  • In underwater, acoustic waves are used for telecommunication. The communication channels are very complicated, because of the distribution of temperature in depth, reflections from boundaries like as the surface of water and the bottom. We report the constitution of the underwater acoustic channel using the simulation of the Transmission Line Matrix Modeling and cross-correlations from the input and output signals.

  • In this paper, the mathematical models of the superheater and the desuperheater are derived based on the fundamental laws of physics, mass and energy balance. The parameters of the models are developed for the 500[MW] thermal power plant using the actual data. The simulated model outputs are well matched with the actual ones. It is expected that the proposed models are useful for the temperature controller design of the thermal power plant.

  • This paper is to establish an appropriate model for predicting the temperature decreases in the batch transferred from the refining process to the caster in steel-making companies. Mathematical modeling of the temperature decreases between the processes is difficult, since the reaction mechanism by which the temperature changes in a molten steel batch is dynamic, uncertain and complex. Three soft computing techniques are examined using the same data, namely the multiple regression, fuzzy regression, and neural net (NN) models. To compare the accuracy of these three models, a limited number of input variables are selected from those variables significantly affecting the temperature decrease. The results show that the difference in accuracy between the three models is not statistically significant. Nonetheless, the NN model is recommended because of its adaptive ability and robustness. The method presented in this paper allows the temperature decrease to be predicted without requiring any precise metallurgical knowledge.

  • Subsurface temperature is affected by heat advection due to groundwater advection. Temperature-depth profile can be perturbed especially when there are significant vertical groundwater flux caused by external force such as injection or extraction. This research is to clarify the change of subsurface temperature distribution when the 40m x l0m sandy aquifer is stimulated by two different vertical flux($case1:\;{\pm}10^{-5}m^3/s,\;case2:\;{\pm}4{\times}10^{-5}m^3/s$) using a program called HydroGeoSphere. The resulting temperature distribution contour map shows pumping causes vertical attraction of water from deeper and warmer place which result in rising up isotherm. Additionally more injection/extraction rate, more vertical groundwater flux leads to faster Increase in temperature near the pumping well.

  • Uniformity of plasma etching processes critically depends on the wafer temperature and its distribution. The wafer temperature is affected by plasma, chucking force, He back side pressure and the surface temperature of ESC(electrostatic chuck). In this work, 3D mathematical modeling is used to investigate the influence of the geometry of coolant path and the temperature distribution of the ESC surface. The model that has the coolant path with less change of the cross-sectional area and the curvature shows low standard deviation of the ESC surface temperature distribution than the model with the coolant path of the larger surface area and more geometric change.

  • In this paper, the elevated temperature on a concrete-galvalume composite beam's flexural strength based on the numerical and experimental methods is investigated. The strategy is to perform modeling and simulation of the flexural test based on finite element method (FEM) at room temperature and validate its results to experimental data at the same temperature. When the numerical model was proven valid, the model was utilized to simulate the effect of elevated temperatures on the composite element. The study concludes that the flexural strength of the beam decreases at higher temperature. Additionally, it was shown that cracking moments is susceptible to temperature fluctuation and the failure modes are sensitive concerning the elevated temperature.
