Extensions of the Kolmogorov convergence criterion and the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund inequalities from independent random variables to conditional independent ones are derived. As their applications, a conditional version of the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong law of large numbers and a result on convergence in $L^p$ for conditionally independent and conditionally identically distributed random variables are established, respectively.

An efficient parallel algorithm is presented to find a maximum weight independent set of a permutation graph which takes O(log n) time using O($n^2$/ log n) processors on an EREW PRAM, provided the graph has at most O(n) maximal independent sets. The best known parallel algorithm takes O($log^2n$) time and O($n^3/log\;n$) processors on a CREW PRAM.

In this paper, we establish complete convergence for sequences of extended independent random variables and arrays of rowwise extended independent random variables under sub-linear expectations in Peng's framework. The results obtained in this paper extend the corresponding ones of Baum and Katz [1] and Hu and Taylor [11] from classical probability space to sub-linear expectation space.

The purpose of this research is to propose a method for scoring the quality of a fingerprint image using the local information derived from the fingerprint image. In previous works for the quality measuring, most of the quality scores are related to the performance of a matching algorithm, and this makes the quality result more subjective. The quality score of a fingerprint image proposed in this work is sensor-independent, source-independent and matcher-independent one, and this concept of fingerprint sample quality results in effective improvement of the system performance. In this research, a new definition of fingerprint image quality and a new method for measuring the quality are proposed. For the experiments, several sub-databases from FVCs are used and the proposed method showed reasonable results for the test database. The proposed method can be used in various systems for the numerous purposes since the quality scores generated by the proposed method are based on the idea that the quality of fingerprint should be sensor-independent, source-independent and matcher-independent.

Purpose - Since the opening of Korea's distribution market, the domestic network marketing market has been continuing to grow. In this context, research on network marketing independent operators, which plays the most important role in the network marketing industry, is insufficient. This study was to identify the effects of Independent Operator's Company Selection Attributions on the Economic and Non-Economic Satisfaction, Trust, and Recommendation. The results will provide strategic direction, theoretical and practical implications for companies and operators in the network marketing industry. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to verify the research hypotheses, the data were collected from Independent Operators of Network marketing industry using questionnaires. The pretest was conducted from January 8 to 19, 2018, and the main survey was conducted from February 1 to 28. A total of 210 questionnaires, of which 193 copies were collected. The data were analyzed with SPSS 21.0. and AMOS 21.0. Results - The results are as follows; product competitiveness and system competitiveness have significant effects on economic satisfaction and non-economic satisfaction. Economic and non-economic satisfaction have significant effects on business trust. Economic and non-economic satisfaction did not influence recommendation intention directly, but influence it indirectly. Business trust has a significant effect on business recommendation intention. Conclusions - After starting network marketing business as an independent operator, the competitiveness of the company is meaningless, and product competitiveness and system competitiveness are important factors for economic and non-economic satisfaction. Therefore, network marketing companies and independent operators should prioritize product competitiveness and system competitiveness between business development. The findings show that trust in the business is very important for active business Recommendation to others. Therefore, network marketing firms and independent operators need to make efforts to meet economic and non-economic satisfaction, which have a significant impact on business trust.

This study was conducted to estimate the appropriate workforce of dietitians by type of kindergarten through the recognition survey and job analysis of the kindergarten. Nutritionists' duties were classified into 6 duties, 28 tasks and 94 task elements. The statistical data analysis was completed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) (ver. 25.0). The time spent on 6 duties, including 'Nutrition management' (public attached 666.24 hours/year, public independent 843.04 hours/year), 'Foodservice management Practices' (public attached 1,472.52 hours/year, public independent 1,298.11 hours/year), 'Hygiene management of kindergarten foodservice' (public attached 611.78 hours/year, public independent 607.18 hours/year), 'Nutrition-diet education and counseling' (public attached 340.53 hours/year, public independent 253.42 hours/year), 'Managing snack during semesters and lunch/snacks during breaks' (public independent 309.04 hours/year) and 'Professionalism enhancement' (public attached 88.86 hours/year; public independent 65.17 hours/year). Total working hours for dietitians were 3,179.94 hours/year (public attached) and 3,375.97 hours/year (public independent). The time/day ×5 days/week ×52 weeks/year calculation method using derived total working hours/year was applied to derive appropriate full-time equivalents (FTEs). The analysis showed that the public attached kindergarten's FTEs were 1.53. The public independent's FTEs were 1.62, and the total FTEs were 1.55. This is the first study to analyze the workload of kindergarten dietitians and appropriate manpower by kindergarten establishment type. It is expected to be a valuable policy basis for efficient operation measures related to the kindergarten dietitians.

Rate-independent crystal plasticity model suffers from the non-uniqueness of activated slip systems and the determination of the shear slip rates on the active slip systems. In this paper, a time-integration algorithm which circumvents the problem of the multiplicity of the slip systems was developed and implemented into the user subroutine VUMAT of a commercial finite element program ABAQUS. The magnitude of the slip shears on the active slip systems in f.c.c Cu single crystal aligned with the specific crystallographic orientation was investigated to validate our solution procedure. Also, texture developments under various deformation modes such as simple compression, simple tension and plane strain compression were compared with the results of the rate-dependent model by using the rate-independent crystal plasticity model. The computation time employing the rate-independent model is much more reduced than the those of the rate-dependent model.

This paper discusses the independent seminar as one of the appropriate courses, in particular, for the students who study English literature in the doctoral program. Those who take the Ph.D. program in English literature are considered as future scholars or teachers. In taking the coursework, they not only delve into the knowledge of literature, but also begin to establish broader and deeper senses of research ability. The independent seminar class helps them build such senses through the way in which they experience to the development of the syllabus by themselves. Furthermore, in contrast to a regular class, in which a group of students learn in a classroom, the independent seminar gives each student intensive interactions with his/her professor through the out-of-classroom circumstances, since the seminar is based upon one-on-one study between the student and the professor.

In this study, we argue from the Resource-Based View and Signaling Theory that Independent and Corporate VC firms have Different Impacts on time to IPO due to their Different Interests, Motivations, and Resources. Independent VC firms are primarily Financial Oriented, but Corporate VC firms generally are Strategic in Orientation. The results of this study indicate that the time to IPO is differentiated between Corporate VC firms and Independent VC firms. The results show that Independent VC firms have shorter the time to IPO compared to the time to IPO of Corporate VC firms. In addition, this study suggests that it is necessary for firms to select a venture capital that suits their situation and secure a competitive advantage. Using a sample of 300 IPOs from 2010 to 2016, we found Support for the Hypotheses that Independent VC and Corporate VC Ownership are Positively Associated with Time to IPO, whereas Time to IPO of Corporate VC Ownership is Longer than that of Independent VC Ownership.
