  • Barber bogie and Y25 bogie is the main bogie of freight car which is used in the Korean railway. In case of Barber bogie and a mixed formation tile maximum speed limit of empty car is 70 km/h and that of loaded car is 90 km/t and also it runs a speed of 110 km/h in time of an exclusive formation of Y25 bogie. The car named as high speed freight car at present is Y25 bogie which modeled on the Y25 bogie or Europe developed in 1993, Y25 bogie has no problem about the running capacity up to the speed of 110 km/h, but it works as limiting factors to tile increasing cost of maintenance and repair expenses which caused by repair of bogie and the cost of materials. This study is going to describe the contents examined by analysis and tests, aimed at being used as an index of plan in the future through the strength test of high speed freight car which is used now.

  • Restructuring and recent developments in the power system and problems arising from construction and maintenance of large power plants, increasing amount of interest in distributed generation (DG) source. Distributed generation units due to specifications, technology and location network connectivity can improve system and load point reliability indices. In this paper, the allocation and sizing of DG in distribution networks are determined using optimization. The objective function of the proposed method is to improve customer-based reliability indices at lowest cost. The placement and size of DGs are optimized using a Genetic Algorithm (GA). To evaluate the proposed algorithm, 34-bus IEEE test system, is used. The results illustrate efficiency of the proposed method.

  • Digital protective relay in power system play a prominent part. Simulators for the relay test were introduced in early 1980's. A number of open loop designs have been developed and recently, several developments of real-time simulators have been reported. But they are very high cost. And then they are difficult to apply for relay testing in small business. This paper presents the structure of low cost and performance of a new pc based tester for digital protective relay testing. The proposed tester was simulated of off-line with fault transient signals obtained from EMTP.

  • The levitation magnets for the UTM-01(Urban Transit Maglev) take up a substential portion of the vehicle weight and vehicle cost. It is thus very important to reduce the weight of magnets by improving their performance and also reduce the cost of making them. A very extensive study was conducted to achieve above goals. Shape of the magnet core was varied and various core materials were tested. Also tested was the anodized sheet coil to replace the currently used rectangular shape Al coil. The study so far has improved the performance of the magnet substantially. The levitation force-to-magnet weight ratio has been improved from 6.8 to 9.2 as a result. This improvement reduced to magnet weight of the UTM-01 test vehicle by 900 kg.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate various means of wind power turbines installation in the Korean west-south wind farm (Test bed 100 MW, Demonstrate site 400 MW). We presented the marine environment of the southwest offshore wind farm in order to decide the appropriate installation vessel to be used in this site. The various vessels would be WTIV (Wind turbine installation vessel), jack-up barge, or floating crane ${\cdots}$ etc. We analyzed the installation cost of offshore wind turbine and the transportation duration for each vessel. The analysis results showed the most suitable installation means for offshore wind turbine in the Korean west-south wind farm.

  • This work presents an iterative mesh partitioning approach to improve the efficiency of parallel substructure finite element computations. The proposed approach employs an iterative strategy with a set of empirical rules derived from the results of numerical experiments on a number of different finite element meshes. The proposed approach also utilizes state-of-the-art partitioning techniques in its iterative partitioning kernel, a cost function to estimate the computational cost of each submesh, and a mechanism that adjusts element weights to redistribute elements among submeshes during iterative partitioning to partition a mesh into submeshes (or substructures) with balanced computational workloads. In addition, actual parallel finite element structural analyses on several test examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach proposed herein. The results show that the proposed approach can effectively improve the efficiency of parallel substructure finite element computations.

  • Generation Expansion Planning (GEP) is one of the most important decision-making activities in electric utilities. Least-cost GEP is to determine the minimum-cost capacity addition plan (i.e., the type and number of candidate plants) that meets forecasted demand within a pre specified reliability criterion over a planning horizon. In this paper, Differential Evolution (DE), and Opposition-based Differential Evolution (ODE) algorithms have been applied to the GEP problem. The original GEP problem has been modified by incorporating Virtual Mapping Procedure (VMP). The GEP problem of a synthetic test systems for 6-year, 14-year and 24-year planning horizons having five types of candidate units have been considered. The results have been compared with Dynamic Programming (DP) method. The ODE performs well and converges faster than DE.

  • A semiconductor market is one of the most competitive markets in the world. To survive this competition, important targets for production planning are on-time delivery and profit maximization. In our research, we modify the linear programming model for the current production planning by adding new objective functions that maximize the profit. In addition, we propose a production planning process that gives a priority to new products, reflecting daily fluctuations in demand to weekly production planning. We validate our model with real data sets obtained from a major company semiconductor manufacturer and performed the paired t-test to verify the results. The results showed that our model forecasted profit and loss with 93.2% accuracy and improved the due date satisfaction by 10%.

  • Smart city is currently the main direction of development. The automatic management of instrumentation is one task of the smart city. Because there are a lot of old instrumentation in the city that cannot be replaced promptly, how to makes low-cost transformation with Internet of Thing (IoT) becomes a problem. This article gives a low-cost method that can identify code wheel instrument information. This method can effectively identify the information of image as the digital information. Because this method does not require a lot of memory or complicated calculation, it can be deployed on a cheap microcontroller unit (MCU) with low read-only memory (ROM). At the end of this article, test result is given. Using this method to modify the old instrumentation can achieve the automatic management of instrumentation and can help build a smart city.
