미세수적과 레이저 평면광에 의한 와류장의 가시화 연구 (Investigation of Vortical Flow Field Visualization by Micro Water Droplet and Laser Beam Sheet)

  • 미세수적과 레이저 평면광을 사용하여 새로운 유동의 가시화 방법을 제안하였다. 미세수적은 약 5 내지 $10\mu\textrm{m}$ 크기로 가정용 초음파 가습기를 사용하여 생성시켰다. 조명은 3 W의 알곤 이온 레이저와 원통형 렌즈를 사용하여 레이저 평면광을 특정 와류장 단면에 형성시켰다. 이와 같은 새로운 유동의 가시화 방법을 측정부의 크기가 $0.9 m(W){\times}$0.9 m(H){\times}2.1 m(L)$$인 공군사관학교의 소형 풍동을 통하여 적용하였다. 가시화 결과를 통하여 미세수적을 이용한 새로운 가시화 방법이 풍동실험에 적용하기에 비교적 용이하며, 안전한 방법임을 보였다. 아울러 이 방법은 일반적으로 풍동실험에 적용되고 있는 스모크 가시화의 단점들을 보완함은 물론, 좀 더 높은 유동속도에서도 적용할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, visualization of Visible Human data offered by NLM(National Library of Medicine) is performed using $VTK^{TM}$. Computed Tomography Data set(axial, $587\times341\times256$, and the distance between slices 1mm) is used throughout the study. Before the actual visualization routine, 8 bit-reader class of VTK is developed to transform CT data to VTK dataset. After that, the visualization procedures are done to display 3D image on PC. VTK is freeware, not a commercial software. The results of VTK show relatively good image quality and slower processing time compared with the commercial softwares like IAP, IDL, AVS. Thus if processing time is not the critical factor, VTK is worthy to be used in visualization of the medical images.

마이크로 유체 원심분리기의 챔버 크기에 따른 회전 유동 가시화 (Visualization of Rotational Flow for Chamber Size of a 2×2 Microfluidic Centrifuge)

  • This paper introduces a new parameter to design the $2{\times}2$ microfluidic centrifuge with single flow rotation positioned at the center of microchamber. The dimensional centrifugal acceleration momentum flux which is defined as the interfacial momentum flux divided by distance from the center of the chamber explains the flow rotation and its threshold provides a reference to expect single flow rotation. Through the numerical and experimental visualization of the flow rotation, the number and position of flow rotation in the $2{\times}2$ microfluidic centrifuge were examined. At a channel width of $50{\mu}m$ and chamber width of $250{\mu}m$, single flow rotation was obtained over at a Reynolds number of 300, while at a channel width of $100{\mu}m$ and chamber width of $500{\mu}m$, single flow rotation did not appear. The numerical analysis showed that the threshold centrifugal acceleration momentum flux to obtain single flow rotation was $3500kg/m{\cdot}s^2$.

  • A flow visualization study using the oil film method and the smoke-laser light sheet arrangement is carried out to investigate the three-dimensional flow pattern around the free end surface region of a finite circular cylinder (aspect ratios of 1.25 and 4.25) mounted on a flat plate. The experiment is performed for the cases of two Reynolds numbers: 5.92${\times}$10$^3$and 1.48${\times}$10(sup)5. Various kinds of singular points on the free-end surface are disclosed from the oil surface flow visualization. The smoke-laser light sheet visualization, to aid in understanding the oil streak-line patterns, clearly demonstrates that a pair of tornado-like vortices marched along the downstream together with a pair of side tip vortices. A topological sketch to characterize the surface flow and the four vortices emanating from the top surface is included.

LEX를 갖는 삼각날개의 와유동 가시화 (Visualization of Vortex Flow over a Delta Wing with LEX)

  • The development and interaction of vortices over a delta wing with leading edge extension (LEX) was investigated through off-surface flow visualization using micro water droplets and a laser beam sheet. Angles of attack of $20^{\circ}$ and 24$^{\circ}$ were tested at sideslip angles of $0^{\circ}$, $-5^{\circ}$, and $-10^{\circ}$ The flow Reynolds number based on the main-wing root chord was $1.82{\times}10^{5}$. The wing vortex and the LEX vortex coiled around each other while maintaining comparable strength and identity at a zero sideslip. The increase of angle of attack intensified the coiling and shifted the cores of the wing and LEX vortices inboard and upward. By sideslip, the coiling, the merging and the diffusion of the wing and LEX vortices were increased on the windward side, whereas they were delayed significantly on the leeward side. The present study confirmed that the sideslip angle had a profound effect on the vortex structure and interaction of a delta wing with LEX, which characterized the vortex-induced aerodynamic load.

  • A visualization study on the boundary layer and near-wake of an NACA 0012 airfoil was con-ducted in order to investigate the influence of boundary layer behavior on the near-wake at low Reynolds numbers. The present study is investigated at static angles of attack ${\alpha}=0^{\circ},\;3^{\circ},\;6^{\circ}$ and $Re=2.3{\times}10^4,\;3.3{\times}10^4,\;4.8{\times}10^4$ by using a smoke-wire technique. The results of this study show that the laminar boundary layer on the airfoil surface is attached to the surface at ${\alpha}=0^{\circ}$, and that laminar separation of boundary layer on the airfoil surface occurs at ${\alpha}=3^{\circ}$. Furthermore, reattachment of the boundary layer occurs in the case of ${\alpha}=6^{\circ}$. In the current study, the location of the laminar separation point moves upstream as the Reynolds number and the angle of attack increase.

  • 한국전력연구원은 로봇제어기술과 가상현실기술을 접목하는 과정의 일환으로 로봇작업을 3D 그래픽으로 가시화(Visualization) 하는 연구를 수행하고 있다 본 논문에서는 원자력발전소 증기발생기 내부에 발생하는 슬러지를 제거하기 위한 로봇시스템과 그 작업내용의 3차원 Visualization 시스템 개발에 관한 내용을 다룬다. 본 시스템은 Microsoft사의 제작툴인 DirectX를 그래픽엔진으로 사용하였으며 C++로 작성되어있어 매우 개방적인 구조를 가지고 있어 타 분야로의 적용이 용이하다.

인포그래픽을 중심으로 살펴본 초등 과학교과서 시각화 자료의 유형과 역할 (Types and Roles of Visualization Materials in Elementary Science Textbook focusing on Infographics)

  • The visualization materials in science textbooks are very important in students' learning. Recent visualizations are increasingly emphasizing the importance of infographic visualizations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the visualization materials in $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ elementary science textbook focusing on infographics. Visualization materials were classified into infographic and simple illustration. Infographics were classified into 8 sub-types. Findings are as follows. First, infographics were 19.0%, and simple illustrations were 81.0% among elementary textbooks' visualization materials. The portion of infographic varied by content areas. In Biology and Earth Science area, the portions of infographic were high. Second, several types of infographics were used in elementary science textbooks. Timeline infographic were the most frequent, and emphasis infographic, concept mapping infographic, comparison infographic were used frequently. The most frequent types of infographic were different by content area. Third, infographics used more than simple illustrations in the role of concept explanation. Educational implications on science textbook's infographics were discussed.

판형-핀 열교환기 분배면의 유동 가시화 연구 (Flow Visualization Study around the Distributor of Plate-fin Heat Exchangers)

  • Plate-fin heat exchanger is a kind of compact heat exchangers with a good performance in heat transfer. It is widely used in various engineering fields such as aerospace, chemical and biomedical industries. Quantitative and qualitative flow visualization study were performed using the water model of commercial plate-fin heat exchanger with header angles of $30^{\circ}$. The Reynolds number was 100. Conventional digital particle image velocimetry was used to measure the instantaneous velocity fields of the header region and the flow visualization using dye injection and hydrogen bubble method were applied to capture the qualitative flow characteristics. The results showed the existence of separation flow region at the junction area and the bottom wall of the exit region.

PIV 가시화에 의한 합류덕트에서의 유동특성 (Flow Characteristics for PIV Visualization at Junction Duct)

  • Characteristics of flows at T-junction duct with and without orifices are investigated in this paper. Experiments and PIV visualization were carried out for several flow rates. Two-dimensional PIV experimental apparatus was decided by numerical analysis. PIV visualization was also coded to visualize flow fields at junctions for two-dimensional case. For the PIV visualization system, Grey-Level Cross-Correlation particle tracking algorithm was used to calculate the flow fields. Vinyl chloride polymer particles of $100{\sim}150{\mu}m$ of diameter are used in this visualization. The PIV visualization results showed relatively good agreement with Experimental data.
