Anxiolytic-like Effects of Methanol Extract of Zizyphi Spinosi Semen in Mice

  • Zizyphi Spinosi Semen (ZSS), a traditional Chinese folk medicine, has been used for treatment of insomnia and anxiety. This experiment was performed to investigate the anxiolytic-like effect of methanol extract of ZSS (MEZSS) in mice by using the experimental paradigms of anxiety and compared with that of a known anxiolytic, diazepam. In the elevated plus-maze test, it showed that MEZSS (100 mg/kg, p.o.) and diazepam (2.0 mg/kg, p.o.) increased the percentage of time spent on the open arms and the number of open arms entries. MEZSS (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg, p.o.) and diazepam (0.5 mg/kg, p.o.) significantly increased the number of head dips compared with that of control group in the hole-board test. However, MEZSS has no effect on decreasing the locomotor activity, while diazepam (2.0 mg/kg, p.o.) significantly inhibited locomotor activity. MEZSS did not decrease the strength force in the grip strength test, either. In addition, GABAergic involvements were also investigated to understand the possible mechanisms. $GABA_{A}$ receptors subunits and glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) were not over expressed, compared with that of the saline group. We also found that MEZSS did not increase chloride influx in cultured cerebellar granule cells. It is concluded that MEZSS might have anxiolytic-like effects, but these effects might not be mediated by GABAergic transmission.

Relationship between Ipsilateral Motor Deficits on the Less-Affected Side and Motor Function Stage on the Affected Side

  • Purpose: Aim of this study was to investigate whether there are ipsilateral motor deficits for visuospatial accuracy and fine movements by making a comparison between stroke patients and healthy subjects. We examined whether ipsilateral motor deficits are influenced by the level of functional movements and muscle strength of the upper and lower extremities of the affected side. Methods: Thirty post-stroke subjects and 20 normal aged matched subjects were recruited. Outcome measures for less-affected side were the tracking task and nine-hole pegboard test. Fugl-Meyer test and motricity index were applied for the measurement of functional movements and muscle strength of affected side. Results: Tracking task and nine-hole pegboard test was significantly different between control and experimental group. In terms of accuracy index according to tracking, the experimental group showed a lower accuracy index in the MCP joint than the control group. However, there were no significant difference relation between the level of motor function of the affected side and the motor deficit level of ipsilateral side. Conclusion: Ipsilateral motor deficits may have significant clinical implications. It needs to be noted that although many patients, families, and medical staff are focused only on motor deficits of the affected side, motor deficits of the sound side can cause difficulties in daily living movements requiring delicate movements. In addition, there was no significant correlation between the level of motor function of the affected side and motor deficits of the sound side.

동적 콘 관입지수를 이용한 철도노반의 전단파속도 추정 (Shear Wave Velocity Estimation of Railway Roadbed Using Dynamic Cone Penetration Index)

  • 연속 동하중을 지지하는 철도노반의 탄성거동은 대상 상부노반의 전단탄성계수에 주된 영향을 받으므로, 일정한 다짐도로 조성된 상부노반에서의 전단파속도 획득은 대상 지반의 탄성거동 예측에 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 상부노반에서 수행된 동적 콘 관입시험(DCPT) 결과로부터 전단파속도($V_s$)를 추정하기 위하여 동적 콘 관입지수(DCPI)와 전단파속도의 상호관계를 제시하고자 하였다. 상호관계의 신뢰도를 확보하기 위하여 동적 콘 관입시험 및 전단파속도 획득은 시공 완료된 철도 상부노반에서 수행되었다. 전단파속도 획득 방법으로서 cross hole 방법이 사용되었으며, 수신기와 발신기의 중간 위치에서 동적 콘 관입시험이 수행되었다. 동일한 심도에서의 동적 콘 관입지수 및 전단파속도 비교 결과, 전단파속도는 결정계수가 0.8 이상인 동적 콘 관입지수의 거듭제곱 형태로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 동적 콘 관입기를 이용한 상부노반의 강도평가와 동시에 전단파속도 추정 방법으로써 유용하게 사용될 것이라 기대된다.

댐체 강화 RIM부 그라우팅을 위한 지반상태 기준 결정 (Determining of Ground Condition Criteria for Dam Reinforced RIM Grouting)

  • 댐체 구조물 사면부(RIM부)는 본체와 원지반이 접속하는 매우 중요한 접촉부(interface) 이다. 일반적으로 댐 구조물 사면부 지반보강을 위한 그라우팅 설계시 제한된 자료(시추공, 지질도 등)를 이용하여 계획하기 때문에 사면부 RIM 그라우팅 대상 원지반 특성을 정확하게 고려하여 설계하기는 매우 어려운 실정이다. 또한, 실제 차수성이 확보된 원지반에 설계시 계획된 그라우팅 물량을 천공 주입할 경우에는 차수성이 확보된 원지반이 교란되어 차수효과를 오히려 저해할 가능성도 있다. 이를 극복하기 위해서는 구조물 사면부(RIM) 그라우팅 수행 전에 지질여건을 우선적으로 고려하고 현장수리시험을 통하여 원지반에 대한 최적의 그라우팅을 실시여부를 결정하는 것이 기초처리 대상 지반의 차수성 확보에 매우 적합하다고 판단된다. 본 논문에 적용된 RIM부 그라우팅 판단여부를 결정하기 위하여 대상 구간의 사면구간 암반에 대하여, 파일럿 홀(Pilot hole) 수압시험 수행 분석결과 1 Lugeon 이하의 차수성을 나타내며, 시멘트 주입량 역시 1 kg/m 이하의 주입결과를 나타낸다. 이때는 그라우팅을 실시하는 것이 오히려 역효과가 난다고 판단된다. 이 시험결과 수치는 사면 절취시 육안관찰과 지질도 작성결과를 이용하여 분석할 때 댐 설계 기준인 1 Lugeon 이하의 경우가 되어, 괴상(Massive)의 차수성이 어느 정도 확보된 암반으로 평가할 수 있다. 따라서 댐체 구조물 사면부에 RIM 그라우팅의 실시 결정기준은 암반상태에서 1 Lugeon 차수성이고, 시멘트 주입량 역시 1 kg/m을 기준으로 하여 RIM 그라우팅 실시여부를 결정하는 것이 바람직하다고 판단된다.

반도체 산업의 SEMI S6에 따른 실험결과 및 누출률을 기준으로 한 증기 상 물질의 2차 누출 시 폭발위험장소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Explosion Hazardous Area in the Secondary Leakage of Vapor Phase Materials Based on the Test Results and the Leak Rate According to SEMI S6 in the Semiconductor Industry)

  • 현재 KS C IEC 60079-10-1 등에서 2차 누출 시 누출 구멍의 반경(hole radius)은 권고로 하여 표현되어 있다. 누출 구멍 크기의 과소평가는 누출률에 대한 계산 값의 과소평가로 이어질 수 있고, 안전상의 이유로 검토되는 누출 구멍 크기의 보수적인 계산은 과대평가로 이루어 질 수 있어 과대한 위험장소 범위로 나타낼 수 있기 때문에 이 또한 피해야 한다. 그러므로 누출 구멍의 크기를 추정할 때에는 신중하게 균형 잡힌 접근이 필요하다. 이러한 논리를 바탕으로 하여 금번 연구에서는 반도체 산업에서 적용되는 국제안전규격인 SEMI S6 기준에 따른 실험결과로 위험물질 누출 시 가스박스 내부 농도를 파악하여 안정성을 검토해보고 SEMI F15 누출률 기준, SEMI S6 누출률 기준에 따라 KS C IEC 60079-10-1의 공식을 적용하여 폭발위험장소의 범위 선정을 실시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 하여 향후 반도체 산업 등 폭발위험장소의 적용이 까다로운 FAB 설비의 대안으로 배기성능 향상이 필요한지 여부를 검토해보고자 한다.

  • The optimumultrasonic test conditions for the thin carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) sheet were determined for the immersed reflector plate method. The effects of the water distance, the surface conditions of the specimen and transducer characteristics were studied. For a reliable test the water distance between the transducer and the front surface of the specimen should be determined when the beam profile of the transducer appears in the bell-shape. The detectability of the defect was improved as the effective beam width of the ultrasonic transducer became narrow. The transducer should be properly chosen considering to the surface condition of the test material as well as the size and type of the defect to be detected. It was possible to detect the flat bottom hole whose diameter is as small as about 500 micrometer.

궤도차량용 휠의 내구성 예측을 위한 유한요소 해석 기법 연구 (Finite Element Analysis for the Prediction of Durability of Idler Wheel of Tracked Vehicle)

  • The idler wheel installed at the front side of the newly developed tracked vehicle didn't meet the durability requirement by showing the crack failure near the jointed region at the wheel during the field test. To find the crack developing mechanism we constructed finite element model for the idler wheel representing the behavior of interface between each suspension units, material properties from the material test data and actual loading conditions. This paper shows a result that maximum von Mises stress near the bolt hole on the outer rim is higher than inner idler coressponding to the actual test result and that result was reversed by adopting the reinforcement outside of the outer rim.

  • The in-pile Section (IPS) is subjected to flow-induced vibration(FIV) due to the flow of the primary coolant and then the structural integrity. The in-pile Section (IPS) of 3-pin Fuel Test Loop(FTL) shall be installed in the vortical hole call IR1 of HANARO reactor core. In order to verify the velocity and displacement both the inside region of IPS at the annular region of IPS, the vibration was measured by varing the flow rate on both regions. The displacements of fuel assembly in the in-pile Section (IPS) were found to be lower than the values of allowable design criteria.

Static and fatigue behavior of through-bolt shear connectors with prefabricated HFRC slabs

  • Twelve push-out test specimens were conducted with various parameters to study the static and fatigue performance of a new through-bolt shear connector transferring the shear forces of interface between prefabricated hybrid fiber reinforced concrete (HFRC) slabs and steel girders. It was found that the fibers could improve the fatigue life, capacity and initial stiffness of through-bolt shear connector. While the bolt-hole clearance reduced, the initial stiffness, capacity and slippage of through-bolt shear connector increased. After the steel-concrete interface properties were improved, the initial stiffness increased, and the capacity and slippage reduced. Base on the test results, the equation of the load-slip curve and capacity of through-bolt shear connector with prefabricated HFRC slab were obtained by the regression of test results, and the allowable range of shear force under fatigue load was recommended, which could provide the reference in the design of through-bolt shear connector with prefabricated HFRC slabs.

Enhanced Robust Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio

  • As wireless spectrum resources become more scarce while some portions of frequency bands suffer from low utilization, the design of cognitive radio (CR) has recently been urged, which allows opportunistic usage of licensed bands for secondary users without interference with primary users. Spectrum sensing is fundamental for a secondary user to find a specific available spectrum hole. Cooperative spectrum sensing is more accurate and more widely used since it obtains helpful reports from nodes in different locations. However, if some nodes are compromised and report false sensing data to the fusion center on purpose, the accuracy of decisions made by the fusion center can be heavily impaired. Weighted sequential probability ratio test (WSPRT), based on a credit evaluation system to restrict damage caused by malicious nodes, was proposed to address such a spectrum sensing data falsification (SSDF) attack at the price of introducing four times more sampling numbers. In this paper, we propose two new schemes, named enhanced weighted sequential probability ratio test (EWSPRT) and enhanced weighted sequential zero/one test (EWSZOT), which are robust against SSDF attack. By incorporating a new weight module and a new test module, both schemes have much less sampling numbers than WSPRT. Simulation results show that when holding comparable error rates, the numbers of EWSPRT and EWSZOT are 40% and 75% lower than WSPRT, respectively. We also provide theoretical analysis models to support the performance improvement estimates of the new schemes.
