Sensor Fault Detection, Localization, and System Reconfiguration with a Sliding Mode Observer and Adaptive Threshold of PMSM

  • This study deals with an on-line software fault detection, localization, and system reconfiguration method for electrical system drives composed of three-phase AC/DC/AC converters and three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drives. Current sensor failure (outage), speed/position sensor loss (disconnection), and damaged DC-link voltage sensor are considered faults. The occurrence of these faults in PMSM drive systems degrades system performance and affects the safety, maintenance, and service continuity of the electrical system drives. The proposed method is based on the monitoring signals of "abc" currents, DC-link voltage, and rotor speed/position using a measurement chain. The listed signals are analyzed and evaluated with the generated residuals and threshold values obtained from a Sliding Mode Current-Speed-DC-link Voltage Observer (SMCSVO) to acquire an on-line fault decision. The novelty of the method is the faults diagnosis algorithm that combines the use of SMCSVO and adaptive thresholds; thus, the number of false alarms is reduced, and the reliability and robustness of the fault detection system are guaranteed. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm's performance is experimentally analyzed and tested in real time using a dSPACE DS 1104 digital signal processor board.

  • In this paper, we investigated the operational characteristics of the fault current limiting in the The flux-lock type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter. The flux-lock type high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter was consisted of primary and secondary copper coils that flux was locked on iron core and YBCO thin film. The operational characteristic of a flux-lock type SFCL dependent on winding direction of coil 1 and coil 2, and the number of turns of coil 1 and coil 2, inductances of the coils, saturation in iron core, the properties of superconducting element etc. In this cases, we investigated the fault currents limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL when winding direction of coil 1 and coil 2 was subtractive polarity winding.

Acceleration of Simulated Fault Injection Using a Checkpoint Forwarding Technique

  • Simulated fault injection (SFI) is widely used to assess the effectiveness of fault tolerance mechanisms in safety-critical embedded systems (SCESs) because of its advantages such as controllability and observability. However, the long test time of SFI due to the large number of test cases and the complex simulation models of modern SCESs has been identified as a limiting factor. We present a method that can accelerate an SFI tool using a checkpoint forwarding (CF) technique. To evaluate the performance of CF-based SFI (CF-SFI), we have developed a CF mechanism using Verilog fault-injection tools and two systems under test (SUT): a single-core-based co-simulation model and a triple modular redundant co-simulation model. Both systems use the Verilog simulation model of the OpenRISC 1200 processor and can execute the embedded benchmarks from MiBench. We investigate the effectiveness of the CF mechanism and evaluate the two SUTs by measuring the test time as well as the failure rates. Compared to the SFI with no CF mechanism, the proposed CF-SFI approach reduces the test time of the two SUTs by 29%-45%.

A software reliability model with a Burr Type III fault detection rate function

  • We are enjoying a very comfortable life thanks to modern civilization, however, comfort is not guaranteed to us. Development of software system is a difficult and complex process. Therefore, the main focus of software development is on improving the reliability and stability of a software system. We have become aware of the importance of developing software reliability models and have begun to develop software reliability models. NHPP software reliability models have been developed through the fault intensity rate function and the mean value functions within a controlled testing environment to estimate reliability metrics such as the number of residual faults, failure rate, and reliability of the software. In this paper, we present a new NHPP software reliability model with Burr Type III fault detection rate, and present the goodness-of-fit of the fault detection rate software reliability model and other NHPP models based on two datasets of software testing data. The results show that the proposed model fits significantly better than other NHPP software reliability models.

  • NPC 인버터는 많은 수의 전력용 반도체 소자로 구성되어 있으므로 다른 고장의 유형보다 전력용 반도체 스위치의 고장 발생 가능성이 더욱 크다. 고장발생시에 시스템의 연속적인 운전을 위한 대책의 개발은 매우 필요하며, 이러한 고장은 제안된 방법을 이용함으로써 시스템의 고장 허용 능력을 향상할 수 있다. 제안된 방법은 하나의 전력용 반도체 고장발생시 고장난 전력용 반도체가 포함된 고장상을 직렬 연결된 커패시터의 접속점에 연결한 후 나머지 두상을 이용하여 제어함으로써 직류-링크 전압을 유지하고, 일정한 크기를 가지는 출력 부하상전류를 연속적으로 시스템에 공급할 수 있다. 제안된 방법은 몇가지 특별한 분야에서 값비싼 다른 대안책들보다 더 경제적인 대안이다.

  • 비접지 배전계통에서 전체고장의 약 70%를 차지하는 지락고장 발생시에는 지락전류가 작아 검출이 어렵지만 고장상태로 전원 공급을 지속할 경우 사고 파급 및 기기 소손을 유발할 가능성이 있기 때문에 지락고장 처리는 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 GPT(접지형 계기용 변압기, Ground Potential Transformer)에서 감지하는 영상전압 신호를 이용하여 고장선로를 검출하고, 비상시 연계선로를 이용하여 정전구역을 복구하기 위해 평상시 개폐기가 열려 있는 상태로 배전선로 사이를 연결하는 상시개방점을 이동하며 각 구간을 차례로 분리하면서 GPT 신호의 사라짐 여부를 감시하여 고장구간을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 고장구간 탐색 시 전체 정전이 없고, 고장구간 검출과 건전구간 복구가 동시에 가능하며 다양한 형태의 배전계통 구성에 적용 가능하다는 점에서 효율적이다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 고장처리 방법을 프로그램으로 개발하여 베트남 배전자동화 시범사업에 적용함으로써 알고리즘 및 프로그램의 적정성을 검증하였다.

도시가스 배관망의 고장 탐지 및 진단을 위한 다중블록 PCA 적용 연구 (Multi-block PCA for Sensor Fault Detection and Diagnosis of City Gas Network)

  • 도시가스 배관망은 넓은 지역에 분포되며, 계층적으로 복잡하게 연결되어 있는 것을 특징으로 한다. 넓은 지역에 분포된 배관망의 압력 상태를 정밀하게 감시하기 위하여 PCA 기반의 센서 고장탐지 및 진단 기법을 적용하였다. 도시가스 배관망은 센서의 수가 많기 때문에 상호 연관성이 높은 센서들을 하나의 블록으로 묶어 블록 차원에서 전체 센서를 다루는 다중블록 PCA(MBPCA)가 추천된다. 그런데 MBPCA는 고장센서 식별 성능이 우수한 장점이 있지만, 센서의 개수가 증가할수록 고장탐지 성능이 나빠지는 경우가 많고, 지엽적인 변화에도 모델 전체를 갱신해야 하는 문제점이 있다. 이러한 이유로 모든 센서에 대해 MBPCA를 적용하는 것보다 선택적으로 MBPCA를 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 고장탐지 성능(fault detectability) 지수와 고장진단 성능(fault identificability) 지수를 제안하였으며, 이를 통해 블록별로 MBPCA와 PCA의 성능을 비교할 수 있도록 하였다. 이 지수를 기준으로 MBPCA와 PCA 블록을 구분하여 (주)해양에너지의 도시가스 배관망의 고장 탐지 및 진단 시스템을 개발하였으며, 센서의 개수가 많은 경우에 발생하는 문제점을 해결할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we analyze about voltage sag effect at load side during fault according to change of power system condition. through the case studies, we find that there is no close connection between substation bus transfer and voltage sag during fault. however, we find that other feeder connecting with the faulted transmission is directly affected by fault type and magnitude, therefore, the main subject can be divided into the utility and customer side countermeasures, utilities concentrate their effort to prevent the faults and to modify the fault clearing practice in power system. however, the faults in power system can never be completely eliminated. therefore, customer side solutions usually involve the power conditioning equipment for sensitive loads aiso, we investigate that the several methods to reduce the number and severity of voltage sag and to dull the sensitivity of equipment for voltage sag have developed. moreover, about SEMI, the industry association for the semiconductor two voltage sag immunity standards.(SEMI F47, SEMI F42) The simulation is accomplished by PSS/E 26.

$1{\times}3$ 행렬구조를 갖는 매트릭스형 초전도 한류기의 자장유무에 따른 퀜치특성 분석 (Analysis on the Quench Characteristics According to Magnetic Field of the Matrix-Type SFCL with $1{\times}3$ Matrix Structure)

  • We investigated the quench characteristics accordance with increase of turns and applied voltage of matrix-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with $1{\times}3$ matrixes. The matrix-type SFCL consists of the trigger part to apply magnetic field and the current-limiting part to limit fault current. The fault current limiting characteristics according to the increase of magnetic field and applied voltage were nearly same. This is because the application of magnetic field has not an affect on total impedance of SFCL. When number of turns of reactor increased, the voltage difference between two superconducting units in the current-limiting part according was decreased. The resistance difference generated in two superconducting units also was decreased. Therefore, we confirmed that the differences of critical behaviors between superconducting units by application of magnetic field were decreased. By this results, we could be decided the optimum number of turns of reactor to apply magnetic field.

내고장성 및 동적 재경로선택 SCMP 다단상호접속망에 관한 연구 (A Study on the CSMP Multistage Interconnection Network having Fault Tolerance & Dynamic Reroutability)

  • A mulitpath MIN(Multistage Interconnection Network), CSMP(Chained Shuffle Multi-Path) network, is proposed, having fault-tolerance and dynamic reroutability. The number of stages and the number of links between adjacent stagges are the same as in single path MINs, so the overall hardware complexity is considerably reduced in comparison with other multipath MINs. The CSMP networks feature links between switches belonging to the same state, forming loops of switches. The network can tolerate multiple faults, up to (N/4)*(log$_2$N-1), having occured in any stages including the first and the last ones(N:NO. of input). To analyze reliability, terminal reliability (TR) and mean time to failure( MTTE) age given for the networks, and the TR figures are compared to those of other static and dynamic rerouting multipath MINs. Also the MTTE figures are compared. The performance of the proposed network with respect to its bandwidth (BW) and probability of acceptance(PA) is analyzed and is compared to that of other more complex multipath MINs. The cost efficiency analysis of reliability and performance shows that the network is more cost-effective than other previously proposed fault-tolerant multipath MINs.
