A KMTNet search for RR Lyrae Stars in the Crater II Ultra-Faint Dwarf Galaxy

  • We report the first detection of RR Lyrae variable stars in the Crater II dwarf galaxy, a recently discovered ultra-faint satellite of the Milky Way. Based on B, V time series photometry obtained with the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) at CTIO, Chile, we have identified ~45 fundamental-mode (ab-type) and ~2 first-overtone (c-type) RR Lyrae stars by adopting template light-curve fitting method. Our preliminary analysis suggests an Oosterhoff-intermediate classification of this galaxy from the mean period of the RRab stars, <$P_{ab}$> ${\simeq}0.63$ days, and the location of them on the period-amplitude diagram. We discuss the properties of the RR Lyare stars in this galaxy.

  • This paper describes an algorithm that can efficiently analyze the multichannel ECG signal using the frame. The input is a set of significant features (points) which have been extracted from an original sampled signal by using the split-and-merge algorithm. A signal from each channel can be hierarchical ADN/OR graph on the basis of the priori knowledge for ECG signal. The search mechanisms with some heuristics and the mixed paradigms of data-driven hypothesis formation are used as the major control mechanisms. The mutual relations among features are also considered by evaluating a score based on the relational spectrum. For recognition of morphologies corresponding to OR nodes, an hypothesis modification strategy is used. Other techniques such as instance, priority update of prototypes, and template matching facility are also used. This algorithm exactly recognized the primary points and supporting points from the multichannel ECG signals.

Anti-Apoptosis Engineering Using a Gene of Bombyx mori

  • We have previously shown that the addition of silkworm hemolymph to a culture medium increases the longevity of insect and mammalian cells by inhibiting apoptosis. This indicates that the component which inhibits apoptosis is contained in the silkworm hemolymph, The apoptosis-inhibiting component was isolated from silkwonn hemolymph and characterized in our previous study. A database search using the N-terminal amino acid sequence of this component as a template resulted in a 95% homology with a low molecular weight lipoprotein, the so called ’30K protein' of unknown function. In this study, the 30K protein gene was expressed in mammalian and insect cells to confirm the apoptosis-inhibiting effect. The overexpression of 30K protein in mammalian cell inhibited the staurosporin-induced apoptosis by the prevention of the activation of caspase 3. Using an Autographa californicanuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV) system, the 30K protein was overexpressed also in insect cells. The expression of the 30K protein increased the longevity of baculovirus-infected insect cells by inhibiting apoptosis. These results suggest that the 30K protein is a novel anti-apoptotic protein.

  • This paper proposes a face detection and recognition method that combines the template matching method and the eigenface method with the neural network. In the face extraction step, the skin color information is used. Therefore, the search region is reduced. The global property of the face is achieved by the eigenface method. Face recognition is performed by a neural network that can learn the face property.

Guitar Tab Digit Recognition and Play using Prototype based Classification

  • This paper is to recognize and play tab chords from guitar musical sheets. The musical chord area of an input image is segmented by changing the image in saturation and applying the Grabcut algorithm. Based on a template matching, our approach detects tab starting sections on a segmented musical area. The virtual block method is introduced to search blanks over chord lines and extract tab fret segments, which doesn't cause the computation loss to remove tab lines. In the experimental tests, the prototype based classification outperforms Bayesian method and the nearest neighbor rule with the whole set of training data and its performance is similar to that of the support vector machine. The experimental result shows that the prediction rate is about 99.0% and the number of selected prototypes is below 3.0%.

  • This paper proposes automatic generation method of proxy client code to automation of web service selection process through a monitoring agent. The technique of this paper help service consumer to provide source code of proxy client as it bring an attribute value of specific element of WSDL document using template rule. Namely, a XSLT script file provide code frame of dynamic invocation interface model. The automatic code generation technique need to solving starvation status of selection architecture. It is required to creating request HTTP message for every service on the result of search. The created proxy client program code generate dummy message about services. The proposed client code generation method show us a possibility of application in the automatic generation programming domain.

Improve Stability of Military Infrared Image and Implement Zynq SoC (군사용 적외선 영상의 안정화 성능 개선 및 Zynq SoC 구현)

  • Military camera equipment has a problem that observability is inferior due to various shaking factors. In this paper, we propose an image stabilization algorithm considering performance and execution time to solve this problem and implemented it in Zynq SoC. We stabilized both the simple shaking in the fixed observation position and the sudden shaking in the moving observation position. The feature of the input image is extracted by the Sobel edge algorithm, the subblock with the large edge data is selected, and the motion vector, which is the compensation reference, is calculated through template matching using the 3-step search algorithm of the region of interest. In addition, the proposed algorithm can distinguish the shaking caused by the simple shaking and the movement by using the Kalman filter, and the stabilized image can be obtained by minimizing the loss of image information. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, experiments on various images were performed. In comparison, PSNR is improved in the range of 2.6725~3.1629 (dB) and image loss is reduced from 41% to 15%. On the other hand, we implemented the hardware-software integrated design using HLS of Xilinx SDSoC tool and confirmed that it operates at 32 fps on the Zynq board, and realized SoC that operates with real-time processing.

Real-Time Object Detection System Based on Background Modeling in Infrared Images (적외선영상에서 배경모델링 기반의 실시간 객체 탐지 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose an object detection method for real-time in infrared (IR) images and PowerPC (PPC) and H/W design based on field programmable gate array (FPGA). An open H/W architecture has the advantages, such as easy transplantation of HW and S/W, support of compatibility and scalability for specification of current and previous versions, common module design using standardized design, and convenience of management and maintenance. Proposed background modeling for an open H/W architecture design decreases size of search area to construct a sparse block template of search area in IR images. We also apply to compensate for motion compensation when image moves in previous and current frames of IR sensor. Separation method of background and objects apply to adaptive values through time analysis of pixel intensity. Method of clutter reduction to appear near separated objects applies to median filter. Methods of background modeling, object detection, median filter, labeling, merge in the design embedded system execute in PFC processor. Based on experimental results, proposed method showed real-time object detection through global motion compensation and background modeling in the proposed embedded system.

내용기반 웹 서비스 검색 엔진의 개발

  • 웹 서비스는 사용자가 다양한 인터페이스 정의와 교환 메시지 형식을 가지는 서비스를 개발하는데 있어 보다 효과적이고 단일화된 방법을 제공한다. 웹 서비스에서 인터페이스 정의와 교환 메시지 형식은 WSDL 통해 정의되며, 이 WSDL 문서를 통해 이용할 서비스의 인터페이스와 교환 메시지 형식을 파악하여 빠르게 해당 서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 한다. 이러한 웹 서비스의 등록과 검색을 위해서는 레지스트리 방식을 이용한다. 개발된 서비스에 관한 설명 정보는 서비스 제공자에 의해 작성되어 레지스트리에 등록되며, 서비스 요청자는 레지스트리로부터 필요한 서비스를 검색하여 이용한다. UDDI는 웹 서비스를 위한 분산 레지스트리 표준으로 웹 서비스를 위한 등록과 검색 메커니즘을 제공한다. UDDI에서 지원하는 검색 메커니즘은 크게 키워드 검색과 비즈니스와 서비스에 대한 카테고리별 검색으로 구분된다. 키워드 기반 검색은 SQL LIKE 연산을 통해 비즈니스와 서비스의 이름에 대하여 부분 문자열이 일치하는지 검사하는 방식으로 이루어진다. 이러한 UDDI 의 키워드 기반 검색은 등록된 서비스의 이름 이외의 내용 정보에 대한 검색을 지원하지 못하므로 효과적인 검색을 지원하지 못하는 단점을 가진다. 또한 UDDI는 WSDL 문서의 내용에 대한 검색은 지원하지 못하는 단점을 가진다. 이에 따라 현대의 서비스 검색은 서비스의 이름에 대한 검색만을 지원한다. 이러한 현재의 웹 서비스 검색에서의 문제점을 해결하기 위해서는 UDDI 에 등록된 설명 정보와 WSDL 문서 모두에 대한 내용 기반의 검색을 지원하고 검색 결과를 순위화 (ranking)하여 제시할 수 있는 검색 엔진이 요구된다. 이 논문은 이러한 문제점들을 해결할 수 있도록 내용 기반 검색을 지원할 수 있는 웹 서비스를 위 한 검색 엔진을 제안한다. 제안한 검색 엔진은 UDDI 등록 정보에 대하여 내용 기반 검색을 수행할 수 있도록 벡터 공간 모델을 활용한 유사도 비교 방법을 이용한다. 또한 UDDI 등록 정보 외에 실질 적인 서비스의 인터페이스와 교환 메시지 형식에 대한 비교의 수행을 위하여 WSDL 문서에 대한 유사도 비교를 수행한다. 유사도 측정시 UDDI 등록 정보와 WSDL 문서와 같은 계층적인 문서 구조를 검색 결과에 반영할 수 있는 방법을 지원한다. 지원하는 검색 방법은 두 가지로 키워드 검색과 함께 텀플릿 검색을 지원한다. 템플릿 검색은 서비스의 등록 정보 외에 인터페이스 정의가 얼마나 일치하는지를 비교하기 위해 WSDL 문서에 대한 유사도를 비교할 수 있도록 한다. 이러한 검색의 지원을 통해 제안한 웹 서비스를 위한 검색 엔진은 기존의 레지스트리를 이용한 검 색 방법보다 정확한 검색 결과를 제공한다.

  • In this paper we propose a very rapid moving object tracking method for an object-based auto focus on a smart phone camera. By considering the limit of non-learning approach on low-performance platforms, we use a sliding-window detection technique based on histogram features. By adapting the integral histogram, we solve the problem of the time-consuming histogram computation on each sub-window. For more speed up, we propose a local candidate search, and an adaptive scaling template method. In addition, we propose to apply a stabilization term in the matching function for a stable detection location. In experiments on our dataset, we demonstrated that we achieved a very rapid tracking performance demonstrating over 100 frames per second on a PC environment.
