A new species of the genus Tethya (Demospongiae: Hadromerida: Tethyidae), Tethya songakensis, is collected from Jeju Island, Korea, by scuba diving. This new species is characterized by oxyasters, slender tylasters and spherasters with frequently branched ray. Tethya songakensis n. sp. is similar to T. simi Sara and Bavestrello, 2000 in megascleres and megasters, but it can be clearly distinguished with the latter by the shape of microasters.

A new marine sponge in the family Tethyidae, Tethya uljinensis n. sp. was collected from Uljin, Korea in 2007. Halicometes koreana in the family Tethyidae was redescribed. Tethya uljiensis n. sp. is closely to Tethya simi. in skeletal structure and spicule composition. But, it differs in the size of spicules(stronyloxea) and shape of oxyaster.

본인은 南韓의 東海와 南海 연안에서 採集된 四放海綿類의 표본들을 同定한 결과 다음과 같은 硬海綿類에 속하는 8種의 韓國未記錄種이 밝혀졌다. Suberites virgultosa (Johnston), Suberites caminatus Ridley & Dendy, Suberites japonicus Thiele, Rhyzaxinella clavata Thiele, Tethya seychellensis (Wright), Tethya aurantium (Pallas), Chondrilla australiensis Carter, Chondrilla mixta Schulze.

Four steroids including two novel compounds have been isolated from a sponge of the genus Tethya. All of the compounds possess a 5α,8α-epidioxy functionality as a common structural feature. Two new steroids, 1 and 2, possess a cyclopropyl ring at C-24(26) of the side chain. The structures of these compounds have been determined by combined spectroscopic methods.

During the period from July 1956 to July 1967, authors collected marine sponges from the East sea, the Korea Strait and the Yellow sea. The results of the identification turned out to be 17 species, 14 genera and 10 families. The species are as follows: Family Haliclonidae: 1. Haliclona permollis; Family Callyspongiidae: 2. Callyspongia elegans, 3. C. ramosa, 4. Ceraochalina differentiata; Family halichondriidae: 5. Halichondria japonica, 6. H. okadai, 7. H. oshoro, 8. H. panicea; Family Suberitidae: 9. Suberites ficus; Family Myxillidae: 10. Myxilla setoensis, 11. Lissodendoryx isodictyalis; Family Ophlitaspondiidae: 12. Ophlitaspongia noto, 13. Mycale plumosa; Family Ancorinidae: 14. Penares incrustans; Family Tethyidae: 15. Tethya japonica; Family Grantiidae: 16. Leucandra tuba; Family Heteropiidae: 17. Vosmaeropsis japonica.

저자들이 1969年 2月과 12月, 1971年 2月, 1976年 2月 그리고 1978年 11月에 濟州島의 西歸浦에서 採集한 海綿類를 同定한 結果 3新種 즉 코리스티 다해면 目, 죠디아해면 科에 Erylus koreanus, 경해면, 目, 테티아해면 科에 Tethya koreana, 그리고 축해면 目, 털해면 科에 Raspailia koreana로 命名하고 이들을 記錄報告한다. 完模式標本은 梨大 自然史博物館에, 副模式標本은 梨大 生物學科에 보관하고 있다.
