As expected, the expression of denitrifying genes in a Typha wetland (relatively stagnant compared to other ponds), showing higher nitrogen removal efficiency in summer, was affected by temperature. The abundance and gene transcripts of nitrate reductase (narG), nitrite reductase (nirS), nitric oxide reductase (norB), and nitrous oxide reductase (nosZ) genes in seasonal sediment samples taken from the Acorus and Typha ponds of free surface flow constructed wetlands were investigated using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR) and quantitative reverse transcription PCR (Q-RT-PCR). Denitrifying gene copy numbers ($10^5-10^8$ genes $g^{-1}$ sediment) were found to be higher than transcript numbers-($10^3-10^7$ transcripts $g^{-1}$ sediment) of the Acorus and Typha ponds, in both seasons. Transcript numbers of the four functional genes were significantly higher for Typha sediments, in the warm than in the cold season, potentially indicating greater bacterial activity, during the relatively warm season than the cold season. In contrast, copy numbers and expression of denitrifying genes of Acorus did not provide a strong correlation between the different seasons.

PURPOSES : This study is to compare load transfer efficiency of key joint and dowel joint for airport concrete pavement. METHODS : As AC150/5320-6D of FAA's [Advisory Circular] was changed into AC150/5320-6E, Key joint type of rigid pavement were excluded from Construction Joints. LTE(Load Transfer Efficiency) of dowel joint and key joint were compared by times and seasons through pavement temperature measurement, ocular investigation and HWD measurement. RESULTS : For the joint performance grade of No. 2(The second) runway of airport, 12% of poor rate was observed in key joint and 2% of poor rate in dowel joint. Poor rate of key joint was increased to 17%, if only No. 3~No. 6 slabs, which are mostly loaded from the airplanes, were applied for the study. In apron area, LTE poor rate of key joint was high in winter, and LTE poor rate of dowel joint was at least above 'Fair' grade. In summer, 'Fair' for key joint, 'Acceptable' for dowel joint appeared. CONCLUSIONS : As results, dowel joint was superior than key joint for LTE. Deviations of seasons and times were smaller in dowel joint's result. And LTE in winter was lower than LTE in summer.

The occurrence variations of decapods by season and depth off Oryuk Islets, Busan were investigated at seven stations in April and October 2009, July 2010 and January 2011. Decapods were collected by SCUBA diving at 5 m and 10 m depths. 46 species belonging to 18 families in 3 orders were identified. Pilumnus minutus, Pugettia intermedia, Pachycheles stevensii, and Paguristes japonicus were dominant species, comprising 73.0% of total decapods. P. minutus and P. intermedia were abundant in all seasons (except summer) while P. stevensii and P. japonicus were abundant in fall and summer. Dominant species were divided into three groups (resident species, seasonal species and temporary species) on the basis of their occurrence patterns. P. minutus and P. intermedia were resident species while P. stevensii, P. japonicus were temporary species. The species number, density and biomass of decapods were fluctuated by seasons. They were highest in fall and lowest in winter. This study implied that the variations of species number and density of decapods were significantly related with seasonal change of water temperature.
The seasonal and interannual variation in the species composition and abundance of the decapod assemblage (shrimps, crabs, and hermit crabs) collected using pots in the coastal waters off Gori were studied between 2005 and 2008. During the study period, 49 decapod species belonging to 19 families were collected. The dominant species were Crangon hakodatei, Pandalus gracilis, Carcinoplax longimana, Charybdis bimaculata, Carcinoplax vestita, Diogenes edwardsii, and Dardanus arrosor. These seven species accounted for 95.46% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of species, number of individuals, biomass, and species diversity indices fluctuated with the seasons. The peak number and biomass of individuals occurred in July 2006. The number and biomass of individuals were higher in summer and lower in winter, and the diversity indices were lower in summer than in the other seasons. The abundance of dominant species showed some seasonal and interannual change; in particular, those of C. hakodatei and P. gracilis corresponded with the bottom water temperature.
An algal assay procedure using an indigenous phytoplankton assemblage was tested to estimate the propagation of red tide phytoplankton species and determine the optimal time interval at which to measure growth yield in eutrophic marine waters where red tides frequently occur. Various red tide phytoplankton species were propagated on a large scale by adding nitrogen or phosphorous. This procedure was useful for estimating the limiting nutrient, elucidating the mechanisms underlying red tides, and determining the levels of increases in organic matter in eutrophic coastal waters. The algal assay using indigenous C. polykrikoides showed that this species did not always propagate, apparently because of very low concentrations of trigger elements that are necessary for its growth, rather than as a result of other environmental characteristics, e.g., water temperature or stress from sampling. In the winter, when water temperatures are lower than in spring, summer, or autumn, maximum propagation and the limiting nutrient could be estimated by measuring phytoplankton biomass at 2 - 3-day intervals. However, in the other seasons, when water temperatures are higher, phytoplankton biomass should be measured at 2-day intervals. In particular, daily monitoring will be required to determine precise growth yields in warm seasons.

Adverse impact of Particulate Matters(PM10, PM2.5; PMs) significantly affects daily lives. Major countermeasures for reducing concentration of PMs were focused on emission source without considering spatial difference of PMs concentration. Thus, this study analyzed spatial·temporal distribution of PMs with observation data as well as potential contributing factors on PMs concentration. The annual average concentration of PMs have been decreased while the particulate matter warnings and alerts were significantly increased in 2018. The average concentration of PMs in spring and winter was higher than the other seasons. Also, the spatial distribution of PMs were also showed seasonality while concentration of PMs were higher in Seoul-metropolitan areas in all seasons. Climate variables, emission source, spatial structure and potential PM sinks were selected major factors which could affects on ambient concentrations of PMs. This paper suggest that countermeasures for mitigating PM concentration should consider characteristics of area. Climatic variables(temperature, pressure, wind speed etc.) affects concentrations of PMs. The effects of spatial structure of cities(terrain, ventilation corridor) and biological sinks(green infrastructure, urban forests) on concentration of PMs should be analyzed in further studies. Also, seasonality of PMs concentration should be considered for establishing effective countermeasures to reduce ambient PMs concentration.
This study focused on analysis condition and application method of the passive infrared thermography according to the direction and time to nondestructively detect the blistering zone of stone cultural heritage. As a result, the passive thermographic images showed different temperature characteristics by time because it sensitively reacts to air temperature, insolation and sunshine direction. In particular, the insolation and sunshine direction, which are periodically changed from 6:00 to 17:00, irregularly made surface temperature. In addition, surface temperature differences were brought on fresh zones and blistering zones except specific time since blistering causes erratic thermal transfer. As a result of examining the detection characteristics of blistering by time, the blistering was well detected between 9:00 and 10:00 when there was rapid increase in air temperature and insolation in all direction except the north. However, this study isn't considered effects of four seasons because it is carried out in autumn, and the passive thermography has difficulty to analyze the quantitative area of blistering zone. Therefore, an additional study for synthetic consideration of the passive thermography analysis about four seasons and quantitative modeling of blistering zone using the active thermography are needed.
In this study, we examine future changes in the Hadley cell (HC) strength using CMIP5 climate change simulations. The current study is an extension of a previous study by Seo et al. that used all 30 available models. Here, we select 18-23 well-performing models based on their significant internal sensitivity of the interannual HC strength variation to the latitudinal temperature gradient variation. The model projections along with simple scaling analysis show that the inter-model variability in the HC strength change is a result of the inter-model spread in the meridional temperature gradient across the subtropics for both DJF and JJA, not by the tropopause height or gross static stability change. The HC strength is expected to weaken significantly during DJF, while little change is expected in the JJA HC strength. Compared to the calculations with all model members, selected model statistics increase the linear correlation between the changes in HC strength and meridional temperature gradient by 13~23%, confirming the robust sensitivity of the HC strength to the meridional temperature gradient. Two scaling equations for the selected models predict changes in HC strength better than all-member predictions. In particular, the prediction improvement in DJF is as high as 30%. The simple scaling relations successfully predict both the ensemble-mean changes and model-to-model variations in the HC strength for both seasons.
The purpose of this study is to establish the suitable wearing standard under environmental thermal conditions in Pusan. The data is obtained from 50 girl students from April, 1984 to March, 1985. Items of the research are as follows : Environmental conditioni, clothing weight, contents of wearing, clothing climate, wearing order etc. RESULTS : 1. The upper clothing wights are varied considerably with temperature, while the lower are not. 2. The outdoor temperature and the total clothing weights show the high negative correlation of r=-.97 wth regression equation of Y=-37.64X+1692.66. 3. The clothing weight per clo is 390g/$m^2$. 4. Mostly, subjects were 2~7kinds of the upper and 3~5kinds of the lower clothing. 5. The clothing weights on the upper part of the body are heavier than those on the lower part of it. 6. The standard deviation of the obver clothing is larger than that of the under clothing. 7. The clothing shape of comfort-sensation reporter changes with variation of temperature. 8. The clothing climate of the inner layer is 32.26$\pm$$0.5^{\circ}C$ in temperature, 43.6$\pm$7% in humidity at four seasons. 9. It is represented that total subjects and comfort-sensation reporter control the wearing contents suitably for temperature. 10. The standard of wearing in Pusan is established as Fig. 6.
The effects of environmental factors on the growth of Enteromorpha compressa germlings from Daeyulri (34$^{\circ}$36'N; 127$^{\circ}$47'E), the southern cost of Korea were examined in laboratory culture through combinations of irradiance and salinity and temperature and salinity. They showed a maximum growth rate at 125 $\mu$E.m-2.s-1 and 32$\textperthousand$ of irradiance and salinity combination, and at 15$^{\circ}C$ and 32% of temperature and salinity combination. Optimal parameters for the growth of germlings were 15$^{\circ}C$, 125 $\mu$E.m-2s-1 and 32$\textperthousand$. The germlings of E. compressa were survived in a wide range of irradiance, temperature and salinity levels, even though they had relatively low irradiance optimum. In the field E. compressa occurred commonly during autumn and spring seasons and disappeared in summer, except for particular habitats. This may be caused by the salinity and water temperature of this area rarely drop below 26$\textperthousand$ and 8$^{\circ}C$ during winter. A broad tolerance to environmental and rapid growth of germlings made them a wide geographical distribution over the world and a survival in both the upper and lower intertidal zones.
