THE METHOD OF ASYMPTOTIC INNER BOUNDARY CONDITION FOR SINGULAR PERTURBATION PROBLEMS

  • The method of Asymptotic Inner Boundary Condition for Singularly Perturbed Two-Point Boundary value Problems is presented. By using a terminal point, the original second order problem is divided in to two problems namely inner region and outer region problems. The original problem is replaced by an asymptotically equivalent first order problem and using the stretching transformation, the asymptotic inner condition in implicit form at the terminal point is determined from the reduced equation of the original second order problem. The modified inner region problem, using the transformation with implicit boundary conditions is solved and produces a condition for the outer region problem. We used Chawla's fourth order method to solve both the inner and outer region problems. The proposed method is iterative on the terminal point. Some numerical examples are solved to demonstrate the applicability of the method.

  • If the research on double cycle is revitalized, crane productivity will be rapidly improved bemuse double cycle is an operational technique that can maximize equipments efficiency (Quay crane, RMG/RTG, Yard tractor). Unfortunately, it is very difficult for terminal operators to find out the starting point of double cycle bemuse the loading & unloading pattern and conditions are various. Therefore, terminal operators are apt to fail to find out the optimal starting point of double cycle to maximize its frequency. Experiencing the same mistakes in the process we made efforts to find out the optimal starting point, finally we found out the formula for it. And we verified its precision is perfect through a lot of testing. This paper on double cycling focused on making the formula to find out optimal starting point of double cycle to maximize its frequency. And it can be applied to various ships' stowages in common.

Biochemical characteristics of functional domains using feline foamy virus integrase mutants

  • We constructed deletion mutants and seven point mutants by polymerase chain reaction to investigate the specificity of feline foamy virus integrase functional domains. Complementation reactions were performed for three enzymatic activities such as 3'-end processing, strand transfer, and disintegration. The complementation reactions with deletion mutants showed several activities for 3'-end processing and strand transfer. The conserved central domain and the combination of the N-terminal or C-terminal domains increased disintegration activity significantly. In the complementation reactions between deletion and point mutants, the combination between D107V and deletion mutants revealed 3'-end processing activities, but the combination with others did not have any activity, including strand transfer activities. Disintegration activity increased evenly, except the combination with glutamic acid 200. These results suggest that an intact central domain mediates enzymatic activities but fails to show these activities in the absence of the N-terminal or C-terminal domains.

VAV 터미널 박스의 최소풍량 제어방식 비교 연구 (A Study on the Comparison Analysis of Minimum Airflow Control Logic of VAV Terminal Box)

  • The minimum airflow of VAV terminal boxes is a key factor for comfort, indoor air quality(IAQ) and energy cost. If the minimum airflow is not reasonable, it would waste energy and make IAQ problems. There are two types of VAV terminal box control logic. One is the single maximum, another is the dual maximum control logic. Dual maximum control logic is more efficiency way to reduce the energy consumption. It has a minimum airflow set point and a heating maximum set point. It allows the minimum airflow set point to be much lower than single maximum control logic. A building simulation was conducted to evaluate the energy consumption and the IAQ according to the control logic of the V AV terminal box. In the simulation, dual maximum control logic can save the energy up to 6.5% compared to the single maximum control logic.

전립선 전용 전자쑥뜸 발열단자의 개발 (Development of the Special Heat Generating Terminal of Cauterizer for Prostate)

  • Objectives : The conventional direct and indirect moxibustion therapies for prostate treatment could not been applied to the acupuncture point of $CV_1$(Conception Vessel Meridian 1, 會陰) because of its boring body region. The position of $CV_1$(會陰) is the back side of hard part between the anus and the genital organ. The conventional moxibustion methods have many troubles in operating to the acupuncture point of $CV_1$(會陰). In order to get rid of these problems, we have suggested the special heat generating terminal especially for prostate. The features of the special heat generating terminal for prostate are the low temperature infrared heater and the adhesive moxa-pad. These features are no burnt, no fiery and especially suitable for the point of $CV_1$(會陰). Methods: The heat generating terminal which is a part of the moxa-extract moxibustion cauterizer is composed of a PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficients) ceramic heater and the adhesive moxa-pad We had got the experimental demonstrations by the stimulating the acupuncture points which are $CV_1$(會陰), $BL_{28}$(Bladder Meridian 28, 膀胱兪), and $CV_3$(Conception Vessel Meridian 3, 中極) with the special heat generating terminal for the prostatitis and the benign prosthetic hypertrophy. And the stimulation level was 43$^{\circ}C$ infrared heat for one hour. The type of thermography is IRIS-5000. Results : With one subject suffering the prostatitis and another subject suffering the benign prosthetic hypertrophy, we cauterized the acupuncture points $CV_1$(會陰), $BL_{28}$(膀胱兪) and $CV_3$(中極) with the special heat generating terminal for prostate. We measured the temperature variations by the thermography before and after stimulations. Finally we estimated the tendency of temperature decreasing in the region of post-stroke urinary symptoms and the improvement of nocturnal enuresis after the stimulations. Conclusions : We suggest that the special heat generating terminal of moxa-extract moxibustion cauterizer proposed herein is effective for the treatment of prostate by NIH-CPSI and IPSS.

  • Phenomena of streaming electrification of insulting oil(T.O) is studied where the oil is contacted with solid insulating materials when it is pumped through a circulating system in a large power transformer. The leakage current, the electrical potential at the neutral terminal point of the transformer and the surface electrical potential of the oil are investigated. And the leakage current from the neutral terminal point is measured as a function of a bias polarity applied to a transformer case to investigate the polarty of ion which is absorbed in the case at the interface between the case and oil. As a result, it is found that insulating materials, and it is suggested that the leakage current is the sum of the relaxation current by positive charge from insulating oil to the neutral terminal point and by electrification current from negative charge electrified by the contact with solid insulating materials.

소규모 물량을 가진 간선수송문제의 수송계획 (Truck Scheduling for Linehaul Operations with Small Amount of Shipment)

  • One of the most important problems encountered by parcel transportation firms or LTL (Less-than-truckload) firms is the planning of daily linehaul operations. The transportation firm's goal is to determine the most efficient way to move all freight from its originating terminal to its destination terminal after each shipment is picked up from the shipping dock. The purpose of this study is to design a transportation system and develop an efficient scheduling algorithm for linehaul operations carrying small amount of shipment. This paper presents three approaches for efficient linehaul operations. The first approach examines drivers using the roundtrips which start from a terminal, visit several terminals, and return to the starting terminal. The second approach uses a freight assembly center where drivers take freight for a number of destination terminals which they then swap for freight for their starting terminal. The third approach is similar to the second approach in that it uses a transshipment point like a freight assembly terminal for shipment, but it has several transshipment points since each shipment may have a different transshipment point. In this study, we developed a mathematical formulation and algorithm for each approach. The experimental results using data of a LTL firm show that the third approach is more efficient than the other two. Mileage and overnight stays of the third approach are reduced by 10% and 30%, respectively.

인간 포미바이러스 인테그라제 돌연변이의 특성 (Characterization of Human Foamy Virus Integrase Mutant)

  • Human foamy virus (HFV) integrase mediates integration of viral c-DNA into cellular DNA. In this process, HFV integrase recognizes its own viral DNA specifically and catalyzes insertion of viral c-DNA. In order to study catalytic domains and residues, three deletion mutants and two point mutants of HFV integrase were constructed and analyzed with respect to enzymatic activities. The C-terminal deletion mutant showed decreased enzymatic activities while the N-terminal deletion mutant lost the activities completely, indicating that the N-terminal domain is more important than the C-terminal domain in enzymatic reaction. The point mutants, in which an aspartic acid at the 164th position or a glutamic acid at the 200th position of the HFV integrase protein was changed to an alanine, lost the enzymatic activities completely. However, they were well complemented with other defective deletion mutants to recover enzymatic activities partially. Therefore, these results suggest that the aspartic acid and glutamic acid at the respective 164th and 200th positions are catalytic residues for enzymatic reaction.

  • B-ISDN 사용자 망 접면에서 호/연결 제어를 위한 신호 기능은 ITU-T의 Q.2931과 ATM Forum의 UNI 3.1이 대표적이다. 점대점 호/연결 제어 절차를 제공하는 Q.2931은 공중망을 구성하는 장치에 적용이 되며, ATM Forum의 UNI 3.1은 여러 가지의 단말 장치 위주의 ATM 사설망을 구성하는데 적용된다. 국내의 B-ISDN 개발 사업에서는 방 장치인 ATM소형 교환기, B-NT 등과 단말장치인 B-TA등을 개발하였다. 그러나 B-ISDN에서 다양한 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 여러 종류의 단말장치들을 필요로 한다. 공중망에서 UNI 3.1 단말 장치를 수용할 수 있다면, 여러 종류의 단말장치들을 확보할 수 있으므로 매우 효율적이다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 B-ISDN 공중망에 UNI 3.1 단말 장치를 접속하여 점대점 신호 절차 수행 시에 발생할 수 있는 문제점들을 예측하고, 호/연결이 원만하게 진행될 수 있는 방안들을 제안한다.

Critical Factors for Container Terminal Productivity

  • The awareness of the high-value industry for container terminal leads competitiveness of container terminals to keep high fiercely. In regards to competitive factors of container terminal, the most important point among several factors is seemed to be the speed of container loading and unloading on quayside. In container terminals in Korea, the productivity shows big difference even though its condition is similar to each terminal. The objective of this paper is to find the critical factors of container terminal productivity, which is dependant upon the capability, quantity of quay crane, transfer vehicle, and so on. For this purpose, we have researched related literatures, and collected data about container terminals in South Korea. Furthermore, we tested sensitive analysis to evaluate the extent of productivity by changing independent variable. And then we established the regression model to evaluate which factor has had the biggest impact on productivity. The results of this paper can give terminal operators guideline to improve productivity.
