  • 본 실험은 재식밀도와 재식양식이 Sorghum-Sudangrass hybrid(sordan 79)의 생육특성, 건물수량, 조단백질수량, 기호성 등에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 실시하였으며 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.1. 재식밀도가 높아짐에 따라 초장, 엽장, 엽폭(P<0.05), 엽수는 대체적으로 감소하였고, 같은 재식밀도에 있어서는 직사각형구에서 증가하였다.2. 1차 예취시 엽비솔은 밀식구중 직사각형구(30kg/ha, 25cm$\times$4cm)에서 가장 높게 나타났으나 2차 예취시에는 중식구중 정사각형구(15kg/ha, 14cm $\times$14cm)에서 높게 나타났다.3. 고사솔은 재식밀도가 증가될수록 높아졌으며 또한 같은 재식밀도라도 정사각형구가 높았다. 4. 분벽수는 재식밀도가 높아질수록 감소 되었고 같은 재식밀도에서는 직사각형구에서 증가되는 경향이었다. 5. 생초수량과 건물수량은 공히 중식구중 직사각형구(1.5kg/ha, 33cm$\times$6cm)가 가장 높았으며 소식구에서 가장 낮았다. 6. 조단백질 량은 재식밀도가 높아짐에 따라 높은경향을 나타냈으며(P<0.05) 조단백질수량도 재식밀도가 높아질수록 수되었다.7. 경의 굵기는 재식밀도가 높아짐에 따라 가늘어졌고 NDF, ADF함량은 뚜렷한 경향이 없었다. 1차 예취시에 있어서 기호성은 밀식구>중식구>소식구순이었으나 2차 예취시에는 밀식구>소식구>중식구순이었다.식구순이었다.

전자공여작용과 관능적 특성을 고려한 산국(山菊) 에탄올 추출물의 제조조건 최적화 (Optimization for Electron Donating Ability and Organoleptic Properties of Ethanol Extracts from Chrysanthemum Petals)

  • 반응표면분석에 의하여 야생국인 산국 꽃잎의 추출조건에 따른 추출물의 전자공여작용 및 관능적 특성을 모니터링하고 에탄올 추출조건을 최적화하였다. 중심합성 실험계획에서 시료에 대한 용매비$(X_1)$, 에탄올 농도$(X_2)$, 추출시간$(X_3)$을 요인변수로 하고 추출물의 품질 즉, 전자공여작용$(Y_1)$, 관능적 색상$(Y_2)$ 및 관능적 향$(Y_3)$을 각각 종속변수로 하여 $60^{\circ}C$에서 추출을 실시하였다. 조건별 실험 결과는 회귀분석하여 4차원 반응표면으로 나타내었다. 종속변수들에 대한 결정계수$(R^2)$$0.8180{\sim}0.9696$ 범위로 나타났다. 산국의 에탄올 추출물의 전자공여 작용은 50 mL/g, 61%, 16 hr에서, 관능적 색상은 88 mL/g, 21%, 16 hr에서 그리고 관능적 향은 55 mL/g, 73%, 19 hr의 조건에서 추출물의 특성이 가장 높은 값으로 예측되었다. 산국의 에탄올 추출물에서 전자공여작용과 관능적 품질을 고려한 최적 추출조건 범위는 시료에 대한 용매비 $65{\sim}78\;mL/g$, 에탄올 농도 $90{\sim}100%$, 추출시간 $15{\sim}25\;hr$으로 나타났다. 예측된 조건에서 얻어진 추출물의 예측값들은 실제 측정값과 유사한 것으로 확인되었다.

공업계열 전문계고등학교 '디지털 논리 회로' 수업에서 PSpice를 이용한 수업의 효과 (The Effect of the Instruction Using PSpice Simulation in 'Digital Logic Circuit' Subject at Industrial High School)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공업계열 전문계고등학교의 디지털 논리 회로 과목에서 '조합 논리 회로'단원에 시뮬레이션 수업을 적용하여 학생들의 디지털 논리회로에 대한 학업성취도에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 데 있다. 이 연구를 위해 경상북도에 소재한 공업계열 전문계고등학교 3학년 2개 학급을 실험 집단과 통제 집단으로 선정하였고, 3개의 영가설을 설정하여 검증하였다. 실험 설계는 이질통제집단 전후검사 설계를 사용하였다. 실험은 총 6차시에 걸쳐 이루어 졌으며, 실험 집단에는 PSpice 시뮬레이션 수업을 적용한 후 브레드보드를 이용한 실습을 실시하였고, 통제 집단에는 전통적인 강의식 수업을 적용한 후 브레드보드를 이용한 실습을 실시하였다. 자료의 통계 처리는 SPSSWIN (ver 10.0) 프로그램을 사용하였고, 두 집단의 평균 차이가 통계적으로 유의미한지 알아보기 위해 유의수준 .05로 설정하여 독립표본 t-검증을 하였다. 이 연구에서 얻어진 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시뮬레이션 수업은 집단 유형에 따른 학업성취 전체 영역에 대해서는 효과적인 수업 방법이라고 할 수 없다. 그러나 심동적 영역에서는 학업 성취도 향상에 효과적이었다. 둘째, 시뮬레이션 수업은 학업 수준에 따른 학업성취 전체 영역에 대해서는 효과적인 수업 방법이라고 할 수 없다. 그러나 인지적 영역과 심동적 영역에서는 중 하위 집단에, 정의적 영역에서는 하위 집단에 효과적이었다. 셋째, 시뮬레이션 수업은 실습 소요 시간의 단축에 효과적인 수업 방법이라고 할 수 없다. 그러나 하위 집단의 실습 소요 시간의 단축에는 효과적이었다. 이상의 연구 결과 시뮬레이션 수업은 주로 심동적 영역에서 효과적이었고, 상위 집단보다는 하위 집단으로 갈수록 학업 성취에 있어서 효과적이라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 다양한 교수 학습 방법을 활용함으로써 학습 효과를 높일 수 있다는 점을 시사해 준다.

Perceptional Change of a New Product, DMB Phone

  • Digital Convergence means integration between industry, technology, and contents, and in marketing, it usually comes with creation of new types of product and service under the base of digital technology as digitalization progress in electro-communication industries including telecommunication, home appliance, and computer industries. One can see digital convergence not only in instruments such as PC, AV appliances, cellular phone, but also in contents, network, service that are required in production, modification, distribution, re-production of information. Convergence in contents started around 1990. Convergence in network and service begins as broadcasting and telecommunication integrates and DMB(digital multimedia broadcasting), born in May, 2005 is the symbolic icon in this trend. There are some positive and negative expectations about DMB. The reason why two opposite expectations exist is that DMB does not come out from customer's need but from technology development. Therefore, customers might have hard time to interpret the real meaning of DMB. Time is quite critical to a high tech product, like DMB because another product with same function from different technology can replace the existing product within short period of time. If DMB does not positioning well to customer's mind quickly, another products like Wibro, IPTV, or HSPDA could replace it before it even spreads out. Therefore, positioning strategy is critical for success of DMB product. To make correct positioning strategy, one needs to understand how consumer interprets DMB and how consumer's interpretation can be changed via communication strategy. In this study, we try to investigate how consumer perceives a new product, like DMB and how AD strategy change consumer's perception. More specifically, the paper segment consumers into sub-groups based on their DMB perceptions and compare their characteristics in order to understand how they perceive DMB. And, expose them different printed ADs that have messages guiding consumer think DMB in specific ways, either cellular phone or personal TV. Research Question 1: Segment consumers according to perceptions about DMB and compare characteristics of segmentations. Research Question 2: Compare perceptions about DMB after AD that induces categorization of DMB in direction for each segment. If one understand and predict a direction in which consumer perceive a new product, firm can select target customers easily. We segment consumers according to their perception and analyze characteristics in order to find some variables that can influence perceptions, like prior experience, usage, or habit. And then, marketing people can use this variables to identify target customers and predict their perceptions. If one knows how customer's perception is changed via AD message, communication strategy could be constructed properly. Specially, information from segmented customers helps to develop efficient AD strategy for segment who has prior perception. Research framework consists of two measurements and one treatment, O1 X O2. First observation is for collecting information about consumer's perception and their characteristics. Based on first observation, the paper segment consumers into two groups, one group perceives DMB similar to Cellular phone and the other group perceives DMB similar to TV. And compare characteristics of two segments in order to find reason why they perceive DMB differently. Next, we expose two kinds of AD to subjects. One AD describes DMB as Cellular phone and the other Ad describes DMB as personal TV. When two ADs are exposed to subjects, consumers don't know their prior perception of DMB, in other words, which subject belongs 'similar-to-Cellular phone' segment or 'similar-to-TV' segment? However, we analyze the AD's effect differently for each segment. In research design, final observation is for investigating AD effect. Perception before AD is compared with perception after AD. Comparisons are made for each segment and for each AD. For the segment who perceives DMB similar to TV, AD that describes DMB as cellular phone could change the prior perception. And AD that describes DMB as personal TV, could enforce the prior perception. For data collection, subjects are selected from undergraduate students because they have basic knowledge about most digital equipments and have open attitude about a new product and media. Total number of subjects is 240. In order to measure perception about DMB, we use indirect measurement, comparison with other similar digital products. To select similar digital products, we pre-survey students and then finally select PDA, Car-TV, Cellular Phone, MP3 player, TV, and PSP. Quasi experiment is done at several classes under instructor's allowance. After brief introduction, prior knowledge, awareness, and usage about DMB as well as other digital instruments is asked and their similarities and perceived characteristics are measured. And then, two kinds of manipulated color-printed AD are distributed and similarities and perceived characteristics for DMB are re-measured. Finally purchase intension, AD attitude, manipulation check, and demographic variables are asked. Subjects are given small gift for participation. Stimuli are color-printed advertising. Their actual size is A4 and made after several pre-test from AD professionals and students. As results, consumers are segmented into two subgroups based on their perceptions of DMB. Similarity measure between DMB and cellular phone and similarity measure between DMB and TV are used to classify consumers. If subject whose first measure is less than the second measure, she is classified into segment A and segment A is characterized as they perceive DMB like TV. Otherwise, they are classified as segment B, who perceives DMB like cellular phone. Discriminant analysis on these groups with their characteristics of usage and attitude shows that Segment A knows much about DMB and uses a lot of digital instrument. Segment B, who thinks DMB as cellular phone doesn't know well about DMB and not familiar with other digital instruments. So, consumers with higher knowledge perceive DMB similar to TV because launching DMB advertising lead consumer think DMB as TV. Consumers with less interest on digital products don't know well about DMB AD and then think DMB as cellular phone. In order to investigate perceptions of DMB as well as other digital instruments, we apply Proxscal analysis, Multidimensional Scaling technique at SPSS statistical package. At first step, subjects are presented 21 pairs of 7 digital instruments and evaluate similarity judgments on 7 point scale. And for each segment, their similarity judgments are averaged and similarity matrix is made. Secondly, Proxscal analysis of segment A and B are done. At third stage, get similarity judgment between DMB and other digital instruments after AD exposure. Lastly, similarity judgments of group A-1, A-2, B-1, and B-2 are named as 'after DMB' and put them into matrix made at the first stage. Then apply Proxscal analysis on these matrixes and check the positional difference of DMB and after DMB. The results show that map of segment A, who perceives DMB similar as TV, shows that DMB position closer to TV than to Cellular phone as expected. Map of segment B, who perceive DMB similar as cellular phone shows that DMB position closer to Cellular phone than to TV as expected. Stress value and R-square is acceptable. And, change results after stimuli, manipulated Advertising show that AD makes DMB perception bent toward Cellular phone when Cellular phone-like AD is exposed, and that DMB positioning move towards Car-TV which is more personalized one when TV-like AD is exposed. It is true for both segment, A and B, consistently. Furthermore, the paper apply correspondence analysis to the same data and find almost the same results. The paper answers two main research questions. The first one is that perception about a new product is made mainly from prior experience. And the second one is that AD is effective in changing and enforcing perception. In addition to above, we extend perception change to purchase intention. Purchase intention is high when AD enforces original perception. AD that shows DMB like TV makes worst intention. This paper has limitations and issues to be pursed in near future. Methodologically, current methodology can't provide statistical test on the perceptual change, since classical MDS models, like Proxscal and correspondence analysis are not probability models. So, a new probability MDS model for testing hypothesis about configuration needs to be developed. Next, advertising message needs to be developed more rigorously from theoretical and managerial perspective. Also experimental procedure could be improved for more realistic data collection. For example, web-based experiment and real product stimuli and multimedia presentation could be employed. Or, one can display products together in simulated shop. In addition, demand and social desirability threats of internal validity could influence on the results. In order to handle the threats, results of the model-intended advertising and other "pseudo" advertising could be compared. Furthermore, one can try various level of innovativeness in order to check whether it make any different results (cf. Moon 2006). In addition, if one can create hypothetical product that is really innovative and new for research, it helps to make a vacant impression status and then to study how to form impression in more rigorous way.

이진 분류문제에서의 딥러닝 알고리즘의 활용 가능성 평가 (Feasibility of Deep Learning Algorithms for Binary Classification Problems)

  • 최근 알파고의 등장으로 딥러닝 기술에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 딥러닝은 향후 미래의 핵심 기술이 되어 일상생활의 많은 부분을 개선할 것이라는 기대를 받고 있지만, 주요한 성과들이 이미지 인식과 자연어처리 등에 국한되어 있고 전통적인 비즈니스 애널리틱스 문제에의 활용은 미비한 실정이다. 실제로 딥러닝 기술은 Convolutional Neural Network(CNN), Recurrent Neural Network(RNN), Deep Boltzmann Machine (DBM) 등 알고리즘들의 선택, Dropout 기법의 활용여부, 활성 함수의 선정 등 다양한 네트워크 설계 이슈들을 가지고 있다. 따라서 비즈니스 문제에서의 딥러닝 알고리즘 활용은 아직 탐구가 필요한 영역으로 남아있으며, 특히 딥러닝을 현실에 적용했을 때 발생할 수 있는 여러 가지 문제들은 미지수이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 다이렉트 마케팅 응답모델, 고객이탈분석, 대출 위험 분석 등의 주요한 분류 문제인 이진분류에 딥러닝을 적용할 수 있을 것인지 그 가능성을 실험을 통해 확인하였다. 실험에는 어느 포르투갈 은행의 텔레마케팅 응답여부에 대한 데이터 집합을 사용하였으며, 전통적인 인공신경망인 Multi-Layer Perceptron, 딥러닝 알고리즘인 CNN과 RNN을 변형한 Long Short-Term Memory, 딥러닝 모형에 많이 활용되는 Dropout 기법 등을 이진 분류 문제에 활용했을 때의 성능을 비교하였다. 실험을 수행한 결과 CNN 알고리즘은 비즈니스 데이터의 이진분류 문제에서도 MLP 모형에 비해 향상된 성능을 보였다. 또한 MLP와 CNN 모두 Dropout을 적용한 모형이 적용하지 않은 모형보다 더 좋은 분류 성능을 보여줌에 따라, Dropout을 적용한 CNN 알고리즘이 이진분류 문제에도 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

질문 강화 수업이 중학생들의 질문 수준과 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Science Question Enhancement Instruction on the Science Question Level and Achievement of Middle School Students)

  • 질문은 학생들에게 문제의 탐색과 의사소통, 지식의 구조화를 통해서 문제해결이 가능하도록 하므로, 과학 교육에서 큰 의미를 가진다. 또한 학생 질문은 사고와 학습 사이를 연결해 준다는 점에서도 중요한 의미를 가진다. 그러나 학생의 질문에 대해서 분석하고 연구한 연구는 그렇게 많지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 질문 수준 강화 수업이 전통적인 수업에 비해 학생들의 질문 수준과 학업 성취도에 어떤 효과가 있는지 알아보았다. 또한 논리적 사고력, 과학 성적, 흥미, 성별과 같은 여러 변인들이 학생의 질문 수준에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 알아보았다. 연구 대상은 중학교 2학년 학생 182명으로, 통제집단은 전통적인 수업을 하였고, 실헙집단은 질문 수준 강화 수업을 하였다. 연구단원은 중학교 과학 2 "식물의 구조와 기능"으로 약 7주 동안 15차시에 걸쳐 수업 처치를 하였다. 학생들의 논리적 사고력 수준을 파악하기 위하여 GALT 축소본 검사지를 사용하였고 학업 성취도 검사는 17문항의 오지선다형문항을 개발하여 사용하였다. 질문 수준에 대한 여러 변인(수업방법, 과학 성적, 논리적 사고력, 흥미, 성별)의 효과를 분석하기 위해 오원 분산분석(ANOVA), 공변량 분석(ANCOVA), 다중회귀분석(Multiple regression analysis)을 하였다. 학생들의 질문 수준을 분석해 본 결과, 질문 강화 수업이 전통적인 수업에 비해 학생들의 질문 수준을 향상시키는데 효과적이었다(p< .01). 학생의 질문 수준과 상관 관계가 가장 높은 것은 수업 방법(r= .640)이었으며, 질문 수준은 과학 성적(r= .311)과 논리적 사고력(r= .212)에도 상관이 있었다. 그러나 질문 수준은 흥미와 성별에는 상관이 거의 없었다. 질문 강화 수업은 학생들의 학업 성취도를 향상시키는데 전통적인 학습보다 효과적이었다(p< .01). 따라서 질문 강화 수업은 학생들의 질문 수준뿐만 아니라 학업 성취도에도 높은 효과를 나타내었으므로 바람직한 수업방법이라고 생각된다.

비부착 압축 프리스트레싱을 도입한 중공박스 거더의 거동 (Behavior of Hollow Box Girder Using Unbonded Compressive Pre-stressing)

  • 일반적으로 PSC 거더 교량은 철근 콘크리트 부재와 달리 전단면을 사용하여 외부하중을 저항한다. 또한 설계와 시공의 용이성, 구조적 안전성, 경제성, 유지관리의 편리성 등의 장점 때문에 30 m 이하의 중/소 경간 교량에 많이 적용되고 있다. 그러나, 최근 전세계적으로 환경, 미관 등에 관심이 높아짐에 따라, 교량의 경간은 점점 길어지는 추세이다. 이러한 추세는 케이블 교량뿐만 아니라 PSC 교량에서도 나타난다. 본 연구는 시대적 흐름에 맞춰 PSC 거더를 50 m 이상의 장경간에 적용하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 상부에 H형 강재가 도입된 중공 박스 합성거더를 개발하였다. 개발된 거더는 타설 전 상부에 H형 강재에 미리 비부착 압축 프리스트레스를 주어 거더의 성능저하 시 프리스트레스력을 제거하여 성능을 회복시키는 방법이다. 개발된 거더는 실제 교량에 사용하기위한 필수적인 정적실험을 3점 재하로 4단계로 구분하여 수행하였다. 1차 하중은 균열발생시점까지로 하였으며, 하중 제거 후 미리 상부강재에 도입된 프리스트레스력을 제거하여 거더의 성능회복력을 확인하였다. 그 후, 거더가 파괴될 때까지 하중을 재하하였다. 실험 결과, 18.7 mm의 잔류변형이 발생하였으나, 상부 강재의 PS 제거에 의해 7.7 mm로 회복되었다. 즉, 상부 H형 강재에 도입된 비부착 압축프리스트레스의 제거에 의한 거더 하연의 추가 압축응력으로 하중 증가에 따른 잔류변형을 약 60%가량 회복시키는 성능향상을 보였다. 상부에 H형 강재를 시공함으로써 추후 보수보강을 용이하게 할 수 있고, 비용도 절감할 수 있다.

  • 재배국인 소국의 꽃잎을 이용하여 우수한 품질특성의 에탄올추출물을 얻고자 반응표면분석에 의해 추출조건을 최적화 하였다. 중심합성계획에 따라 시료에 대한 용매비$(X_1)$, 에탄올 농도$(X_2)$, 추출시간$(X_3)$을 요인변수로 하고 추출물의 특성 즉, 황색도$(Y_1)$, 카로티노이드 함량$(Y_2)$, 가용성고형분$(Y_3)$, 페놀성 화합물 함량$(Y_4)$, 전자공여능$(Y_5)$, 관능적 색과 향$(Y_6,\;Y_7)$을 각각 종속변수로 하여 $60^{\circ}C$에서 추출을 실시하였다. 각 조건별 실험결과를 회귀분석하여 3차원 반응표면분석을 실시하여 본 결과, 종속변수들에 대한 결정계수$(R^2)$$0.8223{\sim}0.9965$ 범위로 나타났다. 추출물의 기능적 특성들을 극대화하기 위한 최적추출조건은 황색도가 시료에 대한 용매비 115 mL/g, 에탄올 농도 97%, 추출시간 18 hr, 카로티노이드 함량 145 mL/g, 50%, 12 hr, 가용성고형분 147 mL/g, 48%, 17 hr, 페놀성 화합물 함량 116 mL/g, 68%, 17 hr, 전자공여작용 110 mL/g, 98%, 14 hr, 관능적 색은 101 mL/g, 48%, 54 hr에서, 향은 109 mL/g, 54% 및 4 hr 조건일 때 최대값을 나타내었다. 추출물의 여러 기능적 특성을 고려한 추출조건 범위를 최적화 해 본 결과 시료에 대한 용매비 $103{\sim}122\;(mL/g)$, 에탄올 농도 $64{\sim}78\;(%)$, 추출시간 16 (hr)로 나타났다. 최적조건에서 얻어진 에탄올 추출물의 예측값들은 실제 측정값과 유사한 수준으로 확인되었다.

High Resolution HC$_3$N Observations toward the Central Region of Sagittarius B2

  • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70${\pm}$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32${\pm}$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The CF 15-11 HFDs which failed APD test did not show changes in the UFR compared to normal dialyzers indicating that APD is a more sensitive test than UFR test to evaluate the integrity of the fibers. 30527 T00401030527 ^x For quantitative measurement of reflected light from a clinical diagnostic strip, a prototype old reflectance photometer was designed. Mice from both groups were irradialed for approximately 15 minutes at 100,300, or 500 mW/cm2 with the argon (488nm/514.5 nm), dye(628nm) and gold vapor (pulsed 628 nm) laser light. A photosensitizer behaved as an added absorber. Under our experimental conditions, the presence of Photolfrin II increased surface temperature by at least 40% and the temperature rise due to 300 mW/cm2 irradiation exceeded values for hyperthermia. Light and temperature distributions with depth were estimated by a computer model. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. In this paper, a new method to detect nonlinear propagation characteristics of the internal vibration in the tissue for the low frequency mechanical vibration by using bispectral analysis is proposed. In the method, low frequency vibration of f0( = 100Hz) is applied on the surface of the object, and the waveform of the internal vibration x (t) is measured from Doppler frequency modulation of silmultaneously transmitted probing ultrasonic waves. Then, the bispectra of the signal x (t) at the frequencies (f0, f0) and (f0, 2f0) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, w here since bispectrum is free from the gaussian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Basic experimental system is constructed by using 3.0 MHz probing ultrasonic waves and the several experiments are carried out for some phantoms. The operating system and database management system were SCO UNIX and SCO foxbase, respectively. For program development, we used Xbase language provided by SCO foxbase. The C language was used for interface purpose. To make the system use friendly, pull-down menu was used. The system connected to our hospital information system via application program interface (API), so the information related to patient and request details is automatically transmitted to our computer. Our system interfaced with fwd complete blood count analyzers(Sysmex NE-8000 and Coulter STKS) for unidirectional data tansmission from analyzer to computer. Because the point of maximun temperature of laser-irradiated gelatin exists below the surface due to surface cooling, evaporation at the boiling temperature is made explosively from below the surface. The important parameters of this process are the conduction loss to laser power absorption (defined as the conduction-to-laser power parameter, Nk), the convection heat transfer at the surface to conduction loss (defined as Bi), dimensionless extinction coefficient (defined as Br.), and dimensionless irradiation time (defined as Fo). Dependence of Fo on Nk and Bi has been observed by experiment, and the results have been compared with the numerical results obtained by solving a 2-dimensional conduction equation. Fo and explosion depth (from the surface to the point of maximun temperature) are increased when Nk and Bi are increased.To find out the minimum laser power for explosive evaporative removal process, steady state analysis has been also made. Optimal stimulus parameters, which can minimize muscle fatigue and can achieve effective muscle contraction were determined in slow and fast muscles in Sprague-Dawley rats. Stimulus patterns of our stimulator were designed to simulate electromyographic activity monitored during locomotion of normal subjects. Muscle types of the lower extremity were classified according to their mechanical property of contraction, which are slow muscle (msoleus m.) and fast muscle (medial gastrocneminus m., rectus femoris m., vastus lateralis m.). Optimal parameters of electrical stimulation for slow muscles were 20 Hz, 0.2 ms square pulse. For fast muscle, 40 Hz, 0.3 ms square pulse was optimal to produce repeated contraction. Higher stimulus intensity was required when synergistic muscles were stimulated simultaneously than when they were stimulated individually. Electrical stimulation for each muscle was designed to generate bipedal locomotion, so that individual muscles alternate contraction and relaxation to simulate stance and swing phases. Portable electrical stimulator with 16 channels built in microprocessor was constructed and applied to paraplegic patients due to lumbar cord injury.
