In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the ratio of the scale parameters in the half logistic distributions. We develop the first and second order matching priors. It turns out that the second order matching prior matches the alternative coverage probabilities, and is a highest posterior density matching prior. Also we reveal that the one-at-a-time reference prior and Jeffreys' prior are the second order matching prior. We show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through simulation study, and an example based on real data is given.

We investigated the electronic structure and magnetic properties of zinc-blende CrP/SrBi interface by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation. It is found that the half-metallicity is destroyed when the two half-metals are in contact. Magnetic moments of the atoms forming the supercell differ considerably from the respective values obtained for the bulk structures of the two materials. Cr atoms being and not being in contact with Bi atoms have magnetic moment 3.43 and $2.69{\mu}_B$, respectively. Bi atoms lose their majority electrons which results in their negative polarization. Alkaline Sr atoms are very weakly negatively polarized. The spin distribution within the supercell is such that well separated regions of positive and negative polarization are seen, especially around the layer of P atoms being in contact with the layer of Sr atoms.

I tried to understand a folk tale "The half-boy" in terms of analytical psychology. In the story, a lady without children prayed to the Buddha. The white old man came and gave three fishes, but the cat ate half of it. So, she ate two and a half. She gave birth to two perfect sons. The third son had one arm, one leg, and one eye. They grew well. Brothers went to take the civil service examinations, and the half-boy followed. But two brothers did not like the half-boy coming along. So, brothers tied the half-boy to the rocks and trees, and he picked them up with force and gave them down to the yard of the house. And the half-boy followed his brothers again, and brothers tied him with kudzu and put him in front of the tiger. The half-boy won the tiger by betting with cutting kudzu. The half-boy stripped off the tiger's skin. The host coveted the tiger skin and they played with janggi. The half-boy won the game and was permitted to take host's daughter. The half-boy went with a string, a drum, a flea, and a bedbug. He teased host's people with these. The half-boy brought a virgin and lived well. "The Half-Boy" folktale is an old story spread throughout the country. There are similar stories in India and Africa. Unilateral figures are universally distributed archetypal images. In numerous cultures gods and spirits are being portrayed as unilateral figures. In the creation mythology, half-figure beings have immortality. In Indonesian and African folk tales, the half-born boy goes to heaven and merges with its half and becomes perfect. Some of one-sided spirits are harmful to humans but some of one-sided birds, chickens, and spirits are helpful to people. Sometimes half being is a cultural hero who steals grain from heaven or gets some advice how to use bamboo. There are stories that half body becomes a whole body afterwards. But in this folktale and most of the similar folktales, half-figure does not change and maintains half-figure to the end. And as a half-figure he does various great things and marries a virgin. The half-boy symbolizes a psychic experience born in the unconscious. The unconscious contents may seem strange and weird at first and the collective consciousness does not want to accept them. But the unconscious exerts greater power and brings vitality and creativity to consciousness. This folk tale seems to have compensated for the stubborn collective consciousness of our society, which was a Confucian class society. It also allows people to change their attitude toward disabled people and recognize strengths and creativity of the handicapped.

This paper presents a new method for measuring the half-wave voltage $V_{\pi}$ of an electro-optic phase modulator based on a phase-modulated photonic link with interferometric demodulation. By using this method, the $V_{\pi}$ can be obtained with the RF voltage amplitude input required to achieve 1-dB gain compression of link and the differential delay of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. We measure the $V_{\pi}$ of a commercial phase modulator by using the presented method and the carrier/the first sideband intensity ratio method. Furthermore, we compare the two measurements with the typical value provided by the manufacturer. The experiment shows that this novel measurement method is feasible, straightforward, and accurate.

Using the Vienna ab initio simulation package (VASP) incorporating both semiempirical and nonlocal van der Waals interaction, the structural, adsorption, and magnetic properties of Ni/BN/Co systems were investigated. We proposed that the relative spin direction of Ni and Co magnets can be easily tuned, because the total energy difference between ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) states is small. Despite this feature, very interestingly, both Ni and Co layers manifest half-metallic state, whereas the spacer BN layer becomes weak metal for one monolayer (ML) thickness and an insulating barrier for two ML thicknesses. The half-metallic behavior of the magnetic layers seems very robust, because it is independent of the magnetic coupling between Ni and Co. This finding indicates that the Ni/BN/Co system can be used as a potential candidate for tunneling magnetoresistance system.

This paper proposes two kinds of novel switching method for a single phase current-controlled voltage-type ac-to-dc converter. Proposed are modifications of the conventional hysteresis current control, and are named by the half suppressing method and unipolar method, respectively. The first one suppresses an inactive half of the four switching signals and uses active another half for current control. The second method uses only one, a quarter of switching signals suppresed the others. Both the simulation and experimental results show that proposed methods are more efficient in switch utilization and have comparable or better performance when compared with conventional method.

Until now, the studies researching the Taoism theories of Joseon Dynasty have mainly dealt around the latter half of Joseon Dynasty. The reason for that was because the 5 cribs of a book Lao Tzu and the 2 crib of a book Changzi were produced after the Imjin-Year Korean-Japanese War(壬辰倭亂,Imjin Waeran). Therefore this thesis extracted the mentions about Taoism from about 200-year history records from Jeong Do-Jeon's Theory, which was the theoretical foundation for early days of Joseon's foundation and the history book King Taejong's Annals(太宗實錄) contained in The Annals of Joseon Dynasty(朝鮮王朝實 錄) and analyzed the extracted historic data as the first work contemplating how the Taoism theories were developed during the first half of Joseon Dynasty. From the analysis, this study drew out the findings as follows. Jeong Do-Jeon and Gwon Geun sharply criticized the Taoism for that it pursued for the techniques of longevity for oneself without moral. They tried to establish the identity of neo-Confucianism on the foundation criticizing the Taoism and the Buddhism. Since then, the Taoism was transformed through the 3 stages in The Annals of Joseon Dynasty. The first stage was the stage transformed 'Lao Tzu' as the witchcraft master of long-live, the technique of the taoist hermit and the super god in Taoism, and regarded the Taoism as heresy and excluded the Taoism. Second stage was the stage trying to see the book Lao Tzu as the core of Taoism theory separately from the 'Hermit Witchcraft' and the 'Taoist gods' the target of fortune-pursue religion beyond from the primary discussion of exclusion. Third stage was revealed as the respects on the art of politics and the art of living described in the book Lao Tzu. That is, the Taoism theories in the first half of Joseon Dynasty was developed with various spectrums from the early days of Joseon's foundation to 15~16 centuries beyond Joseon's strong suppression against the Taoism and the Buddhism in early days. That is the point that the Taoism in the first half of Joseon Dynasty can't be simply interpreted in the neo-Confucianism. During the firs half of Joseon Dynasty, the warm attitude toward the Taoism was created differently from the attitude against suppressing it as a cult, which had been created in the early days of Josen's foundation, and there appeared the changes accepting the art of living and the art of politics theoretically integrating with the Confucianism theories. That is, the book 'Lao Tus' became accepted as the Confucian country's arts of living and politics from a cult book pursuing for immoral log and immortal life. Such acception is revealed as the appearance actively interpreting the books about Laoism in the latter half o Joseon Dynasty.
