneath the waterproofing membranes.

  • The leaf temperature is principally regulated by the opening and closing of stomata that is sensitive to various kinds of plant physiological stress. Thus, the analysis of thermal imagery, one of remote sensing technique, will be useful to detect crop physiological condition on smart farm system and phenomics platform. However, there are few case studies using a thermal imaging camera on the agricultural application. In this study, three cases are presented: the effect of lime fertilizer on the rice, the different physiological properties of soybean under shading condition, and the screening of soybean breeds for salinity tolerance characteristic. The leaf temperature measured by thermal imaging camera on the three cases was used effectively to the physiological change and characteristics. However, the thermal imagery analysis requires considering the accuracy of measured temperature and the weather conditions that affects to the leaf temperature.

  • This paper presents the design and evaluation of the optical system for an uncooled thermal-imaging camera. The operating wavelength range of this system is from $7.7{\mu}m$ to $12.8{\mu}m$. Through optimization, we have obtained a LWIR (Long Wave Infrared) optical system with a focal length of 5.44 mm, which consists of four aspheric surfaces and two diffractive surfaces. The f-number of the optical system is F/1.2, and its field of view is $90^{\circ}{\times}67.5^{\circ}$. The hybrid lens was used to balance the higher-order aberrations, and its diffraction properties were evaluated by scalar diffraction theory. We calculated the polychromatic integrated diffraction efficiency, and the MTF drop generated by background noise. We have evaluated the thermal compensation of a LWIR fixed optical system, which is optically passively athermalized to maintain MTF performance in the focal depth. In conclusion, these design results are useful for an uncooled thermal-imaging camera.
