  • This paper discusses the mathematical modeling of a small scale ducted-fan UAV and examines its results in comparison to the wind tunnel test. A wind tunnel test is first performed, producing a substantial amount of test data. The acquired set of wind tunnel test data is then categorized and approximated as mathematical functions. Finally, the mathematically modeled forces and moments acting on the UAV are compared with the acquired wind tunnel data. The analysis involves a gradient-based algorithm and is applied to extract trim states with respect to various flight conditions. Consequently, a numerical analysis demonstrates that there exists a reasonable flight status with respect to airspeed.

  • PURPOSES : Evaluation of input parameters determination procedure for dynamic analysis of aggregates in DEM. METHODS : In this research, the aggregate slump test and angularity test were performed as fundamental laboratory tests to determine input parameters of spherical particles in DEM. The heights spreads, weights of the simple tests were measured and used to calibrate rolling and static friction coefficients of particles. RESULTS : The DEM simulations with calibrated parameters showed good agreement with the laboratory test results for given dynamic condition. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that the employed calibration method can be applicable to determine rolling friction coefficient of DEM simulation for given dynamic conditions. However, further research is necessary to connect the result to the behavior of aggregate in packing and mixing process and to refine static friction coefficient.

  • In this study, we consider the likelihood ratio test for the covariance matrix of the multivariate normal data. For this, we propose a method for obtaining null distributions of the likelihood ratio statistics by the Monte-Carlo approach when it is difficult to derive the exact null distributions theoretically. Then we compare the performance and precision of distributions obtained by the asymptotic normality and the Monte-Carlo method for the likelihood ratio test through a simulation study. Finally we discuss some interesting features related to the likelihood ratio test for the covariance matrix and the Monte-Carlo method for obtaining null distributions for the likelihood ratio statistics.

  • In order to supplement a diagnostic method for detection of infectious cattle to bovine tuberculosis, performed ELISA for detection of antibody to if bovis in serum and milk. The diagnostic efficacy of the established ELISA was compared with test of the tuberculin skin test for bovine tuberculosis. The positive corresponding rate of serum ELISA and tuberculin skin test showed 84.3%, milk ELISA and tuberculin skin test showed 75.0%, milk ELISA and serum ELISA showed 75.0% respectively. Comparison of the serum and milk to tuberculin antibody concentration in tuberculin positive cattle, the milk contained 1/100-1/150 concentration compared serum tuberculin concentration. The established ELISA was considered efficient for detection of antibodies to M bovis in serum and milk.

  • Five key items were used to create an economical and physically small impact test device for concrete panels subject to high speed collision: an air-compressive system, carbon steel pipe, solenoid valve, carrier and carrier-blocking, and velocity measurement device. The impact test device developed can launch a 20 mm steel spherical projectile at over 200 m/s with measured impact and/or residual velocity. Purpose for development was to conduct preliminary materials tests, prior to large-scale collision experiments. In this paper, the design process of the small impact test device was discussed in detail.

  • The central purpose of the current research is to identify how 12-week bodybuilding exercise affects muscle dysmorphia. The research subjects consisted of an experimental group and a control group, each with 16 freshmen at college. MDI(muscle dysmorphic inventory), developed by Schlundt, Woodford, Brownlee(2000) was utilized to collect relevant data, which was analyzed by PASW 18.0. An independent two sample t-test was conducted to see whether there exists any significant difference between the two groups in the pre- and the post-tests. A paired t-test, in turn, was performed to identify whether there is any difference between the two tests for each group. The statistical significance level was set at p<.05. It was found that the experimental group marked a higher level of muscle dysmorphia than the control group in the pre-test. It was also found that muscle dysmorphia of the experimental group increased in the post-test, while no significant difference was manifested in the control group in the post-test.

  • An experiment was performed using the large-scale test facility (LSTF), which simulated a 1% vessel upper head small-break loss-of-coolant accident with an accident management (AM) measure under an assumption of total-failure of high-pressure injection (HPI) system in a pressurized water reactor (PWR). In the LSTF test, liquid level in the upper head affected break flow rate. Coolant was manually injected from the HPI system into cold legs as the AM measure when the maximum core exit temperature reached 623 K. The cladding surface temperature largely increased due to late and slow response of the core exit thermocouples. The AM measure was confirmed to be effective for the core cooling. The RELAP5/MOD3.3 code indicated insufficient prediction of primary coolant distribution. The author conducted uncertainty analysis for the LSTF test employing created phenomena identification and ranking table for each component. The author clarified that peak cladding temperature was largely dependent on the combination of multiple uncertain parameters within the defined uncertain ranges.

  • The purpose of the present study is to compare the differences in levels per group of high school students regarding the self-regulated learning factors for mathematics. For this purpose, a self-regulated learning measurement tool was developed and surveys were conducted. And the statistical analysis was completed using the frequency analysis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis H test. As a result, it is found that self-efficacy is of statistically significant differences in self-regulated learning levels regardless of the group classifications but test anxiety does not show statistically significant differences in self-regulated learning levels regardless of the group classifications.

  • Endotoxin has been detected by the Limulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL) test. However, aluminum hydroxide used as an adjuvant and adsorbent for the recombinant protein antigen is known to increase efficacy of lipopolysaccharide vaccine in vivo thus interfering endotoxin test. The aim of this study is to determine effect of aluminum hydroxide on the LAL test using the hepatitis B vaccine as a model and to optimize the LAL test condition not to be interfered by aluminum gydroxide. • Accurate measurements of the heat transfer coefficients of concentric annular space for the test section is important to measure the tube-side heat transfer coefficients of working fluids. This paper presents the annular side heat transfer coefficients of concentric annuli with variation of tube diameter ratios using Wilson plot method. The test facility has a straight, horizontal test section with an active length of 3.0 m. Inner/outer diameters of test tubes are 7.0/7.5 and 8.0/8.56 mm, respectively. An outer diameter of annulus side is 16.0 mm. The test results show that convective heat transfer coefficients in annuli increase with annular diameter ratio. The correlations for convective heat transfer coefficients in annuli are also developed.
