본 논문은 2500V급 planar type의 NPT(Nun-Punch Through)형 IGBT설계 및 제작에 앞서 IGBT(Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor)소자가 갖는 구조적 변수가 전기적 특성 (Breakdown Voltage, Turnoff Time, Saturation Voltage, 등)결과에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 IGBT 소자가 갖는 구조적 손실을 최적화 하는데 목표를 두었다. 최적화의 진행은 공정 시뮬레이터인 Tsuprem4와 디바이스 분석 시뮬레이터인 MEDICI를 이용하여 소자가 갖는 각각의 parameter값이 전기적 특성에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로 진행 되어졌으며, 향후 고속철 등과 같은 대용량 산업에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

This article criticizes the dichotomous world view in which the East and the West are absolutely divided from each other and asserts that the East and the West should be understood as 'we' who ought to acknowledge each other not only as subjects but also reciprocally as 'others'. If the East is 'I', then the West is 'You' and vice versa and as such, the East differs from the West. Hence, supposing that they both regard themselves as subjects and if they realize that they can also be others against the other subject, they as different subjects should be understood as 'others in us'. Since the 19th Century the East has made efforts to learn and accept Western culture and thought. But it seems that the East has never regarded the West as an 'other in us', but rather as either an 'other outside of us' or as 'the real I that it should develop into'. This shows the self-contradictory perspective of the East. It can be thought that such an attitude was revealed as typical of the Far East in the 19th Century, in which the Opium War broke out and Sinocentrism collapsed. On the other hand, the West has never recognized the Eastasan 'other in us'. Nowadays we pursue the most actual value, that is, 'globalization'. In order to realize that value for the development of the whole human, it is necessary that both the East and West should first recognize each other as the 'other in us'.

Objective: The antiplatelet agent aspirin has been widely used for treating atherosclerosis in western medicine, and its efficacy has been proven in cardiac and extracardiac vascular diseases. On the other hand, Hyeolbuchukeo-tang has been widely used for treating blood stasis syndrome in traditional medicine. Therefore we investigated whether Hyeolbuchukeo-tang could have a synergic effect along with aspirin. Methods & Materials: Male $ApoE^{(-/-)}$ mice were randomly divided into three different experimental groups: a non-treated group(Control group), an aspirin-treated group(AP group), and an aspirin with Hyeolbuchukeo-tang-treated group(APH group). The control group was fed only an atherogenic diet, the AP group an atherogenic diet plus Aspirin 5 mg/kg, and the APH group an atherogenic diet plus Aspirin 5 mg/kg with Hyeolbuchukeo-tang 100 mg/kg. We investigated plasma lipid with liver function test, and performed the histological investigation of liver and abdominal aorta. Results: 1. We investigated photomicrographic changes of liver and abdominal aorta tissue. They showed that histological injury of aorta and lipid accumulations of the liver were lower in the AP and APH groups than in the control group. 2. In the APH group, plasma triglyceride levels were significantly lower than those in the control and AP groups. 3. There were no differences in aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels among the control, AP and APH groups. Conclusion: The above results show that a combined treatment of Hyeolbuchukeo-tang and aspirin has a somewhat synergic effect in terms of inhibiting vessel injury and decreasing lipid deposits on liver cells without liver toxicity.

Since the discovery over a decade ago, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been attracting considerable attentions both from scientists and engineers. Because of the excellent field emission properties, such as high aspect ratio, extremely small diameter, and high emission current, CNTs become a potential candidate as field emitter for field emission display (FED) and lighting (FEL) as backlight for LCD. Due to the exceptional physical properties, such as superior thermal and electrical conductivities, as well as high stiffness and strength, the CNT-based composites can be as light-weight heat-sink or thermal spreader materials used for power electronic devices, such as power LED for general illumination. The CNTs for above applications will be reviewed, and related materials and devices will be demonstrated in this paper.

Objectives : This study is aimed to elucidate anti-hepatoma activity of Coptis Chinensis Extract (CCE) and evaluate its effect on proliferation of human hepatoma Hep G2 cells. Methods : To identify CCE and control the quality, we performed fingerprinting by high-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC). To investigate effects of CCE on anti-hepatoma activity, we measured cytotoxicity against Hep G2 cells compared with treatment of paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). To examine the mechanism of inhibitory effect of CCE on Hep G2 cell proliferation, cell cycle distribution was evaluated using fluorescent activated cell sorter (FACS) Result : CCE showed a significant effect that arrests Hep G2 cells at the G2/M phase of the cell cycle. CCE combined with paclitaxel inhibited synergistically cell growth of Hep G2 cells. Conclusion : CCE may present anticancer effects through inhibition of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell proliferation via G2/M arrest, and may be a useful anticancer agent for HCC.

This case report documents a case in which the administration of an herbal product, an extract of the lacquer tree, Rhus verniciflua Stokes was related with a prolonged survival in a elderly advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patient. A 79-year-old man who had been diagnosed with advanced NSCLC refused conventional therapy and treatment with the allergen-removed Rhus verniciflua Stokes(aRVS) had continued from September 2007 to July 2010. He had survived for 35 months after the administration of aRVS and maintained good performance status with European Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(ECOG PS) of 1. This case suggests that aRVS be alternative treatment for the elderly advanced NSCLC patients.

Objectives : We present a case of pancreatic carcinoma patient with lymph node metastasis. Methods : We analyzed the medical record of a pancreatic carcinoma patient with lymph node metastasis who had been treated with traditional Korean medicine from 2006 until 2007. He complained of abdominal pain, dyspepsia and anorexia. We prescribed him HAD, PSM, BKH and other oriental medicines. Results : For 18 months he was treated with oriental medicine. Over this time, the pancreatic tumor remains stable disease (SD) and most symptoms have disappeared. Cconclusions : When it comes to the therapeutic effects, it could be suggested that oriental medicine has effects on keeping SD and improving symptoms.

Objectives: This experimental study was carried out to evaluate the immune modulating and anti-tumor activity of Ampelopsis Radix extracts (ARE). Materials and Methods: To elucidate the effects of ARE on the macrophage and NK cell activity, we analyzed NO production, NK cytotoxicity and gene expressions of cytokine related with macrophage and NK cell activity. Results: ARE activated and promoted macrophages to product NO in part. And, ARE has significant properties to activate macrophages and NK cells by promoting related cytokines like IL-1, IL-12, IFN-$\gamma$, iNOS and TNF-$\alpha$ gene expressions. We also observed that ARE promoted protein expression of IFN-$\gamma$, and TNF-$\alpha$ in mice splenocytes. Conclusions: ARE is an effective herbal drug for immune modulating and anti-cancer by promoting activity of macrophages and NK cells.

Objective : In order to study the effects of bee venom(BV) on the pain, edema, and acute inflammatory reactant of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) patients. Methods : Patients with RA who met the ACR(American College of Rheumatology) 1987 revised criteria for the diagnosis of RA were treated with the BV therapy twice a week for 3 months. Tender joint counts, swollen joint counts, Visual analog scale(VAS), morning in stiffness, ESR, C-reactive protein(CRP) were analyzed before and after BV therapy. Results : The results as follows: 1. Tender joint counts in patients after BV therapy were significantly lower than those before BV therapy($9.0{\pm}7.9$ vs $15{\pm}11.4$, p=0.002). 2. Swollen joint counts of the patients after BV therapy were significantly lower than those before BV therapy ($5.0{\pm}6.1$ vs $1.5{\pm}2.3$, p=0.001). 3. VAS in patients after BV therapy was significantly lower than before BV therapy($60.8{\pm}17.6$ vs $38.0{\pm}15.9$, p=0.000). 4. Duration of morning stiffness in patients after BV therapy was significantly reduced compared with that before BV therapy($119.1{\pm}112.6min$ vs $59.0{\pm}89.7min$, p=0.009). 5. ESR and CRP were not significantly changed before and after BV therapy, suggesting BV itself could make inflammatory reaction as well as therapeutic effect. Conclusions: BV therapy improved tender joint counts, swollen joint counts and duration of morning stiffness in this study, and further study is needed in log-term effect of BV therapy.

The study tries to suggest policy proposals for enhancing competitiveness of our country as the base of fisheries logistics in East-North Asia. The study strongly recommends the adoption of the system of fisheries free trade area(FTA) to achieve the object under the analysis of structure of international fisheries trade in East-North Asian countries.
