Objectives : The purpose of this study is to understand the treatment process experiences of patients with whiplash associated disorder treated with Traditional Korean Medicine. Methods : This study was based on grounded theory. We recruited a total of 10 participants between the ages of 19 and 65, who were hospitalized at Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital and received treatment after traffic accidents from January to October 2014. Data was collected from in-depth interviews and notes, and was analyzed using open coding, axial coding and selective coding. Results : The core category of the phenomenon: 'The experiences of the treatment process for patients with whiplash associated disorder treated with Traditional Korean Medicine', was elicited as 'The selection of Traditional Korean Medicine treatment over other treatments for holistic healing that supplement for the deficiencies of Western medical treatment'. Conclusion :' The experiences of treatment process for patients with whiplash associated disorder treated with Traditional Korean Medicine', was elicited as 'The selection of the Traditional Korean Medicine treatment over other treatments for holistic healing that complements deficiency of the Western medical treatment'.

Objectives Hand paresthesia is common syndrome and the cause is more unknown than known reason. The Purpose of this study were investigated the effects of Myofacial Pain Syndrome theory to make diagnosis and treatment by Pharmacopuncture for the patients of hand paresthesia. Method This study was carried out to established the clinical criteria of hand parethesia. The patients who had past history of diabeics, neuropathy induced by alcohol or drug were excluded, and 86 patients who had hand paresthesia related with unknown-reason was selected by the interview process. And the effects of Pharmacopuncture theory were analyzed using VAS score before and after treatment. Results and conclusions 56.9% of unknown-reason patients are positive at diagnosis by MPS theory. While positive group decrease from $62.81{\pm}14.27$ to $25.28{\pm}15.97$, negative group decrease from $55.88{\pm}10.92$ to $48.28{\pm}14.01$ by VAS scores. Positive group was accordingly more effective than negative group. So diagnosis and treatment for hand numbness patients by MPS theory was useful in clinical.

Objectives : The objectives of this study lie in theoretical establishment of Bopyeo-tang for treating asthenic syndrome of the lung through analyzing the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang, and furthermore, maximizing the clinical effectiveness of Bopyeo-tang. Methods : This study analyzed the component medicines and combination principles of Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang based on the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines from the ${\ulcorner}$Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine${\lrcorner}$, the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, dispatcher herbal medicine, and the five elements doctrine. Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang is an unusual prescription, composed of 7 kinds of ingredients. Results : There are three methods for curing asthenic syndrome of the lung according to the five elements doctrine: invigorating the lung, invigorating the spleen and purging the heart. There are two available methods to invigorate the lung, taste and property invigoration, according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each imply the sour taste and the cool property invigorate the lung. In the case of taste invigoration, two herbal medicines with sour taste, Sarcucarpium Corni and Fructus Schisandrae, are combined into the principal and assistant herbal medicine, respectively. For property invigoration, two herbal medicines with the cool property, Colla Corii Asini and Radix Ophiopogonis, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. There are likewise two methods to invigorate the spleen, including taste and property invigoration according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. They each mean the sweet taste and the warm property invigorate the spleen. Therefore, it is important to use sweet herbal medicines for taste invigoration and warm ones for property invigoration. Both sweet and warm herbal medicines, Radix Ginseng and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, are combined into adjuvant herbal medicines. Lastly, there are two methods to purge the heart, which include taste and property purgation according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicines. Taste purgation means to purge the heart with sweet taste and property purgation to purge the heart with cold property. Therefore, it is important to use sweet herbal medicines for taste purgation and cold ones for property purgation. Both sweet and cold herbal medicines, Colla Corii Asini and Radix Ophiopogonis, were combined to purge the heart and invigorate the lung. In addition, Radix Glycyrrhizae Praeparata is added as a dispatcher herbal medicine, harmonizing all the other herbal medicines comprising the formula. Conclusions : First, to treat asthenic syndrome of the lung, the methods of invigorating the lung and the spleen and purging the heart should be used according to the five elements doctrine. Secondly, herbal medicines appropriate for those treatment methods should be chosen according to the theory for properties and tastes of herbal medicine and thirdly, the combination of those herbal medicines should be carried out according to the theory for principal herbal medicine, assistant herbal medicine, adjuvant herbal medicine, and dispatcher herbal medicine. As a good example, Hyeongok's Bopyeo-tang is combined according to the above theories. In conclusion, this formula was created by applying the theory of properties and tastes of herbal medicines.

Objectives : Hyun-Ga therapy, a creative method that involves meridian pathways for isometric exercise, has displayed the possibility of treating and alleviating idiopathic scoliosis in terms of theory. The researcher explored current research trends and introduced Hyun-Ga therapy in which meridian pathways theory is applied. Methods : We examined theses and books of oriental or western medicine that cover idiopathic scoliosis. By doing these, we looked into the role of Hyun-Ga therapy towards the prevention and treatment of idiopathic scoliosis, and gained the following results. Results and Conclusions : Hyun-Ga therapy, the manual technique that has introduced the concept of silence and movement into rectifying the body through isometric exercise on meridian pathways in the limbs, can be practiced more easily than other conventional manual techniques. Hyun-Ga therapy based on meridian pathways theory is highly evaluated for its clinical insight on the structural and functional roles of meridian pathways. The theory of Hyun-Ga therapy, however, needs to be supported by more objective and sufficient complementary data. For this, continuing research and analysis are required in the future.

Objective : This paper introduces a unique meridian theory developed by Japanese philosopher Yuasa Yasuo. Method : His meridian theory is well organized in his philosophy, so we systematically review his major works and philosophy from which we systematize his meridian theory. And we critically examine it with current studies. Results and Conclusions : He tried to overcome Cartesian mind-body dualism by Eastern thought and newly developing neurophysiology. He articulated "body scheme" from human information systems, primarily nervous system and meridian system, which regulate physiological functions. It consists of 1st external sensory motor circuit, 2nd circuit of coenesthesis, 3rd emotion-instinct circuit and 4th circuit of unconscious quasi-body. Meridian system is the 4th circuit, through which he thought various affect(emotion) flows. Based on the relationship of emotion-autonomic nervous system- meridian-skin, he tried to confirm the existence of meridian system. His theory illuminates mind-body problem and emotion-meridian relationship in traditional East Asian medicine.

Sasang Constitution Medicine(SCM)'s researches have been developed in many ways, especially Herbal medicine prescriptions and diagnosis. But there are no acceptable acupuncture theory for the Sasang Constitution. So We have tried to find the way for identifying each Sasang Constitution's acupuncture point on more reasonable methods. We studied that SCM acupuncture based on collecting Books of "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)", or Six-meridian pattern identification's acupuncture prescription. Selected books are "The Acupuncture and Moxibustion(침구학)", "Zhonghua Zhenjiuxue(中華鍼灸學)", "Zhenjiuxinchuan(鍼灸心傳)", "Shanghanlun Zhenjiupeixuexuanzhu(傷寒論鍼灸配穴選注)". So-eumin uses Conception Vessel's acupuncture points most frequently. And So-yangin and Tae-eumin use Bladder meridian and Stomach meridian's acupuncture points most. Moxibustion is used many times for So-eumin, especially at three Yin-Symptoms(三陰病). Orders for using frequencies of three Sasang constitutions' acupuncture points are: So-eumin uses ST36 CV12 CV4 most, So-yangin uses PC6 ST36 LI4 most, Tae-eumin uses ST36 LU7 CV12 most. Acupuncture for Sasang constitutions has been developed for many ways, but there are no generally acceptable theory. So we need to hold a committee for SCM and acupuncture specialist to establish acceptable and reasonable SCM acupuncture theory.

This study is clinical report for a acute stroke patient who was improved by treatment of a herbal medication. Stroke patients often shows spirit disorder in early stage. However, the cases which applied Onbyung theory are rare. This paper aims to show that Onbyung theory can be effective to acute stroke. We diagnosed the patient as invasion of the yong system by heat(熱入營分), which showed confusion, insomnia, delirium, anxiety, reddened tongue and dry mouth with cracked lip. After administration of Chungyung-tang(淸營湯) in Wen bing Tiao (溫病條辨), the patient showed those symptoms were highly improved. Thus, we concluded that Onbyung Theory can the patient be adapted to improve the symptom of acute stroke.

In Chinese philosophy, the concept of Yin and Yang, in the era of the Early China, applies to many more philosophical categories than merely the relationship between the sunny side and the shady side of the sun. A whole series of possible interactions between the Yin and Yang in life is contained in the Chinese Book of Changes, the I Ching. The philosophical theory and the origin of natural sciences of the I Ching is imbued in the Nei Ching. having absorbed and developed the essence of Book of Changes, the Nei Ching reflects the spirit of science. Under the influence of Book of Changes, as well as its idea of Yin and Yang, peculiar at the time, the Nei Ching adapts the essences of the theory of Yin and Yang. The contribution made by the Nei Ching to the development of the philosophical concepts of Yin and Yang lies in that it combines those philosophical concepts with medicine and makes this the basic theory of Chinese medicine. In the Nei Ching, the Yin and Yang theory asserts that the human body is an organic whole, and there exists an organic connection between all tissues and structures. Therefore, the Yin and Yang functions as an essential life that plays a major role of the organic interrelation, the mutual control, and the mutual assistance. Yet, at the same time, each of them can be divided into the opposite aspects of yin and yang. Yin and yang depend on each other for existence. Without yin, there would be no yang, Without yang, there would be no yin. Neither can exist in isolation. Thus the interrelation of Yin and Yang is premised on the two opposite forces and aspects as the underlying cause of all change of Yin and Yang.

The theory of Hwa Acupuncture Therapy (HAT), called Hwa Chim Therapy, is a part of the Five Elements Theory unique to Korea. H99AT, created and developed by Jaehoon Song, integrates the victor-vanquished as well as the son-mother relationship of the Five Elements of breakdown and restoration of balance between yin and yang. And also, it provides resources and data on The seventy fifth Difficulty Nan(75難), The sixty ninth Difficulty Nan(69難) of Classic on Difficulty - Nan Jin 75, 69. HAT establishes objectiveness and accuracy of diagnosis based upon the traditional method and procedure of pulse taking. In HAT, a person's state of illness is diagnosed by applying the comparative examination of the palpitation of the pulse. It is the fact that the pulse varies according to the state, and that HAT treatment has proven the positive results by using the victor-vanquished relationship of Classic on The Nan Jin 75. On the basis of this, it is necessary to add the sixty ninth Difficulty(69難), to research the theory of the generation of the Five Element. Despite a the concise and simple theory, Hwa Chim is very effective in treating the wide range of illness, and thus it has gained an increasing attention of many scholars and practitioners in the field of traditional Korean oriental medicine. However, it is the first theoretical attempt to the clinical research and scientific methodology of Ohaeng(Five) Hwa Chim, and more active Hwa Acupuncture R&D is being conducted nationwide.
