Background and objective: This study was conducted to examine the effects of the theme-based garden book (photo book) making integration program on social skills and self-determination of college students with developmental disabilities. Methods: We analyzed the changes in social skills and self-determination of college students with developmental disabilities. The first step was defining the theme-based garden book (photo book) making integration program, which was done by focus group interviews (FGI) comprised of specialists in the industry and academia. The second step was carrying out 8 sessions of the program. The third step was examining the effects of the program on social skills and self-determination of college students with developmental disabilities. The participants of this study were 36 college students with developmental disabilities attending N University, and 17 students were in the experiment group and the other 19 in the control group. Results: The control group showed no statistically significant changes in the three sub-domains of social skills, while the experimental group showed statistically significant differences across all three sub-domains, such as cooperation(P < .05), assertion(P < .05), and self-control(P < .05). The experimental group, that participated in the program showed statistically significant differences across all four sub-domains of self-determination skills, such as behavior (P < .05), cognition(P < .05), school support(P < .05) and home support(P < .05). This proved that the theme-based garden book (photo book) making program contributed to bringing positive effects to self-determination and social skills. Conclusion: These results suggest that the theme-based garden book (photo book) making integration program could improve self-determination and social skills of college students with developmental disabilities. These positive changes are related to the high level of interest in theme-based garden design programs among college students with developmental disabilities, and thus these programs can be used effectively to improve social adjustment.

The purpose of this study was to establish the concept of theme collection in the library, to clarify the reality of the theme collection operation. This study was to set up methodology for constructing and operating the theme collection in the future and to provide implications for future development. For this purpose, this study conducted in-depth interviews with a total of 12 directors and librarians from four public libraries. The results of the analysis revealed that the theme collection can be built and function properly with a solid understanding of its collection, users and community, and sharing its services goals and orientations. In addition, it was found that the task of constructing a theme collection contributes to the establishment of the identity of the librarian, and it is interrelated with the various library works. Finally, a comprehensive model of current theme collections was discussed.

In recent years, as selling books on the internet becomes popular, the number of off-line bookstores are rapidly dwindling away. This change on the book market requires, the function and space of the bookstores should be defined again. Now bookstores are the places of experiences on cultures, world-views, and lifestyles around books. The study examines six large bookstores and finds three strategies of space expression as follow. First, Dominicanen bookstore in Maastricht which was built as a church has an expression which contrasts the old and the new as well as the sacred and the profane. Fangsuo bookstore in Chengdu creates a modern underground Sutra Depository. Here, people experience history and religion. Second, Cook & Book in Brussels has nine theme areas, each with a different selection of books, different interior decoration and special food and beverage like a theme park. Zhongshu bookshop in Shanghai has a lattice of nine reading rooms in which each unique design theme is characterized based on each book subject. Third, Cultura Bookstore in Sao Paulo is created to support social interchange. It leads people to the enormous plaza of books where people read books freely and participate in workshops, movies and all kinds of events. Daikanyama Tsutaya Books in Tokyo is composed of three white box-form pavilions which are connected by a 55-meter long aisle, called a magazine street. People walk along the street and choose concierge services as they browse magazines and books. The study finds out three strategies of design in current large bookstores to promote place-experience, which are the story-telling of history and culture, the design of theme parks, and openness for public mingling like plazas and streets. Thus, the study suggests a new paradigm in the design of bookstores in this internet age.

The research of combining virtual reality technology with the design elements of children's picture book education is a relatively new topic in virtual reality technology in recent years. Based on the combination of picture book design elements with virtual reality technology and the development of a children's picture book teaching game, this article analyzes the effectiveness of the application of virtual reality technology in children's teaching, and explores the usability of picture book design elements in teaching [1]. Through literature research methods, practical research methods and investigation research methods, this paper lucubrates the application of virtual reality technology in the design elements of children's picture book education so as to provide adequate theoretical and practical support for the research theme. The spatial positioning, vision, sound, and functional requirements of children's picture book games play a leading role in teaching. Practical statistics have proved that it is easier to promote children's mastery of teaching knowledge in a virtual environment. Moreover, use VR's game management function and setting function to solve the boringness of traditional education methods and the limitations of the teaching environment. The feasibility of game operation provides a virtual teaching platform system for children's education, and the teaching effect is remarkable.

Gender sensitivity is a concept needs to be substantially count since early childhood when a child starts understanding and developing their gender role. As such UNESCO published the guideline on Comprehensive Sexuality Education(CSE) guidelines. In Korea, the Ministry of Women and Family selected the book called 'Nadaum children's book' in order to support children to better develop the gender sensitivity in their early childhood. This study aims for qualitative research on 101 books for low-grade children of Nadaum Children's Books. Content analysis and theme analysis were conducted based on UNESCO's CSE guidelines. This is to analyze the frequency rate of the CSE concepts and how the value of gender sensitivity is described throughout the books. The results shows that 'family member' and 'value of tolerance' were most frequently appeared while 'puberty' and 'sex and health' were not included. In addition, the results of theme analysis showed that this book well described the activities pursuing the value of gender sensitivity as well as process of being materialized it.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the theme collection service in public library from the user's perspective. To this end, based on prior research, the effect elements of the theme collection were derived from the service use, librarian, and library level. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 294 users of A public library. The collection satisfaction of users who know the theme collection was higher than those who did not, and showed high recognition for the satisfaction with the use of new and unexpected books. In addition, it was found that the positive recognition tended to be high among users who have been using the library for a long time and frequently use the library service. Based on the users' perception and evaluation of the theme collection, the direction of development of the theme collection service was suggested in terms of collection development, collection use and information service, user-centered classification, and awareness improvement of libraries and librarians.

It is an after-school material for elementary school student based on STEAM education which has a theme of water pollution as a global issue. First of all, we take a look at various ways of measuring water pollution and among them, we include experiment for student to know about the water pollution by using indicator organisms. This study aims to analyze and compare the difference of preference to realistic and fantastic expressions presented in the illustrations of children's picture books. The subject of this study is set for 52 seven-year-old kindergarten students, including 26 boys and 26 girls, in Cheonan. Two times of researches on their preferences were made on the basis of data collection through individual interviews and self-regulatory questionnaires. A children's picture book, which best demonstrates both realistic and fantastic expressions, was selected as a research tool for such questionnaire from the ones produced and printed within Korea, which either are listed in the Recommended Book List of Children's Book Research Association or received any international award. The result shows that both boys and girls prefer fantastic expressions to realistic ones. It was also found that girls tend to prefer realistic expressions that the boys do. Nevertheless, there definitely was a limitation in thorough analysis by region or age, as they tended to show different responses when they were provided with a picture book with similar theme and story, but different form of expression.

In nursing, a practice discipline, it has been argued whether the mastery of clinical competence depends on types of learning styles, learning experience, and the use of specialized skills. All these problems are not limited to nursing education. Later educators identified the importance of reflective learning which is a vital element in any form of learning and that teachers and students need to consider how they can incorporate some forms of reflection in the courses. The purpose of this study is to review educational articles for understanding better what reflection in learning is, to identify the theme which is of important relevance to professional practice, from the book, Educating the reflective practitioner, and to discuss the theme within nursing education. Reflection in learning was defined by Dewey(1933) as the process which is involved the perception of relationships and connections between the parts of an experience. This experience is passed on when two people becoming involved with each other in a conversation. schon(1987) emphasized that learning conversation, which is a part of the interaction of student and teacher, is an important factor of the process of reflection-om-actopm. In clinical nursing education, good relationships between teacher and student, faculty's role, interpersonal skills are critical in learning conversation. Then Practing nurses who accept the need to choose nursing actionss on the basis of reflection, who accepet the necessity for understanding and being able to communicate the reasons for action are a powerfful force for the development of nursing into an increasingly more effective profession for the benefit of patients.
