Purpose: In this study changes were observed in body temperature, heart rate and arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) of newborns after bathing and to determine the effects of covering their heads with cotton hats after bathing. Methods: Participants were 58 newborn infants, 31 in the experimental group had their heads covered with cotton hats after their bath while 27 in the control group did not. Body temperature, arterial oxygen saturation and heart rate were measured at 8 consecutive times after bathing. Data were analyzed using t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: Body temperature declined shortly after bathing. The experimental group showed faster recovery (p<.001). Heart rate increased after bathing in both groups. Heart rate in the experimental group decreased for 120 minutes and gradually increased to baseline (p<.001). In the control group, heart rate decreased for 180 minutes and then increased but did not reach the baseline (p<.001). Arterial oxygen saturation decreased shortly after bathing and recovery to the baseline was more rapid in the experimental group (30 minutes vs. 60 minutes) (p<.001). Conclusion: With significant changes observed in newborns' body temperature, arterial oxygen saturation and heart rate, covering the head right after bathing is effective in stabilizing infants' physiological system.
Polyurethane(PU) materials have been generally used in the automobile, paint, furniture, adhesive, and textile industries. The use of Waterborne PU was motivated form the environmental point of view, i.e. reduction of solvent emissions into the atmosphere(volatile organic compounds, VOC)[1]. Generally speaking, phase change materials (PCM) have the capability of absorbing or releasing thermal energy to reduce or eliminate heat transfer at the temperature range of the particular temperature stabilizing material[2]. In a premixed flame stabilized by a streamlined step, the flame structure and combustion characteristics were investigated to identify the effect of the pressure pulsation in a combustion air. A flame stabilizing limits, visualization, mean temperature, ion current and gas concentration (O$_{2}$, CO$_{2}$, CO, UHC) were measured. With the combustion air of higher pressure pulsation, the development of the mixing layer was fast and wide, the temperature and combustion intensity were higher at arbitrary section. But, the effect was notably decreased with X=150 mm downstream. And a first eddy formation from step edge was earlier. Thus, with the combustion air of higher pressure pulsation, high rate of heat generation was expected.
In this paper, we design the robust $H_{\infty}$ controller for water level control of steam generator using a mixed $H_{\infty}$ optimization with model-matching method. Firstly we choose the desired model which has good disturbance rejection performance. Secondly we design a stabilizing controller to keep the model-matching error small and also provide sufficiently large stability margin against additive perturbations of the nominal plant. Simulation results show that proposed robust $H_{\infty}$ controller at specific power operation has satisfactory performances against the variations of load power, steam flow rate, primary circuit coolant temperature, and feedwater temperature. It can be also observed that the proposed robust $H_{\infty}$ controller exhibits better robust stability than conventional PI controller.
BSCCO superconducting thin films have been fabricated by co-deposition using IBS(Ion Beam Sputtering) method. Despite setting the composition of thin film Bi2212 or Bi2223, in both cases, Bi2201, Bi2212 and Bi2223 phase were appeared. It was confirmed the obtained field of stabilizing phase was represented in the diagonal direction of the right below end in the Arrhenius plot of temperature of the substrate and PO$_3$, and it was distributed in the rezone. The XRD peak of the generated film continuously changed according to the substrate temperature.
BiSrCaCuO superconducting thin films have been fabricated by co-deposition using the faraday cup. Despite setting the composition of thin film Bi2212, Bi(2201, 2212, 2223) phase were appeared. It was confirmed the obtained field of stabilizing phase was represented in the diagonal direction of the right below end in the Arrhenius plot of temperature of the substrate and $PO_3$, and it was distributed in the rezone.
Head up display’s cooling system is auto-diagnosed resulting from the external environment. The quantity of heat depending on this Head up display’s cooling system layout determines the speed of FAN for system cooling. In other words, a system’s heat quantity is planned through the air density depending on altitude, the amount of wind in air depending on FAN control condition, and the algorithm that is proportional to delta temperature. To detect the altitude, we use the criteria of delta T, which is determined by the subtracted value of LED junction temperature, and atmospheric temperature that is recorded on the Head up display system. Depending on the classification of delta T value, the altitude section is determined. While we can use GPS as the tool to detect the altitude, we should predict the change of the air density as the altitude alters, and should not just measure the altitude. And the value of delta T is used as the criterion of detecting the altitude for increasing the cooling efficiency of the car’s inner Head up display system with reflecting the speed of the FAN dependent upon the air density. In our theory, altitude is depending on the value of delta T and stabilizing or maintaining the system’s temperature by changing FAN’s rpm depending on determined value of altitude.
In this study, the temperature characteristics of electrostatic capacity and dielectric loss for the sample of Teflon film which is degradated at the $120^{\circ}C{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ temperature range in the oven for 10 hours has been measured in through the applied frequency range of 0.1 kHz~4,800 kHz at temperature of $50^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $130^{\circ}C$, $170^{\circ}C$. Also, in the same conditions, the frequency characteristics of electrostatic capacity and dielectric loss for the sample of Teflon film has been measured in through the applied temperature range of $30^{\circ}C{\sim}70^{\circ}C$ on setting frequency of 0.1 kHz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz, 100 kHz. The results of this study are as follows. When the frequency range of 0.1 kHz~4,800 kHz applied to the sample of Teflon film, the electrostatic capacity has been measured at the temperature of $50^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $130^{\circ}C$, $170^{\circ}C$. Through this measurement, it found that the electrostatic capacity decreased with increasing temperature. Regarding this result, may be it is because the electromagnetic coupling is degraded by thermal degradation. When the sample of Teflon film heated at $280^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours in oven, the dielectric loss has changed from unstable status to stabilizing status with increasing the degradation temperature in the $120^{\circ}C$, $160^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ range. In this measurement, the two spectrums of dielectric loss appeared. It considers that this spectrum of dielectric loss appeared in 300 Hz is caused by the molecular motion of the C-F or OH group. Through this study, It found that the electrostatic capacity decreased with increasing frequency and temperature, and there is no change in dielectric loss, although the frequency increases.
Properties of ternary blends of nylon 6 (Ny6), a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP, poly(ester amide), 20 wt%) and a maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (2 wt%) (MAPP) were studied under various processing conditions. TLCP was pre-blended with MAPP first and then the binary one blended again with Ny6. The processing temperature of the second mixing was varied. Thermal properties show the partial miscibility of the ternary blend. The morphology of the TLCP phase in the first blending shows mostly in the fibril bundle shape, but varies between droplets and oriented fibrils after the second processing. Some of TLCP phase lost the fibril morphology during the second processing stage. The morphology variation invokes the change in tensile properties. Low extrusion temperature (270$\^{C}$) provides more fibril shapes, which are associated with less deformation in the second stage. The processing temperature effect was more evident when the draw ratio was high. High drawing was applicable due to the stabilizing action of tile compatibilizer.
The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of low temperature and salicylic acid(SA) on the chilling tolerance of acclimated and nonacclimated cucumber(Cucurmis sativus L.) seedlings. The acclimation phenomenon was characterized in chilling-sensitive cucumber seedlings and found to have a significant effect on the survival and shoot dry weights. The injuries experienced by the acclimated seedlings in the third leaf stage were on average smaller by half than those experienced by the nonacclimated seedlings. Chilling also caused a large increase in the free proline levels, regardless of the acclimation status. Exogenous treatment with SA(0.5mM) resulted in improved growth and survival of the nonacclimated chilled seedlings, indicating that SA induced chilling tolerance and SA and acclimation had common effects. The application of cycloheximide in the presence of SA restored the acclimation-induced chilling tolerance. The elevated proline level observed in the cold-treated and SA-treated plants was more pronounced in the light than in the dark at a chilled temperature, indicating that endogenous proline may play a role in chilling tolerance by stabilizing the water status in response to chilling. From these results it is suggested that SA provided protection against low-temperature stress by increasing the proline accumulation, and pre-treatment with SA may induce antioxidant enzymes leading to increased chilling tolerance.
