In the latter part of the $20^{th}$ century, the road in American culture has been identified with independence, mobility, and speed, but in his seminal poem, "Song of the Open Road," Walt Whitman characterized road journeys as simultaneously physical, intellectual, and spiritual, a view embraced by Vincent Van Gogh whose Terrace of a Caf? at Night illustrates in paint what Whitman said in words. Others such as Jack Kerouac in On the Road followed in Whitman's tradition, one taken up even more recently by David Lynch, whose films are best known for a condemnation of American suburban life, but whose Straight Story evokes a profound spirituality as part of the road. This essay explores spirituality in these various texts.

The Imperial Road is Jean Rhys s unfinished manuscript, rejected by publishers for its openly racist tone. Although it describes Rhys s actual visit to Dominica in 1936, it is not a transparent recollection of the travel but a recreation informed by racial dynamics of the 1970s when she wrote the text. This paper examines the manuscript as a troubled (and troubling) response to what Rhys perceived as racial rejection from Dominica at the wake of political independence. Rhys s representation of white Creole womanhood significantly depends on an interwoven configuration of racial dynamics and sexual politics, where an oppressive white European man facilitates a white Creole woman s cross-racial identification with Afro-Caribbeans. However, the political and literary landscape of the West Indies in the 1970s made such cross-racial identification untenable. As a result, The Imperial Road is full of disturbing racial hatred, prejudice, and resentment. And yet, it also reflects Rhys s honest and serious concern over a white Creole s racial identity in postcolonial Dominica, raising a difficult question: How would a postcolonial age change a white Creole identity that belongs neither to the colonized nor to the colonizer (or both)? In The Imperial Road, unable to identify with Afro-Caribbeans, the white Creole is disoriented in time and space, lost at home, stuck between the past and the present, not knowing how to participate in a postcolonial homeland. Through the narrator s racial disorientation, The Imperial Road exposes the white Creole s fundamental dependence on other Creoles.

효창공원은 조선시대 문효 세자와 생모 의빈 성씨, 순조의 후궁 숙의 박씨와 영온 옹주의 묘가 있었던 왕실 묘역이었다. 고종대에 효창묘에서 효창원으로 격상되었다. 일제는 왕실묘역이었던 효창원을 훼손하여 공원으로 만들었으며, 1944년에는 효창원의 왕실묘역을 서삼릉으로 이장하였다. 해방 후 중경에서 돌아온 김구는 효창공원의 비어있던 공간에 독립운동자 묘역을 조성하였다. 삼의사묘, 임시정부 요인 묘가 그것이다. 김구 자신도 1949년 서거 후 효창 공원에 묻혔다. 이승만 정권, 박정희 정권시기에는 독립운동가들이 묻혀있는 효창공원에 대한 정체성 변화시도가 끊이지 않아 효창운동장, 원효대사 동상, 북한반공투사위령탑 등이 세워졌다. 1987년 민주화 이후 효창공원의 독립운동가 묘역은 다시 의미를 부여받기 시작했다. 6공화국 헌법에서 임시정부의 법통을 계승하였으며, 이후 효창공원에 대한 국립묘지화와 독립공원화가 시도되었지만 사회적 합의를 이루어내지 못하였다. 본 연구에서는 효창공원의 역사적 중층성과 상징성에 주목하여 '독립의 길'이라는 주제로 스토리텔링을 하여 그 의미를 부각시키고, 효창공원의 정체성에 대한 사회적 합의를 이루어나가는데 기여하고자 한다.

도로는 지역경제의 성장과 지역간 연결성 그리고 생활환경의 질을 높이는데 기여하는 사회 간접자본 시설이다. 현재 우리나라는 도로와 같은 사회 간접자본 시설의 증가가 특정 지역에 편중되어 있어 지역간 큰 불균형을 이루고 있다. 또한, 일부지역에서는 지역경제 성장의 근간이 되는 도로의 부족으로 인해 대기업 및 중소기업들이 지역 내 투자를 꺼려해 지방세수입의 감소 및 지역의 산업, 경제발전과 지방재정자립도의 부실 등 지방경제재정 전반이 취약한 실정이다. 한편, 중앙집권시대에서 지방 분권화 시대로 넘어가면서 지방 사회 간접자본 시설 확충에 대해 국토의 전반적인 개발을 우선시하는 균형화 개발보다는 기존의 경제적 규모에 의한 개발정책이 우선시 되어 지역간의 경제적 격차를 고착화시키고, 나아가서는 지역적 부의 차이가 교육, 사회, 문화, 예술 등 전반적인 삶의 질까지 차등화 하려는 조짐을 보이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 국토의 균형 발전과 지방경제 활성화를 위해 필요한 조건 가운데 하나인 도로건설을 중심으로 도로성장과 지역경제에 관한 분석을 시도하였다.

Among the government-sponsored projects supported by Ministry of SMEs and Startups(MSS), the financial support of the Consulting Research Institutes of our university is scheduled to be ended this year. In this regard, this study is to develop a profit model for R&D center of Consulting Research Institute that can cultivate the financial independence of R&D center of Consulting Research Institutes and foster technology convergence consulting manpower to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs in preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The profit model were derived from the current status of consulting industry and similar organizations, the current status of consulting graduate R&D centers, case studies of other universities, and focus group interviews. In order to select three high profit models and commercialize them, BMC (Biz Model Canvas) was used and business feasibility was examined. Therefore, three profit model of R&D center of Consulting Research Institute are: First, SCB (SME's Consulting Business: Total Solution Provider for SMEs through Technology Convergence Consulting), Second, SNB (SME's Network Business: Experts connection in Consulting Graduate School for Solving Problems and Problems of SMEs / Industry Consolidation) And third, SM (Sustainable Management: Financial independence through structural improvement of Consulting Research Institute), and the road-map was established. As an implementation plan, the company intends to seek financial independence by developing a profit model for R&D center of Consulting Research Institutes and by establishing business goals and strategies, manpower operation plan, organization, and investment plan for three years.

South Sumatra's capital, Palembang, has long maintained a river-oriented transportation system. With road transportation's increased importance for exploiting natural resources, however, hundreds of roads have been constructed since the Dutch colonial period. This article examines how the construction of roads and bridges affected people's lives and social networks in Palembang, and what social and political significance it has in the context of a region in the postcolonial Indonesia, with a focus on the huge river called the Musi River, which horizontally crosses the city. After independence, there has been strong aspiration to link these two parts by road, and in 1965 the Musi Bridge (then the Sukarno Bridge) over the river was eventually opened. The construction of the bridge apparently initiated socioeconomic transformations and development in the region, including Ulu (the southern river bank)'s rapid urbanization. However, the features of regional development actually were prerequisites for "national" development. The regional development was impossible without financial support from the central government, and the local or regional aspiration for development was often supported only when it fitted with national envision. The Musi Bridge was a model case that fitted with such national envision. While it was the symbol of regional development, it was also celebrated as an exemplary sign of "national" development, by both Sukarno's government and Suharto's New Order regime. By analyzing the discussions and discourses regarding the Musi project since early 1950s, in addition to its social and economic impact after the construction, this article explores the continuities and changes in the roles and significance of the (construction of the) Musi Bridge with the changing political backstops in both regimes. Together with it, this article also aims to reexamine the interplay between "the national" and "the regional" in the prevalent aspiration for the national and regional "development" throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

Through the understanding of the change of productivity and the ability of error recovery according to aging and the assessment and analysis of them, we may take this research to contribute to make a design for the road-map to help set up the policy of employment for old generation. For this we have taken an experiment of the coordination tester for 100 person who are chosen randomly and analysed the collected data using SAS, which is one of widely used statistical analysis packages. The main results are as follow: $\circledcirc$ The result of regression between the working speed and the length of the correction of error shows independence. (pr>0.2029). $\circledcirc$ The regression between age and working speed is statistically significant. (pr<0.0001) $\circledcirc$ The relation between age and the length of the correction of error is not significant. (pr>0.9123).

The Fukushima nuclear incident of 2011 served as an external shock that prompted Japan to reform its nuclear energy sector. The collusive relationship between the regulators within the Japanese government and the regulated power industry, as well as the lack of institutional independence of the regulatory agency, had derailed Japanese efforts to reform the sector for decades. The Fukushima crisis exposed these deeply-entrenched flaws in the system, causing public distrust and anger toward the government and the nuclear power sector. This paper discusses the institutional reform measures the Japanese government introduced in the wake of the Fukushima crisis to recover public confidence and revamp the sector to prevent future disasters. The paper also discusses the challenges the Japanese government faces on its road to a successful implementation of nuclear sector reforms.

A No Spin Differential (NSD) design has been improved from evaluation of two NSD models utilizing the axiomatic approach. New design parameters of the second level are developed to satisfy the independence axiom. The design matrices are determined to decouple the relationship between design parameters and process parameters. The values of process parameters are then determined to optimize and improve the NSD design. Consequently a unique and evolutionary NSD design is achieved with the aid of the axiomatic approach.
