In this study, hydroformability and mechanical properties of pre- and post- heat treated Al6061 tubes at different extrusion type were investigated. For the investigation, as-extruded, full annealed and T6-treated Al6061 tubes at different extrusion type were prepared. To evaluate the hydroformability, uni-axial tensile test and free bulge test were performed at room temperature and $250^{\circ}C$. Also mechanical properties of hydroformed part at various pre- and post-heat treatments were estimated by tensile test. And the tensile test specimens were obtained from hexagonal prototype hydroformed tube at $250^{\circ}C$. As for the heat treatment, hydroformability of full annealed tube is 25% higher than that of extruded tube. The tensile strength and elongation were more than 330MPa and 12%, respectively, when hydroformed part was post-T6 treated after hydroforming of pre- full annealed tube. However, hydroformed part using T6 pre treated tube represents high strength and low elongation, 8%. Therefore, the T6 treatment after hydroforming for as-extruded tube is cost-effective. Hydroformability of Al6061 tube showed similar value for both extrusion types. But flow stress of seam tube showed $20{\sim}50MPa$ lower value.
The study of bond behavior between concrete and rebar has been performed for a long time. On this study, we tried to analysed variation of bond behaviors quantitatively with varying the strength of concrete. Bond stress which observed below the neutral surface of beam and at connecting part of beam and column is affected by various bond parameters. Resistance of deformed bars which embedded in concrete to the pullout force is divided 1) chemical adhesive force 2) frictional force 3) mechanical resistance of ribs to the concrete and these horizontal components of resistance is being bond strength. We selected the most common and typical variable which is concrete strength among various variables. So we used two kinds of concrete strength like as 25MPa(NSC) and 65MPa(HSC). Tension Test was performed to verify how bond behavior varied with two kinds of concrete strength. Concentration of bond stress was observed at load-end commonly in Tension Test of the initial load stage. At this stage stress distribution was almost coincident at each strength. As tension load added, this stress distribution had difference gradually and movement of pick point of bond stress to free-end and central section was observed. This tendency was observed at first and moving speed was more fast in NSC. At the preceeding result the reason of this phenomenon is considered to discretion of chemical adhesion and local failure of concrete around rebar in load-end direction. Especially, when concrete strength was increased 2.6 times in tension test, ultimate bond strength was increased 1.45 times. In most recent used building codes, bond strength is proportioned to sqare root of concrete compressive strength but comparison of normalized ultimate bond strength was considered that the higher concrete strength is, the lower safety factor of bond strength is in each strength if we use existing building codes. In Tension Test, in case of initial tensile force state, steel tensile stress of central cross section is not different greatly at each strength but tensile force increasing, that of central cross section in NSC was increased remarkably. Namely, tensile force which was shared in concrete in HSC was far greater than that of concrete in NSC at central section.
Mechanical property evaluation of micrometer-sized structures is necessary to help design reliable microelectromechanical systems(MEMS) devices. Most material properties are known to exhibit dependence on specimen size and such properties of microscale structures are not well characterized. This paper describes techniques developed for tensile testing of materials used in MEMS. Epi-polycrystalline silicon is currently the most widely used material, and its tensile strength has been measured as 1.52GPa. We have developed an uniaxial testing machine for testing microscale specimen using electro-magnetic actuator. The field magnet and the moving coil taken from an audio-speaker were utilized as the components of the actuator. Structure of specimen was designed and manufactured for easy handling and alignment. In addition to the static tensile tests, new techniques and procedures for measuring strength are described.
The mechanical characteristics of AC4C Aluminum Casting Alloy were investigated by tensile test and impact test. Based on the tensile test' s result, we found that the yield strength of a high speed was about 10% higher than that of a low speed test and the maximum rupture strain mostly occurred in low speed tensile test. The impact energy of curved surface specimen was higher than that of plane surface specimen that can be measured in impact test.

A study on friction welding of stainless steel bar(SUS431) to chrome molybdenum steel bar(SCM21) was accomplished experimentally through analysis for relations among friction welding conditions, tension test, hardness test, microstructure test and acoustic emission test. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1. Through friction welding of SUS431 bar to SCM21 bar, the optimum welding condition by considering on strength and toughness was found to be the range of heating time of 3-5 sec when the number of rotating speed of 2000rpm, heating pressure of 10kg/$mm^2$, and upsetting time of 4 sec. 2. Quantitative ralationship was identified between heating time($T_1$, sec) and tensile strength (${\sigma},\;kgf/mm^2$) of the friction welded joint and the relation equation is $\sigma$=52.62$T_1{^{0.06}}$. 3. Through AE test, quantitative relationship was confirmed between heating time($T_1$, sec) and total AE(N, counts) during welding, and the relation is computed as follows ; N=30413.6$e^{0.06T1}$. 4. It was confirmed that the quantitative ralationship exists between the tensile strength of the welded joints and AE cumulative counts. And the relation is computed as the following ; ${\sigma}$=16.37(ln N)- 116.4. 5. When ONZ=36500-41500 counts by $OT_1Z$=3~5sec, it was identified by experiment that the range of welded joint tensile strength is 55.6-57.7kgf/$mm^2$/ whose joint efficiency is more than 100%, and it was experimentally confirmed that the real-time nondestructive quality(strength) evaluation for the friction welded joints could be possible by acoustic emission technique.
In this paper, static and fatigue load tests for the specimens, components and carbody were carried out to investigate the strength of welded joints in aluminum rolling stock. Tensile load test results showed that the static strength of welded joint for heat-treated alloys is reduced significantly and fatigue strengths are scattered by the welding imperfections. Component and whole carbody fatigue test results showed agreements with the design fatigue strength standards for specimens of same joint detail. Test results revealed that full penetration welding and strict management of welding procedure are crucial for securing strength of welded joint in aluminum carbody.
Superior to traditional welded studs, high strength friction-grip bolted shear connectors facilitate the assembling and demounting of the composite members, which maximizes the potential for efficiency in the construction and retrofitting of new and old structures respectively. Hence, it is necessary to investigate the structural properties of high strength friction-grip bolts used in steel concrete composite beams. By means of push-out tests, an experimental study was conducted on post-installed high strength friction-grip bolts, considering the effects of different bolt size, concrete strength, bolt tensile strength and bolt pretension. The test results showed that bolt shear fracture was the dominant failure mode of all specimens. Based on the load-slip curves, uplifting curves and bolt tensile force curves between the precast concrete slab and steel beam obtained by push-out tests, the anti-slip performance of steel-concrete interface and shear behavior of bolt shank were studied, including the quantitative analysis of anti-slip load, and anti-slip stiffness, frictional coefficient, shear stiffness of bolt shank and ultimate shear capacity. Meanwhile, the interfacial anti-slip stiffness and shear stiffness of bolt shank were defined reasonably. In addition, a total of 56 push-out finite element models verified by the experimental results were also developed, and used to conduct parametric analyses for investigating the shear behavior of high-strength bolted shear connectors in steel-concrete composite beams. Finally, on ground of the test results and finite element simulation analysis, a new design formula for predicting shear capacity was proposed by nonlinear fitting, considering the bolt diameter, concrete strength and bolt tensile strength. Comparison of the calculated value from proposed formula and test results given in the relevant references indicated that the proposed formulas can give a reasonable prediction.
Recently, HIPS(High Impact Polystyrene) materials are spot-lighted as office equipment, home electronics, electronics appliances housing, packing containers, etc. But its using are occur to problem caused by fatigue fracture. However, its strength is larged affected by environmental conditions. So, in this paper it tried to analyze the effect of temperature by tensile test and fatigue test. It was observed that yield strength and ultimate strength, fatigue life of same stress decreased relatively with increase temperature. Further, this paper predict S-N curve using the result of tensile test and micro vickers hardness test. For this purpose, the management in the engineering department is able to design the fatigue life of HIPS(HR-1360) materials.
Four types of high Mn TWIP(Twinning Induced Plasticity) steels were fabricated by varying the Mn and Al content, and the tensile properties were measured at various strain rates and temperatures. An examination of the tensile properties at room temperature revealed an increase in strength with increasing strain rate because mobile dislocations interacted rapidly with the dislocations in localized regions, whereas elongation and the number of serrations decreased. The strength decreased with increasing temperature, whereas the elongation increased. A martensitic transformation occurred in the 18Mn, 22Mn and 18Mn1.6Al steels tested at $-196^{\circ}C$ due to a decrease in the stacking fault energies with decreasing temperature. An examination of the tensile properties at $-196^{\circ}C$ showed that the strength of the non-Al added high Mn TWIP steels was high, whereas the elongation was low because of the martensitic transformation and brittle fracture mode. Although a martensitic transformation did not occur in the 18Mn1.9Al steel, the strength increased with decreasing temperature because many twins formed in the early stages of the tensile test and interacted rapidly with the dislocations.
