  • Railway wheels in service are regularly checked by ultrasonic testing, acoustic emission and eddy current testing method and so on. However, ultrasonic testing is sometimes inadequate for sensitively detecting the cracks in railway wheel which is mainly because of the fact of crack closure. Recently, many researchers have actively fried to improve precision for defect detection of railway wheel. The development of a nondestructive measurement tool for wheel defects and its use for the maintenance of railway wheels would be useful to prevent wheel failure. The induced current focusing potential drop(ICFPD) technique is a new non-destructive tasting technique that can detect defects in railway wheels by applying on electro-magnetic field and potential drops variation. In the present paper, the ICFPD technique is applied to the detection of surface and internal defects for railway wheels. To defect the defects for railway wheels, the sensor for ICFPD is optimized and the tests are carried out with respect to 4 surface defects and 6 internal defects each other. The results show that the surface crack depth of 0.5 mm and internal crack depth of 0.7 mm in wheel tread could be detected by using this method. The ICFPB method is useful to detect the defect that initiated in the tread of railway wheels

  • Several uncertainties in the landing environment of an aircraft are not considered, such as the falling speed, ambient temperature, and sensor noise. These uncertainties negatively affect the performance of the controller applied to a landing gear. The sliding mode control (SMC) method, which maintains the optimal performance of a controller under uncertainties, is used in this study. The landing gear is equipped with a magnetorheological damper that changes the yield shear stress according to the applied magnetic field. The applied controller employs a hybrid control combining Skyhook control and force control. The SMC maintains the optimal performance of the hybrid control by minimizing the tracking error of the damper force, even in various landing environments where parameter uncertainties are applied. The effect of SMC is verified through co-simulation results from Simscape and Simulink.

  • An analysis of the causes of railroad crossing accidents reveals that most train collision accidents that occur when safety crossing devices are functioning normally occur because vehicles either experience engine failure on the tracks or because drivers were not notified of the coming train, in which case they get trapped on the tracks when the crossing barriers descend. To prevent such an accident, obstacle detection device by using laser beams detecting the presence of obstacle and crossing bar direction controller by moving direction detection sensor using the Earth's magnetic field detection technology are used in the railroad crossing. Despite using the obstacles detector and crossing bar direction controller in the railroad crossing, the equipments for the railroad crossing does not prevent accidents completely. Therefore, this research has studied new method that can detect obstacles through image analyze and alternate existing equipments. There will be excellent effect to be preventing railroad crossing accident by developing a reliable and new obstacle detecting device.

  • The following composition establishes a nonlocal strain gradient plate model that is essentially related to mass sensors laying on Winkler-Pasternak medium for the vibrational analysis from graphene sheets. To achieve a seemingly accurate study of graphene sheets, the posited theorem actually accommodates two parameters of scale in relation to the gradient of the strain as well as non-local results. Model graphene sheets are known to have double variant shear deformation plate theory without factors from shear correction. By using the principle of Hamilton, to acquire the governing equations of a non-local strain gradient graphene layer on an elastic substrate, Galerkin's method is therefore used to explicate the equations that govern various partition conditions. The influence of diverse factors like the magnetic field as well as the elastic foundation on graphene sheet's vibration characteristics, the number of nanoparticles, nonlocal parameter, nanoparticle mass as well as the length scale parameter had been evaluated.

  • In a situation where Moore's law, which states that the performance of semiconductor integrated circuits doubles every two years, is showing a limit from a certain point, and it is difficult to increase the performance due to the limitations of exposure technology. In this study, a wafer hybrid method that can increase the degree of integration Various research on bonding technology is currently in progress. In this study, in order to achieve rotational precision between wafers in wafer hybrid bonding technology, modeling of θz alignment stage and VCM actuator modeling used for rotational alignment, magnetic field analysis and desgin, control, and evaluation are performed. The system of this study was controlled by VCM actuator, capactive sensor, and dspace, and the working range was ±7200 arcsec, and the in-position and resoultion were ±0.01 arcsec. The results of this study confirmed that safety and precise control are possible, and it is expected to be applied to the process to increase the integration.

  • PMSM(permanent magnet synchronous motor) are widely used in industrial and home appliance because of their high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density, and high efficiency For the high control performance, accurate information of rotor position Is essential. In recent, sensorless algorithms are much studied due to high cost problem of position sensor and low reliability in harsh environment. In the proposed method, a differential linkage flux is used for the estimation of rotor position. The differential magnetic field flux is calculated by the voltage equations and measured phase current without any integration and differential calculus. Instead of linkage flux calculation with differential operation, a new mathematical differential method is introduced by a-$\beta$ transformation. The proposed novel position sensorless speed control scheme is verified through experimental results.

  • Underwater TRN (Underwater Terrain Referenced Navigation) estimates an underwater vehicle state by measuring a distance between the vehicle and undersea terrain, and comparing it with the known terrain database. TRN belongs to absolute navigation methods, which are used to compensate a drift error of dead reckoning measurements such as IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) or DVL (Doppler Velocity Log). However, underwater TRN is different to other absolute methods such as USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) and LBL (Long Baseline), because TRN is independent of the external environment. As a magnetic-field-based navigation, TRN is a kind of geophysical navigation. This paper develops an EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) formulation for underwater TRN. A filter propagation part is composed by an inertial navigation system, and a filter update is executed with echo-sounder measurement. For large-initial-error cases, an adaptive EKF approach is also presented, to keep the filter be stable. At the end, simulation studies are given to verify the performance of the proposed TRN filter. With simplified sensor and terrain database models, the simulation results show that the underwater TRN could support conventional underwater navigation methods.

  • Oscillatory magnetic fields produced in the brain due to neuronal activity can be measured by the sensor. Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a non-invasive technique to record such neuronal activity due to excellent temporal and fair amount of spatial resolution, which gives information about the brain's functional activity. Potential utilization of high spatial resolution in MEG is likely to provide information related to in-depth brain functioning and underlying factors responsible for changes in neuronal waves in some diseases under resting state or task state. This review is a comprehensive report to introduce statistical models from MEG data including graphical network modelling. It is also meaningful to note that statisticians should play an important role in the brain science field.
