Strategic plan of Subaru science and operation will be introduced. Currently, Subaru has wide variety of instruments, conducts only classical observations, with less than 5 nights allocation for each proposal. Near future, Subaru will emphasize on surveys, introduce queue mode observations, reduce the number of instruments, and concentrate on large size programs. Large surveys are called Subaru Strategic Programs (SSPs). HSC-SSP is on-going (300 nights for 5 years), PFS-SSP will start at around 2020 (360 nights for 5 years), and IRD-SSP from 2016 (TBD). HSC science includes 1) cosmology with gravitational lensing, 2) lensing studies of galaxies and clusters, 3) photometric redshifts, 4) the Solar system, 5) the Milky Way and the Local Group, 6) AGN/quasars, 7) transients, 8) galaxies at low/high redshifts, and 9) clusters of galaxies. PFS science includes 1) cosmology, 2) galaxy & AGN, and 3) galactic archaeology. Subaru is planning the third pillar instrument, so called ULTIMATE-Subaru, which is the GLAO optical-NIR wide field camera & multi-IFU spectrograph for finding galaxies at ultra high redshift (z>10). Finally the strategy from Subaru to TMT will be presented. Subaru will conduct four major SSPs (HSC, PFS, IRD, ULTIMATE-Subaru) in coming decade to provide targets to TMT. HSC performs wide field surveys to reveal the distribution of dark matter in the Universe. IRD surveys Earth-like young planets to discover ~20 Earth-like habitable planets. PFS studies the expanding Universe to provide a few million emission line galaxies to TMT.

The concept map is the diagram of two dimensions which hierachically arrays main concepts from those of the textbook and shows their relations. The research analyzed five of the ten high school earthscience textbooks approved by the Minister of Education according to the 6th reformed curriculum in 1995, one of which this research chose to make out the concept maps. The chapter [III. the Universe] contains the outer space of the earth presents new concepts about the stars and the universe and introduces the latest research in astronomy. This study changed textbook contents into Novak's concept map, searched for concepts requiring complement for learners in oder to obtain concepts from those of the textbook and pointed out problems on the basis of that result still better concept map is set up. We have the following conclusions. First, it is necessary to rule out unnecessary small units so as to make more effective understanding and to rearrange the units to have relation to contents. Second, the higher concept and lower concept need to be rearranged systematically in making an array of textbook contents. Third, the concept should have something to do with learners' experences and consciousness by showing learners the real examples relevant to the concept for the link between them.

The topic of this study is to ask and answer about 'What matters most in medicine'. And the purpose of this study is to establish paradigm which guarantee 'the original principles of science in medicine' and 'the safety of human life in medicine'. The organized characteristics of this study is as follows. 1. 'The harmony of nature (heaven, earth and human)' is the base of medicine. Because medicine control life directly and all life is 'the son of nature'. 2. 'The harmony of Eum and Yang' is the essential power of universe and the key of metabolism of all life including human, animals and plants. Because 'the nature of universe' and all 'Life field' is 'electro-magnetic field'. 3. The Convergence of Oriental medicine and Western medicine orients 'the harmony of Eum and Yang'.

We present a semi-analytical method to calculate the global evolution of the ionized state of the intergalactic medium, on the basis of physically motivated star formation histories in the early universe. This method incorporates not only the conventional scenarios in which the star formation rate is proportional to the growth rate of the halo collapse fraction, but also the more sophisticated scenarios in which the star formation is self-regulated. We show that this variance in the star-formation model strongly impacts the resulting reionization history, which bears a prospect for observational discrimination of these models. We discuss how observations of the anisotropic polarization of the cosmic microwave background and the global 21cm signal from the high-redshift universe, most notably by Planck and EDGES, may probe the history of reionization.

We present the environmental dependence of the luminosity-size relation of galaxies in the local universe (z < 0.01) along with their dependence on galaxy morphology represented by five broad types (E, dEs, S0, Sp, and Irr). The environmental parameters we consider are the local background density and the group/cluster membership together with the clustercenteric distance for the Virgo cluster galaxies. We derive the regression coefficient (${\beta}$), i.e., the slope of the line representing the least-squares fitting to the data and the Pearson correlation coefficient (c.c.) representing the goodness of the least-squares fit along with the confidence interval from bootstrap resampling. We find no significant dependence of the luminosity-size relation on galaxy morphology. However, there is a weak dependence of the luminosity-size relations on the environment of galaxies, in the sense that galaxies in the low density environment have shallower slopes than galaxies in the high density regions except for elliptical galaxies that show an opposite trend.

The objective of this study is to examine the cognitive process that undergoes a middle student’s conceptual change about the universe by the cognitive conflict, using science history materials as a teaching strategy. Four eighth graders were selected and classified by three cognitive level. Students were interviewed and conducted to an inquiry activities regarding their viewpoint about the universe after each class, and their conceptual change patterns were analysed from pre-test and post-test. This study showed that each student held dissimilar astronomical preconceptions and various misconceptions about celestial motion. Students at the formal operational stage and transitional stage experienced the conceptual change from geocentricism to heliocentricism by instructional model upon the science history materials. Student at the concrete operational stage had either unscientific conception, no conception, or could not have a conceptual change even when being presented with an environment that arouses cognitive conflict ($R^2$: Phase change of Venus and its Rise and set time). They ended up having a cognitive change from geocentricism to heliocentricism by solving another problem ($R^2$: Relation between visible diameter and position of Mars). After the instruction, a conceptual achievement progress was reported with a $10\%$ improvement. Therefore, the instruction model based upon science history was effective on student’s scientific conceptual change.

Computer graphics(CG) is one of the most useful tools by which we can easily understand visible/invisible natural phenomena. Namely, phenomena in the universe is attractive one because of its beauty and invisibility on the earth. For gravitational tensing phenomena, a ray tracing algorithm is proposed based on a lens-plane. In the method, position of gravitational sources is restricted. In this paper an improved visualization method is proposed, which can represent more complex situation than the previous method.

In the standard theory of the large scale structure formation, matter accretes onto high density perturbations via gravitational instability. Collision less dark matter forms caustics around such structures, while collisional baryonic matter forms accretion shocks which then halt and heat the infalling gas. Here we discuss the characteristics. roles, and observational consequences of these accretion shocks.

The conception of 'earth(土)' belonging to the five evolutive phases(五行) is cognized that it is not partial to any side differing from other four phases and it can control other four phases so, it is the first gate to enter the process of changes. In the five organs(五臟), the spleen come under the earth phases and it have been very importantly considered for past to now in oriental medical history, for example by Li Dongyuan(李東垣). In this study, the results are summarized as the followings. 1. The term of the acquired constitution(後天) made by So-ong(邵雍), a scholar in the north so-dynasty, is used in the study of the book of changes(易經). And he said "The inborn constitution(先天) is the law of the nature itself and, the acquired constitution(後天) is the law of making the changes with the nature." In the myung-dynasty Li jungjae(李仲梓) made extract from this remarks 10 define that the spleen is the basis of the acquired constitution. So it considered that the the idea of changes(易) had an effect on the oriental medicine. 2. The one element of five phases, earth is the center of the changes and it composes the power of life with the sangsu(生數)-1, 2, 3, 4, and the sungsu(成數)-6, 7, 8, 9. In this process, the earth is the basis of the changes of the five phases. At the same time the spleen carry out the important physiological role in the humanbody controlling the other four organs. 3. In the change of the universe, the repetitionary movement of Yin(陰) and yang(陽) is the action of earth and it means illimitable division. In the course of this division all things change to new phases for example, the food changes 10 the ki(氣) through the action of spleen and stomach. So the organ of spleen and stomach is the space that the action of change occur. 4. Consequently the conception of bi(脾) is close to the pancreas that the spleen. And the duodenum is close to the conception of stomach because the space is the site of mito(未土). 5. The action of yin and yang in the ancient taegukdo(太極圖) is close 10 the connection of N-pole and S-pole. In the humanbody the two power is compared to the action of spleen and kidney, that means expansion and contraction. Also it means the inborn constitution and the acquired constitution so, it applyed to the all things in the universe.

The purpose of this study is find out the correlation of level of knowledge of pre-service elementary teacher with space perception ability on 'Earth and Space' of elementary science. During the second semester of 2013, for 15 weeks, the classes were conducted for 3 hours per week and we find out knowledge Understanding degree and select terms offered by 5th grade science courses 'The solar system and the stars', 'Earth and Moon', 'change of seasons' section and measured space perception ability degree of pre-service elementary school teacher with a questionnaire. We analyzed the correlation of understanding level of knowledge in the field of astronomy of pre-service elementary school teacher with space perception ability. The results of the study are presented as follows. First, pre-service elementary school teacher showed a low level of knowledge understanding as it goes the upper grades about upper concept in 'The solar system and the stars', 'Earth and Moon', 'change of seasons' section' of astronomy area of elementary science 'Earth and space sector'. The pre-service elementary school teachers needs to acquire knowledge of astronomy area in elementary school curriculum. Second, pre-service elementary school teacher showed that there are differences individually in 'finding solid body' of sub-element of space perception ability. This shows that 'finding solid body' factor is associated with space perception ability. Third, in the section of 'The earth and the Universe' for elementary education, 'Reflection' and 'Finding solid body' which are low-level components of space perception ability were verified that have a corelationship with general grades in the astronomy conception test.
