  • Corrosion is a world wide problem effecting a large number of structure. Cost of repair and rehabilitation on reinforcement structure damaged by steel corrosion is expensive. But structural capacity on low level corrosion is increased. So this experimental study was performed to know structural performance on reinforced concrete slabs with low level corroded bars. As in the case of test samples, bond stress and structural capacity increases up to 2% corrosion level.

  • In this paper, barrier panels against falling stones have been studied experimentally with various specimens. Test results show that stiffened barrier panels show more sufficient capacity than unstiffened barrier. Each type barrier panel can be used for various situations. New barrier panel is good for increasing strength and improving environment and maintaining cost down.

  • This paper presents an approach for thermal Unit Commitment by Lagrangian Relaxation with fuzzy technique. A proposed algorithm makes it possible to execute optimal decision making between Generation Cost and Load Demand with membership function. In order to test the validity of the proposed method, we applied to Mid-westerm utility system which has 20 thermal units. So, the usefulness of this method is verified.

  • Proposed herein is a shape design of a different rail support block with existing ones for the commercialization of the urban maglev. The rail support for existing test lines adopts monoblock steel sleeper, whereas an individual support system has been proposed to achieve an additional cost savings and to provide an emergency exit. Also, to enhance the easiness of installation and the repairability, alignment adjusting methods suitable for the new design have been devised.

  • As recent demands for cold rolling oil for steel, not only better lubricity, but cost reduction and improvement of work environment are increasingly required. In order to respond these demands, Nihon Parkerizing has developed rolling oils with completely new emulsification system. Comparing with conventional oils, the new system indicates better iron fine removability to maintain oil concentration, due to better iron fine dispersion, and superior mill stain resistance by spray stain test.

  • The purpose of this study is to reexamine our test method in the light ofstatistical methods for data interpretation. Our trial to apply Plackett-Burman statistical model in multifactorial welding experiments shows that is saves much time and cost and extracts very accurate results. In this study, the parametric effects of bead shape on pulse MIG process in Cu-Ni alloy are investigated for verifying our trial.

  • In this paper, physical properties of planting concrete using Recycled aggregates made with demolished concrete and construction wastes are investigated. According to the test results. It shows that recycled aggregates made with demolished concrete and construction wastes have low physical properties compared with crushed stone. But, recycled aggregates made with construction wastes shows better performance in absorption ratio, unit weight and thermal conductivity than crushed stone. According it is thought that they are available for being applied to planting concrete considering the sides of efficient recycling of construction wastes and saving the manufacturing cost.

  • The effectiveness of an actual combat tank system is analyzed. A measure of effectiveness which includes performance and reliability called pseudo-reliability is introduced. A model is introduced to optimize the design of the system in which the system pseudo-reliability is maximized subject to cost constraint. This model is a nonlinear programming problem and is solved by the sequential unconstrained minimization technique (SUMT). A numerical exampl with actual data from the test evaluation of five combat tanks is used to illustrate the model.

  • This paper considers the covering network design problem (CNDP). In the CNDP, an undirected graph is given where nodes correspond to potential facility sites and arcs to potential links connecting facilities. The objective of the CNDP is to identify the least cost connected subgraph whose nodes cover the given demand points. The problem difines a demand point to be covered if some node in the selected graph is present within an appropriate distance from the demand point. We present an integer programming formulation for the problem and develop a dual-based solution procedure. The computational results for randomly generated test problems are also shown.
