해저 석유개발을 위한 해양구조물의 기본 설계/해석 및 실험기법 개발 -해양구조물에 작용하는 파랑하중 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determination of Wave Load Acting on Offshore Structures)

  • In this paper various methods of determining of wave loads acting ofshore structures including impact load due to breaking wave are studied and corresponding model test was performed. In the theoretical approach wave load by nonbreaking wave and impact load by breaking wave is determined by Morrison's equation Goda's equation and impact wave equation, In the experimental approach wave load by nonbreaking wave acting on cylindrical pile used in offshore structures is determined by measuring the strain on a cylindrical pile and compared with theoretical calue. in the numerical approach impact load by breaking wave acting on a modeled cylindrical pile is calculated by usign ANSYS FEM program and compared with theoretical value. It is found that the experimental and numerical results are comparable to theoretical results, Thus the determination of wave load acting on offshore structures can be obtained by a proposed methods and it acceptable.

Linking bilinear traction law parameters to cohesive zone length for laminated composites and bonded joints

  • A theoretical exploration for determining the characteristic length of the cohesive zone for a double cantilever beam (DCB) specimen under mode I loading was conducted. Two traction-separation laws were studied: (i) a law with only a linear elastic stage from zero to full traction strength; and (ii) a bilinear traction law illustrating a progressive softening stage. Two analytical solutions were derived for the first law, which fit well into two existing solution groups. A transcendental equation was derived for the bilinear traction law, and a graphical method was presented to identify the resultant cohesive zone length. The study using the bilinear traction law enabled the theoretical investigation of the individual effects of cohesive law parameters (i.e., strength, stiffness, and fracture energy) on the cohesive zone length. Correlations between the theoretical and finite element (FE) results were assessed. Effects of traction law parameters on the cohesive zone length were discussed.

  • The object of this study is to determine theoretical ship form which minimises wave making resistance under given conditions and developes theoretical ship form planing. By employing the streamline tracing method 1967's Korean Standard Ship Form of 10,000 G.T. linear has been reformed and tested at towing tank of Inha Institute of Technology. The design process and the reformed ship forms had been reported already in reference[4]. In this paper, resistance performance is experimentally observed with three models(original, theoretical, and reformed form) of 2m long in the towing tank, and total resistance of theoretical and reformed ship forms are decreased by 24.9% and 19.7% and wave making resistance by 66.4% and 47.7% compare to original ship form respectively.

2.5 Inch HDD Spindle Vibration with a Flexible Base Plate

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of the flexibility of HDD base plates on spindle vibration via theoretical predictions and experimental measurements. The flexibility of the base plate can significantly affect HDD spindle vibration. This is the most prominent feature in 2.5 inch HDD. Nevertheless, theoretical analysis of the spindle vibration often neglects the flexibility of the non-rotating part including spindle, base plate, and top cover. Our theoretical model developed in University of Washington can include the flexibilities of spindle and base plate. As a result, our theoretical prediction generally agrees well with our experimental measurements in vibration analysis. Moreover, because of its small form factor, industrial practice is to use flanged disks instead of regular disks in vibration testing of prototypes. Our experimental measurements indicate that flanged disks and regular disks have very different behavior when the frequency is above 1 KHz.

A Theoretical Study on Vibrational Predissociation Rates of Ne-$I_2$

  • A new theoretical method, named the SCF-DWB-IOS approximation, is suggested to investigate the vibrational predissociation of triatomic van der Waals complexes. The meta stable vibrational excited states are described with SCF (self-consistent-field) approximation and the fragmented diatomic continuum states are determined by using IOS (infinite order sudden) approximation. The dissociation process itself is studied by using DWB (distorted wave Born) approximation. As a test case, the predissociation rates, rotational state distributions of products, and the lifetimes of vibrationally excited states of $Ne-I_2$ are all computed which are in reasonable agreements with other theoretical and/or experimental results. The suggested SCF-DWB-IOS approximation scheme is found to be a very simple but efficient theoretical tool to investigate the vibrational predissociation dynamics of small van der Waals complexes.

이론통계학 교육에서 수학 소프트웨어의 활용 (Theoretical statistics education using mathematical softwares)

  • 이론통계학은 통계학의 원리를 수학을 이용하여 배우는 교과목이다. 학생들이 수학을 충분히 알지 못하는 경우 이론통계학 교육을 통해 통계학의 원리를 이해하는 데에는 제약이 있다. 이론통계학 교육을 통해 통계학의 원리에 대한 이해를 높이기 위해 수학적 문제풀이 외에 R 프로그램을 이용한 통계 시뮬레이션이 보조적으로 도입되어 왔지만 수학을 이용한 문제풀이를 대신하지는 못하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 wxMaxima, Wolfram Alpha 등 기호 수학 연산이 가능한 수학 소프트웨어 CAS를 소개하고, 이를 이용하여 이론통계학 교육에 걸림돌이 되는 수학의 어려움에서 벗어나 통계학의 원리 자체를 학습할 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다.

  • We proposed a linear type magnetic flux pump (LTMFP) as a power supply for superconducting magnet system. In order to explain the operating mechanism of pumping action, the pumping sequence based on penetrated position and moving speed of magnetic flux on the superconducting Nb foil should be understood. In this paper, we induced a theoretical equation for pumping current of LTMFP according to the position of normal spot and corresponding equivalent circuit. In addition, current charging tendencies under the intensity of magnetic flux and frequency were described based on the theoretical pumping equation.

  • A simplified model of seat-human body is presented to analyze vibrations of human body on a seat of vehicle. The theoretical model having seven degrees-of-freedom is composed of the inter-connected masses, springs and dampers. Until now, evaluation of ride comfort has been usually performed only through vehicle tests. This study aims to complement shortcomings of conventional vehicle tests in evaluation of ride comfort by using the theoretical model. The acceleration values of the human body are obtained from frequency response functions of the theoretical model. Thereafter, Ride and SEAT indexes are acquired by considering response characteristics of the human body for the 12 axes that are presented in BS 6841. A vehicle test is carried out to measure the acceleration values for the three parts of the human body such as upper body, hip and foot. Ride and SEAT indexes of the vehicle test are also obtained by considering the response characteristics of the human body, of which results are compared with the values from the theoretical model. It is found that the theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results.
