Analysis for Performance Deviation of Individual Cells in a Multi-Cell Test System for Rapid-Screening of Electrode Materials in PEMFCs (고분자전해질 연료전지용 전극물질의 빠른 스크리닝을 위한 멀티셀 테스트 시스템에서 개별셀의 성능편차에 대한 분석)

  • A multi-cell test system with 25 independent cells is used to test different electrode materials simultaneously for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Twenty-five segmented membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) having the same or different Pt-loading are prepared to analyze the performance deviation of cells in the multi-cell test system. Improvements in the multi-cell test system are made by ensuring that the system performs voltage sensing for the cells individually and inserting optimum gaskets between the MEAs and the graphite plates. The cell performances are improved and their deviations are significantly decreased by these modifications. The performance deviations changed according to various cell configurations because the operating conditions of the cells, such as the gas flow and concentration, differed. This cell system can be used to test multiple electrodes simultaneously because it shows relatively uniform performance under the same conditions as well as linear correlation with various catalyst loadings.

A convergence study of cytotoxicity evaluation of adult dentifrices (성인용 치약의 세포독성 평가의 융합적 연구)

  • This study was conducted to effect the cell activity and cytotoxicity of dentifrice. For the study, 6 kinds of general dentifrice, 3 kind of whitening dentifrice, 2 kinds of natural dentifrice and SLS(sodium lauryl sulfate) of positive control group. Immortalized human gingiva fibroblast cell was used for the study, WST test for cell activity and Agar diffusion test for cytotoxicity. Agar diffusion test showed high cytotoxicity in general dentifrice test group and whitening dentifrice test group, but low cytotoxicity in natural dentifrice test group. As a result of cell nucleus staining, cell shape and nuclear activity showed that the highest activity in natural dentifrice group, followed by whitening dentifrice group and general dentifrice group. As a result of this study, the cytotoxicity of different ingredient and according to the use to dentifrice. As a result of this study, we confirm cytotoxicity of kind and components according to the purpose of using dentifrice. Therefore, it is necessary to indicate the detailed ingredients of dentifrice for the smart choice of consumers.

  • In order to investigate the phototoxicity of five phenothiazine derivatives and one thioxanthen derivative were examined by using in vitro method based on growth inhibition of Candida albicans and red blood cell hemolysis. Effects of the test compounds on RBCs were monitored with a spectrophotometer and a drug PI in the Candida albicans was calculated on the basis of the lowest concentration giving a yeast-free zone. All phenothiazines phototoxic in the red blood cell hemolysis method were positive in the yeast test except promethazine. It was also observed that toxic photo-products were formed by perphenazine and chlorpromazine in the red blood cell hemolysis.

Empirical Analysis on Rao-Scott First Order Adjustment for Two Population Homogeneity test Based on Stratified Three-Stage Cluster Sampling with PPS

  • National-wide and/or large scale sample surveys generally use complex sample design. Traditional Pearson chi-square test is not appropriate for the categorical complex sample data. Rao-Scott suggested an adjustment method for Pearson chi-square test, which uses the average of eigenvalues of design matrix of cell probabilities. This study is to compare the efficiency of Rao-Scott first order adjusted test to Wald test for homogeneity between two populations using 2009 Gyeongnam regional education offices's customer satisfaction survey (2009 GREOCSS) data. The 2009 GREOCSS data were collected based on stratified three-stage cluster sampling with probability proportional to size. The empirical results show that the Rao-Scott adjusted test statistic using only the variances of cell probabilities is very close to the Wald test statistic, which uses the covariance matrix of cell probabilities, under the 2009 GREOCSS data based. However it is necessary to be cautious to use the Rao-Scott first order adjusted test statistic in the place of Wald test because its efficiency is decreasing as the relative variance of eigenvalues of the design matrix of cell probabilities is increasing, specially more when the number of degrees of freedom is small.

  • We have analyzed electrical characteristics of spot light solar cell modules and have completed fabrication of spot light solar cell modules. Before we test modules, we have carried about UV test of hologram. As a result of test, we have obtained 165% efficiency of hologram film. the other hand, we obtained 75% efficiency of general films. After we have fabricated solar modules and carried about field test, spot light solar cell modules with hologram have been investigated 17.3 A of Isc and 155.4 W of power.

  • The bi-directional pile load test with variable end plate overcomes the shortcoming of the Osterberg cell test. It is possible that the ultimate bearing capacity of the bi-direction can be known by using the loading of the end plate and two step procedures. The first step is to confirming end bearing capacity with variable end plate and the second step is similar to the conventional O-cell test. In the study, To calculate ultimate capacity of bi-directional load test using model with the pile with variable end plate O-cell, operated with end plate of 3 type on sand layer according to the relative density, loose, medium and dense conditions.

  • Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. constructed a gas turbine engine test cell to verify operating characteristics and design parameters of 5MW class gas turbine engine for power generation under developing. Engine test cell was designed to satisfy critical requirements to scrutinize all performance parameters of the engine with safe and reliability in accordance with design specification. As the test cell developed can effectively reproduce engine operation conditions covering from start-up to maximum power condition, it can be utilized to make a continuing design improvement of the engine based on practical test data at full stretch. Moreover, it is expected to be serviceable to develop derivative engines and be utilized to put them into serial production and contribute to a competitiveness reenforcement as a gas turbine engine manufacturer.

  • The KTX-Sancheon has been commercially operating on the high-speed line since March. 2. In order to verify the performance of high-speed train and core equipments such as current collection system, sophisticated tests and evaluating procedures should have been considering. In this paper, the load cell with a built-in strain-gauge which developed to improve measuring method of contact force between the pantograph and catenary system is introduced. The static test results of the load cell shows that its design is very suitable and applicable for the dynamic test and on-line test. After the test and evaluation of load cell's dynamic calibration with pantograph, we will be applied to test interaction characteristics between the pantograph and catenary system on the high-speed line.

  • The performance improvement of each part for durability, safety and cost of high pressure storage system for fuel cell vehicle has been focused so far. However, for the mass production of fuel cell vehicle, it is necessary to evaluate durability and safety in system module and vehicle level. The test procedure to evaluate vibration and collision safety of high pressure hydrogen storage system for the fuel cell vehicle is established and its reliability is verified.

  • In this paper are presented main power and gasdynamic characteristics of hypersonic test cell of Research Test Center (RTC) of Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM). The distributions of temperature and Mach number at the exit of the aerodynamic nozzle of test cell are received at simulation conditions of flight at Mf=6. Values of available pressure difference and throttling characteristics for various operational modes of test cell, including the loading of working section by Scramjet model without the heating of air at entrance to the aerodynamic nozzle and with the heating of air, are received too.
